  • Lightning's Tyler Motte: May not play Sunday

Motte (lower body) is questionable for Sunday's tilt in Florida, Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida reports.

Motte missed the last three games of the regular season with the injury. He ended the season with six goals and nine points in 69 appearances. Look for Motte to play in a bottom-six role up front, once he returns to action.

  • Lightning's Luke Glendening: May not play Sunday

Glendening (undisclosed) is questionable for Sunday's tilt versus Florida, per Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida.

More on Glendening's status will be known Saturday. The 34-year-old center missed Wednesday's season-ending finale with the injury after he was hurt during his first shift in the second period Monday versus Buffalo. Glendening had 10 goals and 11 points in 81 games this season.

  • Lightning's Victor Hedman: Back at practice Friday

Hedman (illness) returned to practice Friday, per Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida.

Hedman had another terrific season, scoring 13 goals and adding 63 assists. The Lightning's top blueliner had one assist in each of the three games versus Florida -- their first-round playoff opponent -- this season.

  • Lightning's Anthony Cirelli: Practicing Friday

Cirelli (rest) was at practice Friday, according to Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida.

Cirelli was given the night off Wednesday, as the Lightning had already clinched their spot in the postseason. Cirelli hit the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career this season. He ended the season with 25 assists and 45 points in 79 appearances. Cirelli is expected to center the second line, between Steven Stamkos and Brandon Hagel, when the Lightning face the Panthers on Sunday in Game 1.

  • Lightning's Nikita Kucherov: Makes history in finale

Kucherov scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Maple leafs.

His second-period helper on a Brayden Point tally put Kucherov in the history books as the fifth player in NHL history to accumulate 100 assists in a season -- rarified air that was previously only reached by Wayne Gretzky (a mind-boggling 11 times), Mario Lemieux and Bobby Orr (once each) before both Kucherov and Connor McDavid did it in 2023-24. Kucherov claimed his second scoring title with a career-high 144 points through 81 games -- his 44 goals were also a personal best. Kucherov will lead the Lightning into the playoffs beginning Sunday against the Panthers.

  • Lightning's Matt Tomkins: Nabs win over Leafs

Tomkins made 34 saves in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Maple Leafs.

The 29-year-old goalie went down as the man who denied Auston Matthews his 70th goal of the season, making seven stops on the Toronto superstar in the first period alone. Tomkins supplied Tampa Bay with decent netminding down the stretch, going 2-0-1 in three April starts while giving up 10 goals on 95 shots (.895 save percentage), but he'll be firmly on the bench behind Andrei Vasilevskiy when the Lightning begin their first-round series against the Panthers on Sunday.

  • Lightning's Anthony Cirelli: Won't play Wednesday

Cirelli is not on the ice for warmups and won't play Wednesday versus the Maple Leafs, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.

Cirelli missed a game earlier in April due to an upper-body injury, so it's possible the Lightning have decided to give him extra rest ahead of the playoffs. He is a key defensive center for the team, and there's no reason to think he'll miss Game 1 of the Lightning's first-round series versus the Panthers.

  • Lightning's Victor Hedman: Sitting due to illness

Hedman (illness) won't play Wednesday versus the Maple Leafs, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.

There's no point in playing through it for Hedman, as the Lightning are locked into the first wild-card spot. Hedman will end the regular season with 13 goals, 76 points, 168 shots on net and 102 blocked shots over 78 appearances.

  • Lightning's Tyler Motte: Not playing Wednesday

Motte (lower body) won't suit up for Wednesday's game versus the Maple Leafs, Chris Krenn of the Lightning's official site reports.

Motte will miss his third straight game, though it makes sense the Lightning aren't pushing him to play in a contest that won't impact the final standings. The 29-year-old will contend for a bottom-six role in the postseason once he's cleared to return.

  • Lightning's Matt Tomkins: Leaves ice first

Tomkins was the first goalie to exit the ice at morning skate, indicating he'll be between the home pipes versus Toronto on Wednesday, Mark Masters of TSN reports.

Tomkins will make just his sixth start in an NHL crease, having gone 2-2-1 with a 3.19 GAA in his previous five contests. The decision to start Tomkins certainly makes sense considering the Bolts can't change their position in the playoff standings Wednesday. No. 1 option Andrei Vasilevskiy will get the night off in order to prepare for the postseason.

  • Lightning's Luke Glendening: Ruled out Wednesday

Glendening will miss Wednesday's matchup with the Maple Leafs due to an undisclosed injury, Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida reports.

Glendening logged just 3:47 of ice time against the Sabres on Monday before being forced to leave the game because of his injury. Considering the veteran center has registered just one point in his last 22 contests, few fantasy managers figure to be impacted by his absence. The Michigan native had played every game this season before being ruled out for the season finale Wednesday. Austin Watson should slot into the lineup with Glendening on the shelf.

  • Lightning's Steven Stamkos: Nets 40th goal

Stamkos scored a goal on a team-high seven shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.

Stamkos got Tampa on the board early in the second period, beating Eric Comrie with a wrister off a Buffalo turnover to tie the game 1-1. The 34-year-old Stamkos has now reached the 40-goal threshold in seven of his 16 NHL seasons. He's been on fire down the stretch, tallying 11 goals and 14 points over his last nine outings. Stamkos will enter Wednesday's season finale with 79 points (40 goals, 39 assists) across 78 contests this year.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Falls to Buffalo

Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 34 shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.

Vasilevskiy has now dropped back-to-back starts, stopping 30 of 34 shots in both outings, after going 9-2-1 with a .922 save percentage across his previous 12 appearances. Overall, the 29-year-old netminder is 30-20-2 on the season with a .900 save percentage and a 2.90 GAA. The Lightning are back in action at home Wednesday in their regular-season finale against Toronto.

  • Lightning's Jonas Johansson: Could return for postseason

Johansson (lower body) may be an option during the postseason, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports Monday.

While having Johansson available to serve as the backup will certainly benefit the Lightning, the 28-year-old netminder shouldn't be expected to take the crease for the team any time soon unless Andrei Vasilevskiy suffers an injury. Johansson will end the regular season having made a career-high 26 appearances with a 12-7-5 record, a 3.37 GAA, an .890 save percentage and two shutouts.

  • Lightning's Haydn Fleury: Inching closer to return

Fleury (undisclosed) is on the ice for practice in a non-contact jersey Monday, Chris Krenn of the Lightning's official site reports, and head coach Jon Cooper is hopeful the defenseman will be available for the start of the playoffs, per Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times.

Fleury will miss the final two games of the regular season, but his presence at practice Monday, albeit in a limited capacity, suggests he could be ready to rock once postseason play gets underway. The 27-year-old has picked up five points while averaging 16:07 of ice time per game through 24 contests as a rotational, bottom-pairing option for Tampa Bay this season.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Tending twine Monday

Vasilevskiy will protect the home net Monday against Buffalo, according to Chris Krenn of the Lightning's official site.

Vasilevskiy is coming off a 30-save effort in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Washington. He has lost three of his last five outings, posting a .903 save percentage during that span. In 51 appearances this campaign, he has provided a 30-19-2 record with a 2.88 GAA and a .900 save percentage. The Sabres sit 22nd in the league this season with 2.96 goals per contest.
