Player Outlook
Ingram only touched the ball 26 times in 12 games as a rookie and had more plays go for no gain or a loss than he did plays that gained more than five yards. That's why we don't have him ranked as someone who should be drafted. Still, Ingram is the No. 2 back on the Cardinals' depth chart behind 28-year-old James Conner, who has missed six games the past two years and nearly a full season over the past four. It's likely at some point the Cardinals will have little choice but to give Ingram 15 to 20 touches and see what happens. For that reason, he's a strong hold in Dynasty and someone you should expect to be fighting for on the waiver wire at some point this year.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Handles two carries in loss

Ingram rushed two times for six yards in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Giants. Ingram was a nonfactor in the Cardinals' offense Sunday, as he played just 10 of Arizona's 65 offensive snaps in the contest. Fellow running back James Conner, however, played 47 snaps and handled 23 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown. Barring an injury to Conner, Ingram should remain far off the fantasy radar going forward. The 23-year-old will likely have a difficult time seeing much playing time when the Cardinals host the Cowboys in Week 3.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Treads water in Week 1

Ingram had five carries for minus-4 yards during Sunday's 20-16 defeat at Washington. Ingram's first four rushes all went for negative yardage, including three of them for minus-3 yards, so his final carry for six yards canceled out two of those losses. He also didn't get much run on offense (seven snaps), with James Conner easily pacing Cardinals running backs with 52 (of 62) plays and 19 touches for 70 yards from scrimmage. As a result, Ingram remains a fantasy non-entity without some sort of absence from Conner.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Stashes (RB Preview)

James Conner is 28 years old and has a long injury history. Ingram is the clear No. 2 back behind him. The Cardinals may be the worst team in the league, and Ingram may not be anything special, but running back production has far more to do with opportunity than talent.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Four carries in preseason finale

Ingram carried the ball four times for 20 yards in Saturday's 18-17 preseason win over the Vikings. He also recorded one reception for three yards. Ingram was the first back on the field with James Conner sitting out, and he played two offensive possessions. He ends the preseason with 11 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown and will enter the regular season as the second running back on the Arizona depth chart.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Looking good for RB2 role

Ingram is the frontrunner for the No. 2 RB job after taking nine touches for 48 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Kansas City, according to Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports. Ingram came back strong in the second week of the preseason after an abdominal injury kept him out for most of training camp and the first exhibition. It helps that the Cardinals don't have much else behind starter James Conner, otherwise relying on veteran special teamer Corey Clement, 2021 UDFA Ty'Son Williams and undrafted rookie Emari Demercado. Conner's injury history makes the RB2 role in Arizona all the more interesting, even after Ingram's rough rookie season with 31 touches for only 81 yards.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Not likely to play Friday

Ingram (abdomen) isn't expected to play in Friday's preseason game against the Broncos, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports. Ingram has missed the majority of training camp to date as he tends to an abdominal injury. It's unclear if starter James Conner will join Ingram on the sideline, but if he does, the Cardinals' available running backs for the exhibition opener will be Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams, Emari Demercado and Stevie Scott.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Should be back soon

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said he hopes Ingram (abdomen) will be back at practice "pretty soon," Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports. Ingram has been rehabbing on a side field to start training camp, but it sounds like his abdominal issue is minor. If available, Ingram figures to operate as the Cardinals' No. 1 running back during the preseason, as it's unlikely veteran James Conner sees many snaps until the regular season. Ingram is competing for the top backup spot with Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams, Marlon Mack and Emari Demercado.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Tending to injury

Ingram is tending to an undisclosed injury in the early stages of training camp, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. The first full week of camp has seen Ingram suited up for practice but spending his time on the side during drills, per Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com. Considering James Conner may not see many, if any, snaps during the preseason, Arizona added six-year pro Marlon Mack to its backfield Friday. As such, the team's backs not named Conner, Ingram and Mack are Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams and Emari Demercado.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Records just 31 touches as rookie

Ingram finished his rookie campaign with 27 carries for 60 yards and one touchdown and four catches (on five targets) for 21 yards in 12 appearances. A 2022 sixth-round pick, Ingram was a healthy scratch for the first five games before making his debut Week 6. Despite numerous injuries in the backfield and the Cardinals cutting Eno Benjamin in early November, Ingram mustered three-plus touches in just three different contests and sputtered to 2.2 yards per carry. James Conner remains under contract with the team through 2024, but as the roster currently stands Ingram and Ty'Son Williams are the only other RBs ahead of the upcoming season. Arizona's new coaching staff and offseason moves may dictate how much work Ingram is able to squeeze out behind Conner, but the latter's injury history indicates the former could make a much larger mark in his second year as a pro.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Should get bigger role sans Conner

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Ingram and Corey Clement will be in store for increased roles in Sunday's game against the 49ers with top back James Conner (shin/knee) ruled out for the contest, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. While Conner was sidelined for the entire fourth quarter of last week's win over the Falcons, Clement played 94 percent of the Cardinals' offensive snaps and carried five times for 25 yards in the final 15 minutes. Meanwhile, Ingram didn't garner any snaps on offense at any point during the contest, which suggests Clement may be the better bet of the two backs to pick up the Week 18 start and absorb most of Conner's snaps and touches. That being said, the Cardinals have more recent draft capital invested in Ingram, a sixth-round rookie, while the 28-year-old Clement has bounced around the league the past few seasons and profiles as more of a special-teams player at this stage of his career. With that in mind, it wouldn't be a complete surprise if Ingram carved out a larger role Sunday than expected, despite how he and Clement were deployed a week ago.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Carries once in loss

Ingram rushed once for one yard in Monday's 27-13 loss to the Patriots. Ingram played just nine offensive snaps in the contest, while starting running back James Conner was on the field for 71 of the Cardinals 75 offensive snaps. The rookie's lack of involvement while Conner operates as a true bell cow limits any potential he has to produce for fantasy purposes. Barring injuries, Ingram should be viewed as nothing more than a handcuff to Conner going forward. The Cardinals visit the Broncos in Week 15.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Gets five rushes Monday

Ingram notched five carries for 19 yards during Monday's 38-10 loss to the 49ers. The Cardinals moved on from Eno Benjamin last week, effectively elevating Ingram to James Conner's direct backup. But with Conner able to handle a healthy majority of the snaps (55 of 71) and touches (16) Monday, Ingram was left with only a handful of opportunities on 18 offensive plays. While the carry count was the second-most of his young career, the 2022 sixth-round pick still is averaging just 2.5 YPC on his 19 rushes to date. Ingram thus doesn't hold much sway without Conner missing time.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Week 11 Waiver Priority List

With Eno Benjamin being released Monday, Ingram is now the No. 2 running back in Arizona behind James Conner. Ingram is now worth stashing in the majority of leagues just in case Conner gets hurt, and he already missed three games with a rib injury. Ingram is worth 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Becomes No. 2 running back

Ingram is the only running back behind James Conner on the Cardinals' active roster after the team waived Eno Benjamin on Monday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. Conner appeared to be operating on all cylinders Sunday at the Rams, earning 96 percent of the snaps and turning a season-high 24 touches into 86 yards from scrimmage and two TDs. Meanwhile Ingram, a rookie sixth-rounder, was at seven percent and had one carry for five yards, while Benjamin rang in at one offensive play and muffed his only punt return. Conner will continue to handle the vast majority of reps out of Arizona's backfield as long as he stays healthy. However, Ingram has a clear path to any remaining touches, especially with Darrel Williams (hip) and Jonathan Ward (hamstring) on IR. Corey Clement and Ty'Son Williams are the current candidates to be elevated from the practice squad to give the Cardinals additional backfield depth.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Tallies one carry in Week 9

Ingram had a two-yard carry during Sunday's 31-21 defeat to the Seahawks. With James Conner sidelined Weeks 6 to 8 due to a rib injury, Ingram got a bit of run on offense, notching 12 carries for 21 yards and a touchdown and hauling in both targets for 23 yards. But Conner returned to the lineup Week 9 and paced the Cardinals backfield with a 71 percent snap share and 12 touches, while Eno Benjamin moved back to a reserve role (27 percent, five touches). That left just one offensive play for Ingram, which leaves the rookie sixth-round pick on the outside looking in for reps as long as Conner is available.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Notches 11 touches Thursday

Ingram tallied nine carries for 14 yards and one touchdown and hauled in both targets for 23 yards during Thursday's 42-34 win against the Saints. A rookie sixth-rounder, Ingram earned his first touches as a pro in the Cardinals' last two games with James Conner (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) sidelined and Jonathan Ward (hamstring) on IR. While his nine-snap debut Week 5 in Seattle resulted in just three carries for seven yards, Ingram bumped that up to 20 (of 66) offensive plays working behind Eno Benjamin on Thursday. If Conner and/or Williams are able to return for the team's next game Sunday, Oct. 30 at Minnesota, Ingram again may earn a healthy scratch, like he did for the first four contests of the campaign.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Week 7 Waiver Priority List

Ingram is worth a look in deeper leagues for Week 7 since Eno Benjamin (foot), James Conner (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) all showed up on the injured report in advance of Thursday's game against the Saints. If all three are out, Ingram would have the chance at a big role in a prime-time game. Conner and Williams aren't expected to play, and Ingram will likely be No. 2 on the depth chart behind Benjamin. He's worth a speculative add in deeper formats for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Making pro debut Sunday

Ingram is listed as active Sunday at Seattle, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. With James Conner (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) sidelined, Ingram, a 2022 sixth-round pick, will be suiting up for the first time in his career. Eno Benjamin is expected to be Arizona's lead runner Week 6, but Ingram should get his share of touches as well considering coach Kliff Kingsbury's penchant for getting multiple running backs involved on a weekly basis. Ingram also has to contend with the elevated Corey Clement behind Benjamin, so it's unclear how much work the rookie can expect in his pro debut.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Set to debut Week 6

Ingram is expected to make his NFL debut in Sunday's game in Seattle with James Conner (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) listed as out for the Week 6 contest, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Since he hasn't been a part of the Cardinals' special-teams units this season, Ingram, a sixth-round rookie out of USC, was inactive for each of the team's first five games while Arizona had all of its key running backs available. The losses of Conner and Williams for at least one week will pave the way for Ingram to dress, but the 22-year-old may only play a handful of snaps behind Eno Benjamin, who handled a workhorse role in the Week 5 loss to the Eagles following Conner's departure in the second quarter. The Cardinals will also elevate Corey Clement from the practice squad to provide another depth option behind Benjamin.

  • Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Debut delayed again

Ingram (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Eagles, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. With the rest of Arizona's backfield healthy and available, Ingram's pro debut again will have to wait until Week 6, at the earliest. The rookie sixth-round pick is taking a seat while James Conner serves as the team's lead runner, Eno Benjamin and Darrel Williams are around for any touches that don't go to Conner, and Jonathan Ward handles his customary special-teams role.
