  • Kraken's Matty Beniers: Will miss next two games

    Beniers (upper body) is not at practice Friday after taking a hard hit from Vancouver's Tyler Myers on Wednesday and will miss the next two games, Scott Malone of Root Sports reports.

    Beniers was hurt in the second period against the Canucks but continued to play before calling it a night before the start of the third period. The rookie has 17 goals and 36 points in 47 games this season and is currently considered the front-runner for the Calder Trophy. Beniers will not play Friday versus Calgary or Saturday against Columbus. After that, the Kraken will go on a 10-day break before returning to action on the road Feb. 7 against the Islanders.

  • Kraken's Martin Jones: Taking on Calgary

    Jones was the first goaltender off the ice Friday and will defend the home goal versus Calgary, Scott Malome of Root Sports reports.

    Jones had four straight 30-win seasons with San Jose but he's fallen upon hard times in his last three seasons, winning a total of 44 contests with the Sharks and Flyers. He has, however, turned it around this season, going 23-6-3 with a 2.78 GAA. Jones will face the Flames, who are averaging 3.08 goals per game, good for 19th overall in the NHL.

  • Kraken's Max McCormick: Recalled from AHL

    McCormick was recalled from AHL Coachella Valley on Friday, according to Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press.

    The 30-year-old winger has 18 goals and 42 points in 38 minor-league appearances this year, good for a tie for eighth place in AHL scoring. He has yet see action in the NHL this season and went pointless in 10 games last year with the Kraken.

  • Kraken's Justin Schultz: Placed on injured reserve

    Schultz (undisclosed) has been placed on injured reserve, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.

    Schultz was injured against the Oilers on Jan. 17 and has missed the last three games. He has five goals and 24 points in 42 contests with nine of his assists having come with the man advantage. Shultz is considered week-to-week at this time.

    Wright (lower body) is considered out indefinitely after sustaining an injury with OHL Windsor this week, Dave Jewell of The Hockey Writers reports.

    Wright has put up 11 points over six games since joining Windsor shortly after the end of the World Junior Championship. The first-round pick from 2022 doesn't have a timeline to return, so it's unclear how severe this injury is.

    Beniers (upper body) didn't finish Wednesday's game versus the Canucks, Kate Shefte of The Seattle Times reports.

    Beniers initially stayed in the game after a hard hit from Tyler Myers in the second period, but he didn't return for the third. Head coach Dave Hakstol didn't elaborate on Beniers' status after the contest, but there's at least a chance this was a precautionary move from the team to protect its star rookie in a blowout win that ended 6-1.
