Will Philip Rivers still be laughing after Sunday? (USATSI)
Will Philip Rivers still be laughing after Sunday? (USATSI)

Before we get to the Week 7 picks, we need to talk about Week 6 -- and when I say we need to talk about Week 6, I specifically mean we need to talk about ties. Ties are dumb.

This random person on Twitter agrees with me that ties are dumb, so I know I'm right.

Ties are so dumb.

The problem with ties is that no one wins -- and when I say no one, I mean no one.

On the other hand though, plenty of people lose. Take the good people of Charlotte for example: Thanks to the Panthers 37-37 tie with the Bengals, everyone in Charlotte had to pay full price for donuts on Monday.

The @krispykreme deal that offers a dozen original glazed doughnuts for $3.99 the Monday after a #Panthers win will not be valid tomorrow.

Ridiculous. If that doesn't make you want to boycott Krispy Kreme, then I don't know what will.

The guy below gets it. If you can't get dozen a Krispy Kremes for $3.99 after a tie, then it might as well have been a loss.

@Panthers @krispykreme so it's a loss then damn

The other problem with ties is that people start talking about kissing their sister. I have two sisters, so I don't want to talk about this subject anymore, so lets talk about Donovan McNabb.

Apparently, McNabb isn't the only player who skipped over the portion of the rulebook that talks about ties.

Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin was kind of shocked when the game against the Bengals ended with the score still tied, "I didn't even know you [could tie] in the NFL," Benjamin said.

You can laugh at Benjamin for not knowing the rules, unless you're a Packers that is, because let's not forget what happened after the Packers tied the Vikings last season.

This is nothing new but still hard to believe: I heard multiple Packers admit they expected a second overtime, didn't know they could tie.

Anyway, lets stop talking ties and get to the Week 7 picks -- where I promise not to pick any games to end in a tie.

If you want to make fun of me for all of the wrong picks I made last week, you can do that in the comment section or on Twitter. If you want to be named "Sexiest Man of the Game" then you'll have to talk to Gronk.

If you don't care about NFL picks or Rob Gronkowski and you're just here for my weekly picture of an animal in an NFL jersey, well, here's a dog in a Carolina Panthers jersey. I bet the dog was happy that the Panthers tied because dogs are always happy and to be honest, I don't think dogs know much about ties or football.

Once you're done trying to figure out if that dog has any legs, you can check out the weekly picks from every CBSSports.com NFL expert here.

Now let's get to the picks.

Week 7 Picks

Miami (2-3) at Chicago (3-3), 1 p.m. ET (CBS): The AFC's most unpredictable team is playing the NFC's most unpredictable team, which means something unpredictable is probably going to happen. Unpredictable would be Ryan Tannehill throwing for over 300 yards, along with three touchdown passes, two numbers that he hasn't hit all season. Dolphins 24-20 over Bears.

Cincinnati (3-1-1) at Indianapolis (4-2), 1 p.m. ET (CBS): The NFL should move this game to the OK Corral because there's a good chance it's going to turn into a shootout. That's what happened last year when the Bengals won 42-28 and that's what should happen this year in a game that will feature the NFL's fifth-ranked Bengals offense going up against the league's top-ranked offense in Indianapolis. Speaking of offenses, both of Indy's losses this season have something in common, they came against potent offenses (Philadelphia, Denver). Bengals 34-31 over Colts.

Kansas City (2-3) at San Diego (5-1), 4:05 p.m. ET (CBS): The last time the Chiefs won in San Diego, Damon Huard was their quarterback. Chiefs fans might not remember that game from 2007, but Huard probably does because that was his last win as an NFL starter. Since then, Kansas City has gone 0-6 against the Chargers in San Diego. That's an ugly stat, but it's offset by the fact that Andy Reid teams are 13-2 coming off a bye and the fact that I'm 5-0 picking Chiefs games this year. Chiefs 30-27 over Chargers.

New Orleans (2-3) at Detroit (4-2), 1 p.m. ET (FOX): Based on Detroit's luck with kickers this season, this game will come down to a field goal and Matt Prater will miss it. Only the miss won't count because Prater will get another shot after the Saints jump offsides. Then Prater will miss again, but that won't count either because the Saints will be flagged for running into the kicker. The third miss, the one that bounces out off the upright, will count. Saints 27-24 over Lions.

San Francisco (4-2) at Denver (4-1), 8:30 p.m. ET (NBC): Two years ago, Jim Harbaugh tried to woo Peyton Manning to the 49ers so that he could dump Alex Smith and let Manning run the team. Half of Harbaugh's plan worked, he dumped Alex Smith. Harbaugh didn't get Manning though, and Manning actually called Harbaugh to tell him he wouldn't be signing with San Francisco. I don't really want to pick against a jilted Jim Harbaugh -- it's scary enough picking against a non-jilted Jim Harbaugh -- but on the other hand, there's no way I can pick against Manning in prime time when he's three touchdown passes away from breaking Brett Favre's NFL record for career touchdown passes. Broncos 31-27 over 49ers.

Week 7 picks: All the rest

Patriots 30-20 over Jets

Ravens 30-17 over Falcons

Redskins 23-17 over Titans

Seahawks 27-17 over Rams

Browns 31-17 over Jaguars

Bills 20-17 over Vikings

Packers 34-27 over Panthers

Cardinals 24-17 over Raiders

Cowboys 34-24 over Giants

Steelers 23-20 over Texans

BYES: Philadelphia, Tampa Bay

Last Week

Best pick: Last week, I picked the Chargers to beat the Raiders by four and then the Chargers went out and beat the Raiders by three. Why was that my best pick you ask? Because most people thought the Chargers were going to win by 11 touchdowns. Also, I needed a reason to bring up the fact that the Chargers team bus got egged by Raiders fans, which I'd normally say is a bad thing, but it wasn't this time because everyone learned an important lesson.

Worst pick:  I've made some bad decisions in my life and I have to say, picking Kirk Cousins to beat the Cardinals on the road definitely ranks in the top three. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you're thinking about picking the Redskins and Cousins to win a game, just stare at the stat below for an hour, it will make you pick the other team.

Kirk Cousins: 13 career games (8 starts), 21 total turnovers. (18 INT, 3 fumbles lost.)
