Jackson practiced on a limited basis Wednesday and Thursday before missing Friday's session. The second-year pro has recorded seven tackles, including 3.0 sacks, and a pass defensed in eight games this season.

    Jackson (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Nick Wagoner of reports. The 2022 second-round pick went from logging limited practice sessions both Wednesday and Thursday to recording a DNP on Friday, so it's no surprise that he's been ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest. Jackson has recorded seven total tackles, including two tackles for loss and three sacks, through eight games this season.

    Jackson (shoulder) was not listed on the 49ers' injury report Wednesday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Jackson picked up a lingering shoulder injury during San Francisco's preseason game against the Packers on Aug. 12, but he appears to be passed this issue heading into the team's Week 1 contest against the Bears on Sunday. The 49ers' top pick of the 2022 NFL Draft should add to an already dangerous pass-rushing unit featuring fellow defensive ends Nick Bosa and Samson Ebukam this season.

  • 49ers' Drake Jackson: Bound for Bay Area

    The 49ers selected Jackson in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 61st overall. Shortly before the draft, there was some sentiment Jackson could sneak into the latter part of the first round. That ultimately wasn't the case, but Jackson is still a nice value at the end of the second. Jackson impressed scouts with a 37-inch vertical and 127-inch broad jump at the combine. He has had an interesting pre-draft process, as he weighed in at 254 pounds at the combine and then 273 at the USC Pro Day. It will be interesting to see whether he can continue to generate pressure off the edge with the added weight.
