Player Outlook
Davis was a bust in 2022, but he has the chance to rebound this year -- at a cheaper cost -- since he remains a big part of Buffalo's offense as the No. 2 receiver opposite Stefon Diggs, and he still has Josh Allen on his side. He should be considered a post-hype sleeper candidate worth drafting as early as Round 7 in all leagues. His CBS Average Draft Position in 2022 was No. 60 overall, but he finished with just 48 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns and averaged 12.8 PPR points per game. That number is a little skewed because he had four games with at least 16 PPR points and six games with six PPR points or less. Davis can still be an excellent No. 3 Fantasy receiver in the majority of leagues who can win you a few weeks during the season with his big-play ability.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Season-best numbers in OT loss

Davis caught six of 12 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-34 overtime loss to the Eagles. It was the best performance of the season for Davis in terms of yardage, but despite his impressive totals it was one of the balls that he didn't catch that could haunt the Bills -- on 3rd-and-six from the Eagles' 22-yard line in OT, Josh Allen tried to beat a blitz by throwing to a wide-open Davis for what would have been a game-winning TD, but the receiver turned the wrong way while the ball was in the air. The fourth-year wideout heads into Buffalo's bye with six touchdowns, one short of his career high, but his erratic weekly numbers -- he's caught two passes or less in four of the last six games -- have left him on pace to fall short of 1,000 yards once again, as well as making him tough to utilize on fantasy rosters outside of best-ball formats.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Not targeted Week 11

Davis failed to draw a target in Sunday's 32-6 win over the Jets. Davis was held without a target for the first time this season and went without a reception for the second time in 11 appearances. Despite playing the most offensive snaps (67) of any Bills receiver, the veteran could not connect with Josh Allen in what ended up being a blowout victory. Davis has proven to be a talented playmaker in his time with Buffalo, but his lack of consistency makes him difficult to trust on a weekly basis.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: WRs to Sit (Start/Sit)

We'll see if the coordinator change from Ken Dorsey to Joe Brady helps the Bills passing game, specifically Davis, but he's tough to trust against the Jets in Week 11. He's scored 9.6 PPR points or less in four of his past five games, and he has a terrible history against the Jets, who held him to two catches for 32 yards on four targets in Week 1. In his past four games against the Jets, Davis has combined for 10 catches for 135 yards and no touchdowns. He's barely a No. 3 Fantasy receiver in most leagues in Week 11.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Held catchless in loss

Davis failed to reel in either of his two targets in Sunday's 24-18 loss to the Bengals. A week after recording season highs in both targets (12) and receptions (nine), Davis was held without a catch for the first time in 2023. His low volume on a night when Josh Allen attempted 38 passes is concerning, but Davis has seen five targets or fewer in six of nine games this year. With that said, he's always a threat to find the end zone, as he has amassed five touchdowns through those nine games. The 24-year-old's inconsistency makes him difficult to trust in fantasy, but he's proven that he can be a difference maker in Buffalo's high-powered offense. Davis will look to have a bounce-back performance when the Bills host the Broncos in Week 10.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

It'll sting if you start Davis and the Bills go back to using him as a downfield threat more than a short and intermediate target. My guess, and it's just a guess, is that the Bills like the idea of playing up-tempo with so many explosive talents on the field. Davis also has been a reliable end-zone target all season, so even if the Bills do go for a slower pace or don't use Davis the same way he can connect for a score to help his numbers. He has just enough upside to be a low-end WR2 in PPR this week over DK Metcalf, D.J. Moore and Amari Cooper.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Season-high reception total in win

Davis brought in nine of 12 targets for 87 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' 24-18 win over the Buccaneers on Thursday night. Davis tied with Stefon Diggs for the team lead in receptions and targets while checking in second in receiving yards. The speedster also produced his fifth touchdown of the season on a four-yard scoring grab in the third quarter, and his catch total was highest of the campaign. Davis' night represented a major resurgence from his season-worst one-catch, six-yard effort against the Patriots in Week 7, and he could once again play a major role in a Week 9 road matchup against the Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 5.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Flex Starter (Lineup Decisions)

Davis is basically a weekly flex starter because of his upside as a deep-ball target in a Josh Allen-led offense. But it's nice to know the Buccaneers have been susceptible to deep throws and deep touchdowns this season. I would roll with Tee Higgins, Josh Palmer or Courtland Sutton over him, but low-upside receivers like Diontae Johnson, Marquise Brown and DeAndre Hopkins don't come close to Davis' upside.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Quiet in loss

Davis caught one of five targets for six yards in Sunday's 29-25 loss to the Patriots. Davis struggled to get much going Sunday despite seeing the third-most targets and playing the most offensive snaps (68) of any Bills pass catcher. After a strong start to the season, the wideout has cooled down over the past two weeks, with his six yards setting a new low mark so far in 2023. Nonetheless, Davis will look to bounce back Week 8, when the Bills host the Buccaneers on Thursday night.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Down game ends TD streak

Davis caught three of four targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 14-9 win over the Giants. Davis' impressive touchdown streak came to an abrupt halt at four games following Sunday's stinker. The deep threat finished with his lowest yardage total of the season while also coughing up a fumble, barely scraping together a positive score in most fantasy formats. Even with the rough outing, Davis still owns a respectable 24-362-4 receiving line on 30 targets through six weeks. The Bills' No. 2 receiver could be primed for a bounce-back game against the Patriots next Sunday, as Bill Belichick's defenses have historically shaded coverages toward the opposition's No. 1 option.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: TD streak at four games

Davis caught six of eight targets for 100 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Jaguars. The fourth-year wideout did most of his damage in the second half as the Bills tried to mount a comeback, hauling in a 19-yard TD with just over four minutes left in the fourth quarter. The score extended Davis' touchdown streak to four games, a stretch in which he's posted a 16-288-4 line on 22 targets. While he's still the No. 2 option for Josh Allen behind Stefon Diggs, there's more than enough production available in the Buffalo passing game for both receivers. Davis stands an excellent chance of extending his TD streak to five contests in Week 6 against the struggling Giants.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Flex Starter (Lineup Decisions)

Until his role changes, Davis will be the same kind of Fantasy option every week -- one big play and he's a stud, one or two misses and he's a dud. The Jaguars have done well against deep-ball receivers but not enough to the point where benching Davis is a good idea. He's toward the top of the flex mix ahead of Tank Dell, Tutu Atwell, Christian Watson and Jerry Jeudy.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Scores again in big win

Davis brought in all three targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' 48-20 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. Davis saw fellow wideout Stefon Diggs steal the spotlight with a 6-120-3 line on the day, but it was actually the former that scored the first six of Buffalo's 48 points on an 18-yard touchdown grab to cap off the first drive of the afternoon. Davis added another pair of catches and now has found the end zone in three consecutive contests heading into a Week 5 game against the Jaguars in London.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: WRs to Sit

We got lucky with Davis in Week 3 at Washington since he scored a touchdown, but his 35-yard reception was his lone catch on four targets. He's now had two catches or less in two of three games this year, and he struggled against Miami last season with seven catches for 93 yards on 12 targets. He always has the chance to score a long touchdown like he did against the Commanders, but I would only consider him a No. 3 Fantasy receiver at best in most leagues in Week 4.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Sit Him (Lineup Decision)

The good news? Davis is a regular route-runner in Josh Allen's offense. The bad news? Miami's had his number in 2 of their past 3 meetings and have already been better against receivers like him this season. Davis' 14.2% target share is also a problem. Davis is fine as a low-end flex but I'd be more inclined to roll the dice on Tutu Atwell, Jordan Addison, Nathaniel Dell and Josh Palmer.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Shows off playmaking ability

Davis recorded six receptions on seven targets for 92 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Raiders. Davis bounced back from a quiet Week 1 performance to deliver a few big plays in Buffalo's blowout win. He accounted for the team's longest gain from scrimmage with a 40-yard catch down the right sideline late in the fourth quarter. Earlier in the contest, Davis caught a two-yard touchdown to put the Bills up 28-10. He was a boom-bust player in a full-time role in 2022, and a similar outcome appears on tap for the current campaign.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: WRs to Start

Josh Allen was miserable in Week 1 at the Jets, and so was Davis, who only had two catches for 32 yards on four targets. But Davis has a terrible history against the Jets, and I expected him to struggle. He'll bounce back this week against the Raiders at home, mostly because Allen will make a statement in this matchup to quiet any doubters. And Allen needs to get Davis going, as well as Dalton Kincaid, to take pressure off Stefon Diggs. I would only start Davis in three-receiver leagues or unless you need a flex option with upside, but I expect him to have a big outing in Week 2 at home.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Two catches in Week 1 loss

Davis caught two of four targets for 32 yards in Monday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Jets. Davis was blanketed by arguably the best secondary in the NFL and finished a distant second on the Bills in receiving yards behind Stefon Diggs (102). Buffalo's No. 2 wide receiver behind Diggs should have better days ahead, beginning with a Week 2 home game against the Raiders. The inconsistent Davis was held under 40 yards eight times last season, but he had at least 74 yards and a touchdown in four of his seven other appearances.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: WRs to Sit

Davis was bad in two games against the Jets last season with a combined five catches for 64 yards on nine targets. This is a great secondary with Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed and Michael Carter II, and Davis could struggle once again on Monday night. I'd still start Stefon Diggs despite the tough coverage, but it's easy to get away from Davis in this matchup. At best, he should be considered a low-end No. 3 receiver in three-receiver leagues.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Catches one pass

Davis caught one of four targets for 15 yards in Saturday's preseason game at Chicago. Davis and a number of other starters played two or three drives, while superstars Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs came out after RB Damien Harris scored a TD on the opening series. Davis gets a tough matchup to start the regular season with Buffalo traveling to the Meadowlands for Monday Night Football against a Jets defense led by CBs Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed. Last year, Davis caught five of nine targets for 64 yards in two matchups with the Jets.

  • Bills' Gabe Davis: Only two grabs in defeat

Davis caught two of four targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Bengals in the AFC divisional round. Davis had an impressive catch of 25 yards toward the end of the second quarter, but overall he was one of many Bills offensive weapons to struggle in the snow. In fact, top wideout Stefon Diggs didn't fare much better than Davis, catching four passes for only 35 yards. While starting all 15 games he played in the regular season, Davis hauled in 48 of 93 targets for 836 yards and seven scores, marking his best campaign yet despite still carrying weekly inconsistencies. With 2023 slated to be the final year of his rookie contract, Davis will strive to continue his ascent and earn a lucrative new deal.
