Edwards (coach's decision) is inactive for Saturday's game against the Texans, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Edwards was signed by the Titans in Week 3 and has been active in every game since. However, his role has slipped in recent games as Tennessee's defensive line has gotten healthier, which leaves Edwards as the odd-man out in Week 16.... See More ... See Less

Bears' Mario Edwards: Goes on COVID-19 list
The Bears placed Edwards on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday. Edwards returned from a two-game absence due to a rib injury to play 19 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Packers, but he now finds himself at risk of missing time due to a new issue. According to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Edwards is unvaccinated, so he'll be away from the team for a minimum of five days even if he's been deemed a close contact of an infected person. If Edwards has tested positive himself, he'll be out for at least 10 days, meaning he won't be available to play in the Bears' Week 15 game against the Vikings next Monday night.... See More ... Bears' Mario Edwards: Logs full practice
Edwards (ribs) logged a full practice Thursday. Edwards missed each of Chicago's last two games and logged a limited session Wednesday, so the latest development is an encouraging sign ahead of his potential availability for Sunday's game against the Packers. Edwards has seven tackles (two solo), 1.5 sacks and one pass defended through eight appearances in 2021.... See More ... See Less -
Bears' Mario Edwards: Out Week 12 with rib injury
Edwards is inactive for Thursday's game against the Lions due to a rib injury. Listed as questionable heading into the day, Edwards was listed as a full participant on the Bears' first two practice reports of the week before downgrading to limited activity Wednesday. The step back in terms of on-field reps looks like it was enough to keep Edwards sidelined for the first time since Week 2. When healthy, Edwards has filled a minor rotational role along the defensive line, as he's played no more than 40 percent of the defensive snaps in any of his eight appearances.... See More ... Bears' Mario Edwards: Notches sack in debut
Edwards posted two solo tackles and a sack in Sunday's 26-6 loss to the Browns. It was a long afternoon for the Bears, but Edwards managed to notch a sack in his season debut. However, Edwards played just 26 percent of the snaps, so we can't count on him for IDP purposes.... See More ... See Less -
Bears' Mario Edwards: Ready for Week 4
Edwards (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Colts. Edwards was a late addition to the injury report Saturday and was listed as questionable, but he'll be available for Sunday's contest. The 26-year-old has played only 22 defensive snaps in the past two games and is unlikely to play a major role versus Indianapolis.... See More ... See Less -
Bears' Mario Edwards: Finds new home
Edwards inked a contract with the Bears on Sunday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. The 2015 second-round pick was released by the Saints on Saturday despite appearing in 14 games with the squad during the 2019 campaign. Edwards will likely get a chance to see the field right away for Week 1, especially considering Eddie Goldman has opted out for the season and Akiem Hicks (quadriceps) is dealing with injury. Last season, Edwards logged just eight tackles (two solo), three sacks and a forced fumble.... See More ... See Less -
Saints' Mario Edwards Jr.: Records sack in dominant win
Edwards recorded three tackles (two solo), one tackle for a loss and a sack in the Saints' 42-10 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Edwards recorded his first sack in three weeks, finishing 2019 on a high note. In 14 games on the year, he managed eight tackles (six solo), three sacks and a forced fumble.... See More ... Raiders' Mario Edwards: On thin ice in Oakland
Edwards isn't guaranteed to make the Oakland roster ahead of the 2018 season, Jerry McDonald of the East Bay Times reports. Edwards has missed 18 games in three seasons since Oakland made him a second-round selection in 2015. Even when healthy, the Florida State product hasn't provided the type of impact the team likely expected from him, notching just 5.5 sacks and 71 tackles in 30 games. The Raiders could save over $1.2 million in cap space by letting him go, though the team would likely need to feel very comfortable with offseason defensive end pickups Frostee Rucker and Tank Carradine to do so.... Raiders' Mario Edwards: Suffers right ankle injury
Edwards has a right ankle injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Edwards rotates with Denico Autry at defensive end opposite of Khalil Mack, so Autry will take a bulk of the snaps if Edwards can't return. It's a troubling sign for the Raiders' defensive line, though, as they only have five healthy men to fill four spots.... See More ... See Less -
Raiders' Mario Edwards: Half sack in win
Edwards recorded five tackles (four solo) and 0.5 sacks in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Dolphins. Edwards was dealing with a back injury all week, which limited his participation in practice. However, the defensive end didn't appear to be slowed down in Sunday's win, as he notched his first sack since Week 4 and his highest tackle count of the season. He'll now get the bye week to rest before taking on the Patriots in Week 11.... See More ... See Less -
Raiders' Mario Edwards: Will begin season on IR
Edwards (hip) was placed on the Raiders' injured reserve list Monday. Edwards was also a candidate for the PUP list to begin the season, but Oakland brass must not be convinced his hip injury has progressed enough to consider a Week 7 return as realistic. Nonetheless, Edwards is still expected to return at a later point in the campaign and can be tagged with a return designation after the first six weeks of the regular season.... See More ... Raiders' Mario Edwards: May miss first six games
Edwards (hip) is in danger of missing the team's first six games of the regular season as he nurses a strained hip, Vic Tafur of The San Francisco Chronicle reports. Various reports have surfaced that the Raiders are contemplating placing the 22-year-old on the PUP list which would subsequently make him unable to return to action until Week 7. While Oakland believes that Edwards may be nearing a return, the team is debating whether or not to utilize the PUP list as a means of retaining an additional roster spot. Edwards will likely not need the full six weeks to recover, so the decision will likely come down to roster bubble matters.... See More ... See Less -
Raiders' Mario Edwards: Won't need surgery
Edwards (hip) will not need surgery on his sprained hip, Scott Bair of CSN California reports. Edwards injured his hip while tackling Cardinals' running back David Johnson during Thursday's preseason contest. Edwards was given a four-to-six week timetable, but it was questionable if he needed surgery or not. Now that it's clear he just needs time and not surgery, he'll likely be able to return sooner than he otherwise would've, though his status for the regular season opener is still in question.... Raiders' Mario Edwards: Carted off in preseason opener
Edwards was carted off in Thursday's preseason game with an apparent leg injury and left the locker room on crutches, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The Chronicle reported the injury isn't thought to be serious, but there are few details on the ailment.... See More ... See Less
