    Weegar pulled a goal back for the Flames in the third period, but a comeback push never materialized. The 30-year-old defenseman hadn't scored a goal since his Feb. 10 hat trick versus the Islanders, but he had a solid seven helpers over 15 games between goals. He's up to 16 tallies, 40 points, 173 shots on net, 166 blocked shots, 161 hits, 45 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 68 appearances. Weegar's still got a good shot to top his career high of 44 points from 2021-22.

    Wolf allowed four goals on 32 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Capitals on Monday.

    Three of the Caps' five goals came in the second period, including a pair of Alex Ovechkin power-play tallies, as Wolf's winning streak was halted at two. The 22-year-old Wolf has started three straight games with Jacob Markstrom (lower body) sidelined. Overall, Wolf is 3-4-1 with an .897 save percentage and 3.25 GAA this season. While he's been decent in his current NHL stint, there's a good chance that Wolf will either be relegated to backup duty or sent back to the AHL with Markstrom likely to return before the Flames' next game Saturday in Vancouver.

    Morton agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with Calgary on Monday. The contract will begin with the 2024-25 season.

    Morton just wrapped up his final season with Minnesota State University, racking up 24 goals and 10 assists in 37 games. The forward will link up with AHL Calgary on an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign before getting a chance to secure his NHL debut next year.
