  • Panthers' Adam Boqvist: Inks one-year deal

Boqvist agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Florida on Tuesday.

Boqvist becomes the second member of the Panthers' defensive depth to join the club after getting bought out this offseason, though Nate Schmidt figures to play a bigger role for the club. While Boqvist could certainly spend some time in the minors, the club is buying low on a 23-year-old, eighth-overall pick that has 209 games of NHL experience. Whether Boqvist makes the Opening Night roster will depend heavily on his training camp and preseason performance, likely needing to edge out Uvis Balinskis or Tobias Bjornfot for a spot.

  • Panthers' Jaycob Megna: Agrees to one-year deal

Megna signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Panthers on Friday.

Megna had two assists, 22 PIM, 28 shots, 60 hits and 87 blocks in 44 appearances with Chicago in 2023-24. He'll enter the Panthers' training camp with a chance of making the team, but Florida's blue line is strong enough to likely result in Megna instead beginning the campaign in the AHL.

  • Panthers' Anton Lundell: Makes six-year commitment

Lundell signed a six-year contract with the Panthers on Wednesday. The deal comes with a $5 million annual cap hit, giving it a total value of $30 million, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.

Lundell was a restricted free agent after completing his entry-level contract. He had 13 goals and 35 points across 78 regular-season contests in 2023-24 and stepped up in the playoffs with three goals and 17 points in 24 outings. His strong postseason performance provided a window into what the 22-year-old is capable of. Making a six-year commitment to Lundell is something of a risk, given that he hasn't reached the 20-goal or 45-point mark in a single campaign, but if Lundell develops as hoped, then this could be a steal for the Panthers. The Finnish forward is set to enter the 2024-25 campaign in a middle-six role.

  • Panthers' Nate Schmidt: Links up with Florida

Schmidt signed a one-year contract with the Panthers on Tuesday, Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reports.

Per CapFriendly, his salary will be $800,000. Schmidt was bought out by the Jets ahead of free agency and will now link up with the defending champions. The 32-year-old defenseman has been little more than a third-pairing option in recent years, but he'll replenish the Panthers' blue line while reuniting with head coach Paul Maurice. Schmidt had 14 points, 76 blocked shots, 66 hits and a plus-10 rating over 63 regular-season appearances in 2023-24.

  • Panthers' Mackenzie Entwistle: Inks two-way agreement

Entwistle signed a one-year, two-way contract with Florida on Tuesday.

Entwistle didn't receive a qualifying offer from Chicago this offseason, making him an unrestricted free agent. He will add some physicality to Florida's bottom-six group but likely won't contribute much offensively. Entwistle has only 15 goals and 35 points in 193 career NHL appearances.

  • Panthers' Chris Driedger: Earns one-year deal

Driedger signed a one-year contract with Florida on Monday.

Driedger will likely compete with Spencer Knight for the backup job behind Sergei Bobrovsky. Driedger spent two seasons with Florida before being taken by the Kraken during their expansion draft. Last season, he posted a strong 2.26 GAA and .917 save percentage in 39 regular-season appearances with AHL Coachella Valley. He then registered a .906 save percentage in 18 AHL postseason appearances. Driedger saw action in only two NHL games during the 2023-24 campaign.

  • Panthers' Jesper Boqvist: Heading to Sunshine State

Boqvist signed a one-year deal with the Panthers on Monday.

Boqvist split his time between Boston and AHL Providence last season. He tallied 14 points in 47 regular-season NHL appearances and added 23 points in 31 AHL contests. The 25-year-old could fill a similar role with Florida during the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Panthers' A.J. Greer: Joins Stanley Cup-winning squad

Greer signed a two-year, $1.7 million contract with Florida on Monday.

Greer provided six goals, six assists, 57 shots on net and 100 hits in 59 regular-season contests with Calgary in 2023-24. The 27-year-old forward will likely occupy a bottom-six spot with the Panthers.

  • Panthers' Tomas Nosek: Agrees to one-year contract

Nosek signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Panthers on Monday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.

Nosek had two goals and six points in 36 outings with the Devils last season. He'll compete for a fourth-line spot with the Panthers. Nosek has never reached the 20-point mark in a season, so his fantasy value is minimal.

  • Panthers' Dmitry Kulikov: Staying with Stanley Cup champs

Kulikov penned a four-year, $4.6 million contract with the Panthers on Monday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.

Kulikov appears to be enjoying his second stint with Florida, having started his career with the club after being selected 14th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Considering the veteran blueliner hasn't recorded a power-play point since the 2016-17 campaign when he was with the Sabres, fantasy managers probably shouldn't be expecting more than 20-25 points out of Kulikov this upcoming season.

  • Panthers' Sam Reinhart: Cashes in with new deal

Reinhart's eight-year contract extension, which was agreed upon Sunday, will carry an overall value of $69 million, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Reinhart and the Panthers got this deal done just ahead of Sunday's deadline to allow him to secure that eighth season. Fresh off a Stanley Cup championship, the 28-year-old winger has played in all 82 regular-season games in the last two years -- including setting new career highs with goals (57) and points (94) during the 2023-24 campaign. Reinhart should be able to maintain elite-level production heading into the upcoming season, especially in his first-line and No. 1 power-play roles, though his shooting percentage figures to drop from last year's 24.5 percent mark.

  • Panthers' Sam Reinhart: Secures eight-year extension

Reinhart and the Panthers agreed to an eight-year contract extension Sunday, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports. The official details are expected to be announced Monday.

Reinhart was one of the key pieces of Florida's Stanley Cup run last season. He scored a career-high 57 goals, blazing past his previous career best of 33. Reinhart finished the regular season with 94 points -- including 34 on the man advantage -- while averaging 20:18 of ice time and playing in all 82 games. He then added 16 points in 24 postseason appearances. Reinhart will stay locked into a top-six spot with heavy power-play usage. In his three years with Florida, the 28-year-old winger ranks 11th in the NHL with 121 goals.

  • Panthers' Rasmus Asplund: Inks one-year deal

Asplund signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Panthers on Sunday, per PuckPedia.

Asplund did not see any NHL action during the 2023-24 campaign. He scored 44 points in 67 games with AHL Charlotte. Asplund totaled eight points in 46 contests with Buffalo and Nashville during the 2022-23 season. He should continue providing Florida with organizational depth.

  • Panthers' Simon Zether: Final pick of Round 4

Zether was the 129th overall pick by the Panthers in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

Sporting a mid-October birthday, Zether was one of the draft's oldest first-year eligible players. While some analytic-driven teams undoubtedly dinged him for that, the flip side is that Zether spent 42 games in the SHL this past season. He only contributed four assists, but Zether isn't out there for his offense. He's a big body (6-foot-3) and a smart player. His zone exits are simple but clean. Swedish rearguards are taught how to defend at a young age, and Zether is no exception. Expect him to marinate in Europe for a couple more seasons before trying his hand stateside.

  • Panthers' Matvei Shuravin: Final pick of Round 3

Shuravin was the 97th overall pick by the Panthers in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

Shurvain's game may lack dynamic qualities, but he's a solid all-around defender. He played KHL games this past season as a 17-year-old, which is no small feat. His skating is somewhere between average and a tick above. Shuravin doesn't project as much of a point producer at the NHL level, but he rarely makes mistakes with the puck and calmly gets the puck out of his zone without issue. It will take some time, but Shuravin has the ceiling of a bottom-pairing regular, which would be an excellent outcome at this stage of the draft.

  • Panthers' Linus Eriksson: Swede joins champs in Round 2

Eriksson was the 58th overall pick by the Panthers in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

A two-way center lauded for his leadership abilities, Eriksson served as Sweden's captain at the World U18 Championship and led all U18 players in scoring (11 points in 29 games) while playing for Djurgardens in Sweden's second tier Allsvenskan. The statistics might not pop at first glance, but the fact Eriksson earned a regular role playing against men at such a young age is an extremely positive development. It would be a stretch to project Eriksson as a future top-six pivot at the NHL level, but his versatility and awareness in the defensive zone should make him an ideal depth addition to the Florida lineup at some point down the road.
