Top Kraken News

  • Kraken's Jagger Firkus: Trio of assists Tuesday

Firkus recorded three assists in AHL Coachella Valley's 6-3 win over Bakersfield on Tuesday.

The trio of helpers vaulted Firkus above a point-per-game pace for the year. He's now at four goals and 10 helpers through 12 appearances to begin his second professional campaign. Firkus was known for his scoring touch more than his playmaking while in junior hockey, but he's showcasing more of the latter with the Firebirds. He could get a call-up if he's able to sustain this pace for most of the year.

  • Kraken's JR Avon: Three-point effort for Firebirds

Avon scored twice and added an assist in AHL Coachella Valley's 6-3 win over Bakersfield on Tuesday.

Avon is up to three goals and eight points through 11 outings this season. Considering he had a total of 35 points across his first 125 AHL games, he's off to a fantastic start in his new organization -- he was traded from the Flyers to the Kraken in September. The 22-year-old isn't all that promising a prospect, but he could change the narrative if his growth on offense sticks.

  • Kraken's Ty Nelson: Breaks out in AHL win

Nelson scored twice and added an assist in AHL Coachella Valley's 6-3 win over Bakersfield on Tuesday.

Nelson had been limited to just one assist over his first six games of the season. The 21-year-old defenseman is at four points, 12 shots on net and a minus-2 rating through seven contests. He had a solid rookie year with six goals and 32 points in 72 regular-season games in 2024-25, but he'll need to keep growing his game to push for a spot with the Kraken in the next couple of years.

  • Kraken's Ryan Winterton: Pots goal Tuesday

Winterton scored a goal in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.

Winterton's two goals this year have come over the last four games. The 22-year-old is doing a good job of maintaining a bottom-six spot in the lineup. That's not a role that will lead to much offense, but he could play himself into more ice time as the season progresses. Winterton has three points, 14 shots on net, 18 hits and an even plus-minus rating over 16 appearances.

  • Kraken's Matt Murray: Good performance not enough

Murray stopped 33 of 34 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.

Murray put in his best performance of the season so far, but he wasn't able to snag a win as Jet Greaves kept things level in the other crease. The 31-year-old Murray has allowed seven goals over four appearances (three starts) to begin his tenure with the Kraken, but he's 0-2-1. He's started the last two games over Philipp Grubauer and has likely earned additional time while Joey Daccord (upper body) is on the mend. It's quite possible Murray is playing for his roster spot, as it could be untenable for the Kraken to carry three goalies once Daccord is healthy.

  • Kraken's Matt Murray: Patrolling home blue paint Tuesday

Murray was the first goaltender off at morning skate, according to Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network, which indicates he will draw the start at home against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Murray turned in a respectable showing Sunday against Dallas, stopping 23 of 25 shots, but his team provided him with just one goal en route to a 2-1 loss. If Murray continues to perform admirably, he could be the de facto No. 1 option over Philipp Grubauer while Joey Daccord is on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury. The Blue Jackets are coming off a 5-4 overtime loss in Edmonton on Monday, so the Kraken have the rest advantage Tuesday.

  • Kraken's Adam Larsson: Pockets assist Sunday

Larsson notched an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Stars.

Larsson has been his usual steady self on defense while adding little in the way of offense so far for the Kraken. He snapped a six-game point drought Sunday and now has three assists over 15 contests. The blueliner has added 37 blocks, 26 hits, 14 shots on net and a minus-6 rating while averaging 22:03 of ice time in a top-pairing role.

  • Kraken's Matt Murray: Remains winless after Sunday

Murray stopped 22 of 24 shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Stars.

Murray was beaten twice in the first period, but even though he looked solid the rest of the way, he was unable to pick up his first win of the season. The 31-year-old goaltender has gone 0-2-0 with a 2.72 GAA and .900 save percentage in three appearances this season. However, as the backup behind Philipp Grubauer while Joey Daccord (upper body) is on the shelf, Murray isn't expected to see a lot of playing time any time soon.

  • Kraken's Jaden Schwartz: Ends goal drought Sunday

Schwartz scored a goal and took three shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Stars.

Schwartz ended a six-game goal drought -- a span in which he accrued only two assists -- with a first-period tally in this one. However, the Stars would turn things around to secure the win. Schwartz should continue to see ample opportunities to produce as a top-six forward for the Kraken, but he's scored just five goals so far, as well as adding six assists, in 15 games. He's still on pace to record 20-plus goals for the third time in his last four seasons, though.

  • Kraken's Matt Murray: Draws road start

Murray will patrol the blue paint Sunday in Dallas, per the NHL media site.

Murray will draw the start in the second half of Seattle's back-to-back set after Philipp Grubauer was in net during Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over St. Louis. The 31-year-old Murray has made two appearances this season, stopping a combined 32 of 36 shots, but he has yet to find the win column. The Stars also played Saturday, picking up a 5-4 win in Nashville. Dallas has generated 3.00 goals per game in 2025-26, which ranks 18th in the NHL.

  • Kraken's Chandler Stephenson: Beats buzzer to force overtime

Stephenson scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blues.

Stephenson provided late heroics -- his goal at 19:58 of the third period forced overtime after the Kraken had trailed for most of the frame. The 31-year-old swapped lines with Matty Beniers for this contest. Stephenson has three points over four outings in November, and he's up to four goals, eight points, 22 shots, 13 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 14 appearances on the year.

  • Kraken's Shane Wright: Scores game-winner in overtime

Wright scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blues.

The Kraken never lost the puck in overtime, culminating in Wright's goal at the 1:57 mark to steal both standings points after trailing for most of the third period. The 21-year-old center has chipped in a decent share of offense with four points over his last seven contests. He's at four goals, eight points, 22 shots on net, 11 hits, six blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 14 appearances this season, which is a similar pace to his 44-point effort over 79 outings in 2024-25.

  • Kraken's Ryker Evans: Two points in season debut

Evans scored a goal on two shots on net and added an assist, two hits and a plus-1 rating in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blues.

Making his season debut after recovering from an upper-body injury, Evans found the back of the net midway through the second period on a shot that deflected in off Alexei Toropchenko's skate. The 23-year-old blueliner has some offensive skill, but Evans' path to consistent power-play time is blocked by Vince Dunn and Brandon Montour, capping his fantasy appeal in formats that don't reward his hits and blocked shots.

  • Kraken's Eeli Tolvanen: Fuels OT win with three-point night

Tolvanen produced a power-play goal and added two assists in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blues.

The 26-year-old winger scored his first goal of the season late in the second period to tie the game at 2-2, and Tolvanen's second helper of the night came on Shane Wright's OT winner. Tolvanen is still skating in a bottom-six role at even strength, but he's worked his way onto the top power-play unit in the absence of Jared McCann (lower body), and six of Tolvanen's seven points on the season have come in the last five games.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Nabs first win in OT

Grubauer made 16 saves in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blues.

The veteran netminder seemed headed for the loss until Chandler Stephenson tied the game with two seconds left in regulation, before Shane Wright capped a dominant OT by the Kraken with the winner. It was Grubauer's first win of the season in only his third appearance, but he figures to see a heavy workload in the short term while Joey Daccord (upper body) is on the shelf.

  • Kraken's Julius Miettinen: Three points in Saturday's win

Miettinen scored twice and added an assist in AHL Everett's 4-3 overtime win over Kamloops.

Miettinen continues to carve up the WHL, as he has 12 goals and 16 assists through 16 games. This was his third multi-point effort over the last four contests for the Silvertips. Miettinen has significantly elevated his offense to start 2025-26, which should please the Kraken's brass as they watch the 19-year-old's development.
