  • Browns' Tyler Huntley: Lands with Cleveland

Huntley agreed to a contract with the Browns on Sunday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Huntley will stick in the AFC North after serving as one of the primary backup quarterbacks behind Lamar Jackson in Baltimore over the past four seasons. The 26-year-old is set to join Cleveland on a veteran minimum deal, according to Tom Withers of the Associated Press. With four accrued seasons under Huntley's belt, this veteran minimum deal should carry a base value of one-year, $1.13 million. He'll likely compete with Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson (hip) for the primary backup role behind starting quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder).

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Capable showing in contract year

Huntley finished the 2023 regular season having completed 21 of 37 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns over five games. He added 15 carries for 55 yards. The bulk of Huntley's production came in his lone start during the final game of the regular season, when he went 15 for 28 for 146 yards with one touchdown. His other appearances came in blowout wins over the Browns, Lions, Seahawks and Dolphins. Huntley could be heading toward an impasse with the Ravens, as he's set to become an unrestricted free agent just as Lamar Jackson's $260 million contract extension kicks in, Baltimore may opt for a more cost-efficient backup quarterback as a result. The fact that the team traded for rookie quarterback Malik Cunningham during the season only strengthens that notion. Should Huntley hit the open market, he'd be a strong option for any team looking to bolster its quarterback room. However, it's unlikely that he would be brought in anywhere with a serious expectation to start.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Modest output in Week 18 loss

Huntley completed 15 of 28 pass attempts for 146 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 40 yards on eight attempts in Saturday's 17-10 loss to the Steelers. The veteran backup made his first start of the season with the AFC's No. 1 seed opting to rest superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson for an inconsequential Week 18 matchup. Huntley was harassed in the pocket by T.J. Watt (knee) and Co. to the tune of four sacks for a combined loss of 28 yards. Huntley wound up throwing the Ravens' only touchdown in Saturday's defeat, adding 40 rushing yards with no turnovers to produce a modest fantasy score. The 26-year-old will report back to the sidelines when Jackson starts for Baltimore in the AFC divisional round.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Tabbed for Week 18 start

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Huntley will start Saturday's game against the Steelers. Baltimore has clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs and will rest MVP frontrunner quarterback Lamar Jackson, paving the way for Huntley to make his first start of the season. Huntley will face a motivated Pittsburgh defense, as the Steelers have almost no path to the postseason without a win Saturday. The mobile backup has a 3-5 record over eight previous career starts, but Huntley has been effective in limited relief action this season, completing six of nine passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns while adding 15 rushing yards on seven attempts.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Backup QB for Sunday

Huntley is active for Sunday's contest against the Steelers. Huntley will serve as the backup quarterback behind Lamar Jackson, while Josh Johnson will act as the emergency quarterback for Week 5.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Third QB in Week 1

Huntley is the Ravens' inactive third QB for Sunday's game against the Texans, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports. Per Wacker, Huntley indicated Friday that he wasn't quite back from a hamstring issue. As a result, Josh Johnson is slated to serve as Baltimore's No. 2 QB behind Lamar Jackson on Sunday.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Should be available Week 1

Huntley (hamstring) wasn't listed on Baltimore's injury report Wednesday ahead of Sunday's game versus Houston. Despite murmurs back in August that he was in danger of being placed on IR due to a hamstring issue, Huntley looks poised to start the season on the active roster behind Lamar Jackson. Jackson has missed at least one game in all but one of his five NFL seasons, so Huntley knows he needs to stay warm.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Expected to avoid IR

Head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that he doesn't foresee Huntley (hamstring) going on injured reserve, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. This is a positive update for the backup quarterback, but it remains unclear when he'll be healthy again. Huntley tweaked his hamstring during the Ravens' preseason opener and hasn't practiced or played since. Josh Johnson and Anthony Brown are also on the roster, but if the Ravens are content with Huntley's health, they may cut the other two backups ahead of the 53-man roster deadline Tuesday.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Misses another practice

Huntley (hamstring) isn't practicing Saturday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Huntley tweaked his hamstring during last Saturday's preseason contest against Philadelphia and didn't practice at all this week. The injury was initially described as minor, so the Ravens may be acting out of an abundance of caution in opting to hold him out. Huntley seems unlikely to play in Monday's exhibition game in Washington, but there's no indication that he's in danger of missing the start of the regular season.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Remains sidelined

Huntley (hamstring) still isn't practicing as of Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Huntley left Saturday's preseason opener against the Eagles with the injury and hasn't yet been cleared to resume team drills. His exit from the contest was labeled as precautionary, though it's possible the team is still playing it safe with Huntley in practice, too. Huntley should be locked into the No. 2 role at quarterback behind starter Lamar Jackson.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Dealing with minor hamstring tweak

Huntley left Saturday's preseason contest late with a hamstring tweak, but the issue is expected to be minor, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Huntley was sharp in his limited action, completing eight of 11 passes for 88 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for 13 yards in the 20-19 win. The Ravens were presumably being precautionary when they sent the undrafted fourth-year quarterback to the locker room, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Huntley miss a couple practices this week to make sure he's back to 100 percent before next Monday's preseason matchup in Washington.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Sharp in preseason debut

Huntley completed eight of 11 passes for 88 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and rushed twice for 13 yards in the Ravens' 20-19 preseason win over the Eagles on Saturday night. Huntley checked into the game to open the second half and immediately helmed a 13-play, 75-yard drive that he capped off with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tylan Wallace. The veteran remained in the game for one more drive before giving way to Anthony Brown, and as his numbers imply, he certainly did nothing to hurt his presumed standing as the No. 2 quarterback. Huntley will continue to tune up for the regular season when the Ravens face the Commanders on the road Monday night, Aug. 21 in their second preseason contest.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Comes up short in Cincinnati

Huntley (shoulder/wrist) completed 17 of 29 passes for 226 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Bengals. He added nine carries for 54 yards and lost a crucial fumble as the Ravens fell in the wild-card round. Huntley was intercepted on Baltimore's first possession as the Ravens fell behind 9-0 early. Baltimore responded with a 17-play touchdown drive, on which Huntley showcased his dual-threat skill set. He extended the drive with a two-yard run to convert on 4th-and-1 before eventually throwing a two-yard touchdown pass to J.K. Dobbins. Huntley added a 41-yard touchdown pass to Demarcus Robinson in the third quarter to tie it 17-17, but that tie was broken in the fourth quarter when he had the ball knocked out of his hands less than a yard from the goal line and returned the length of the field for a Bengals touchdown. Though Huntley came up short in this one when his last-second Hail Mary bounced off James Proche's fingertips, the backup quarterback proved capable of keeping the Ravens competitive after Lamar Jackson's Week 13 knee injury. Baltimore's expected to bring both QBs back in free agency, and doing so with Huntley should be straightforward given that he's a restricted free agent.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Trending toward Sunday's start

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relays via Stacey Dales of NFL Network that Huntley (shoulder/wrist) is expected to start Sunday night's playoff game against the Bengals. Huntley, who sat out last weekend's regular-season finale against the Bengals due to right shoulder tendinitis along with a wrist injury, is officially listed as questionable for the contest, but he's expected to be available for Sunday's 8:15 ET kickoff. That said, while it appears as though Huntley is trending toward drawing the start, Rapoport and ESPN's Jamison Hensley both indicate that Huntley could cede some reps Sunday to Week 18 starter Anthony Brown in the continued absence of Lamar Jackson (knee).

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Expected to share work with Brown

Huntley (shoulder/wrist), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, is on track to play but will likely be sharing snaps at quarterback with Anthony Brown, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. After sitting out last week's regular-season finale against the Bengals with right shoulder tendinitis as well as a wrist injury, Huntley said after putting in a full practice Friday that he's about 90 percent healthy heading into the rematch with Cincinnati in the wild-card round. The Ravens still weren't fully comfortable clearing Huntley heading into the weekend and are treating him as a game-time decision leading up to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, even though the expectation is that he'll play. Even so, Huntley sounds like he could cede reps to Anthony Brown, who picked up the Week 18 start. As Rapoport notes, which of the two signal-callers starts the contest may not matter much, as head coach John Harbaugh is expected to have a preferred option for various play packages depending on both quarterbacks' strengths. The possibility of Huntley not getting 100 percent of the quarterback snaps if he plays makes him a less appealing option in DFS contests than he otherwise might be.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Logs limited practice

Huntley (shoulder/wrist) was officially a limited practice participant Thursday. Huntley, who is dealing with tendinitis in his right (throwing) shoulder, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, was able to resume throwing at Thursday's practice, which bodes well for the signal-caller's chances of being available for Sunday's playoff game against the Bengals. Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson (knee) remained sidelined Thursday and is trending toward being out this weekend. Friday's injury report will add further context to Baltimore's QB situation, but assuming Huntley avoids any setbacks, he'd figure to draw the start this weekend, assuming Jackson is unavailable. In Huntley's Week 18 absence, Anthony Brown served as the Ravens' starting quarterback.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Back throwing Thursday

Huntley (shoulder) was seen throwing during individual and team drills during Thursday's practice, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports. When Huntley went down as a limited participant Wednesday, he didn't throw, so Thursday's development is a positive sign after he was inactive Week 18 in Cincinnati. The Ravens are gearing up to face their AFC North foes again on the road this Sunday in the wild-card round, and Huntley now seems to be on the road to being available for that contest, while Lamar Jackson (knee) again sat out. Thursday's practice report will reveal if Huntley remained limited or upgraded to all activity.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Inactive against Bengals

Huntley (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game in Cincinnati, leaving Anthony Brown as the Ravens' starting quarterback, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Reports throughout the week mostly suggested Huntley was on track to play, but then Saturday he was said to be a true game-time decision and is now officially out for the season finale. Brown, an undrafted rookie, previously got some playing time Week 14 against the Steelers when Huntley left early due to a concussion.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Game-time decision for Sunday

Huntley (shoulder/wrist), who is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Bengals, is viewed as a game-time decision, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Huntley was expected to remain the Ravens' starting quarterback for a fifth straight week while Lamar Jackson (knee) remains sidelined, but a bout with right shoulder tendinitis is threatening Huntley's status for the regular-season finale. Schefter notes that Anthony Brown took all the first-team reps in practice during the week, and the undrafted rookie out of Oregon could end up getting the starting nod if the Ravens aren't confident in Huntley's health as the 1 p.m. ET kickoff approaches. Baltimore elevated another quarterback (Brett Hundley) from the practice squad Saturday, so the team will have another signal-caller on hand to back up Brown if Huntley finds himself on the inactive list.

  • Ravens' Tyler Huntley: Trending toward another start

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that "there's a good chance" Huntley (shoulder/wrist) will start Sunday's game against the Bengals, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. Harbaugh confirmed Friday that Lamar Jackson (knee) has already been ruled out for a fifth straight game this weekend, leaving Huntley as the next man up at quarterback. Though he's started each of the past four games in Jackson's absence, Huntley's Week 18 status is more muddled than usual while he fights through tendinitis in his right shoulder as well as a wrist injury. According to Hensley, Harbaugh said the Ravens opted not to have Huntley do any throwing during the open portions of practice this week due to the lingering tendinitis issue, but Huntley participated in all walk-through drills and team meetings to keep himself prepared for the starting assignment. Huntley is still likely to carry an injury designation into the weekend, and if the Ravens have any concerns about his ability to throw while he manages the two injuries, he'll likely give way to undrafted rookie Anthony Brown at quarterback.
