    Analysis

    The Jays are generally a different team in their home park, although they enter off back-to-back upset wins at Yankee Stadium. Kevin Gausman (3-3, 3.45 ERA) has been quite good for the most part. Bucs pitcher Bubba Chandler is a touted prospect but maybe not ready for the Show yet at 1-5 with a 5.14 ERA. Major control issues so far. Chandler has been one of the biggest money-losing pitchers in the majors at minus-$537.

    Analysis

    The Rays have won four straight and have a 4.5-game lead in the AL East over the Yankees. The Rays have already swept the Yankees this season, but now Gerrit Cole comes into the mix, returning to the rotation after missing 2025. But I want to talk more about Nick Martinez of the Rays, who has only allowed three runs between his last five starts. In his last start, he didn't allow any runs, but Miami won in 10 innings, 10-5. He’s had nine starts this year, and the Rays have won seven of them. Sure, I'll take plus money with the Rays.

    Analysis

    DraftKings. Nick Martinez has been a revelation for the Rays, pitching to a 1.51 ERA. His success has allowed him to pitch deep into games, and in turn, he’s allowed at least five hits in 7/9 starts. He’s a big time regression candidate on general (3.86 xERA, .257 xBA), and I love the Yankees to churn out at least five hits tonight. The Yanks do make pitchers work, but Martinez does not miss bats and does walk anyone. He’ll continue to pump the zone (sixth highest zone rate out of 120 qualified starters), looking to induce soft contact. Even with the Yankees bats in the midst of a slump, looking for them to reach the five hit mark within the first 21 hitters tonight.

    Analysis

    Not my favorite Cubs play ever, but I feel almost obligated to play these Friday standalone matinees at Wrigley. Not a big fan of Chicago pitcher Jameson Taillon, but he has been better at home and during the day. Certainly prefer the Cubs' lineup. Maybe some urgency on a season-high five-game skid to fall out of first in the NL Central (stupid Brewers). Houston is 8-17 away. Spencer Arrighetti (5-1, 1.50 ERA) has been shockingly good, but he's not that guy. His road splits are significantly worse than at home; Arrighetti is 6-13 career away with a 5.15 ERA.
