Player Outlook
Gay made 60 of 64 field goals (94 percent) and 79 of 81 PATs (98 percent) over his last two seasons with the Rams before earning a contract with the Colts this offseason. However, in 2022 he averaged just the 21st-most Fantasy points per game while kicking for a struggling Rams offense. The Colts are no guarantee to boost his scoring opportunities. • Colts' Matt Gay: Makes two field goals in win

Gay made two of three field-goal attempts and all three extra-point tries in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Buccaneers. Gay's miss came from 58 yards out and hit the left upright to end the first half. It was his second miss from 50-plus yards on the season in 10 attempts. He was, however, able to connect from 46 and 36 yards while also making all three PATs. The Utah product is now 19-for-23 on FGAs this season and has yet to miss an extra-point attempt in 28 tries. Next up for Gay and the Colts is a Week 13 divisional matchup with the Titans.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Makes one of two

Gay connected on his only extra-point attempt and made one of his two field-goal tries in the Colts' 10-6 win over the Patriots on Sunday. Both of Gay's attempts were from long distance, and although he was short from 57 yards out, he was successful on a 50-yard attempt. With Indianapolis on a Week 11 bye, fantasy managers will need to find a replacement before Gay is back on the field in Week 12 against the Buccaneers.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Makes five kicks

Gay made both of his field-goal tries and all three of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Panthers. Gay converted from 26 and a season-long 57 yards on his field goals. Through nine games, he's converted 16 of 18 field goals and all 24 of his PATS, totaling 72 points.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Perfect in loss

Gay converted both of his two field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 38-27 loss versus New Orleans. Gay remained effective in Week 8, drilling all the kicks he was called on for versus the Saints. He's up to an 87.5 percent conversion rate on field-goal tries on the season, and he's still perfect on extra-point attempts in 2023. In Week 9, the Colts will travel to take on an unexceptional Carolina defense.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Solid in close loss

Gay converted on one of two field-goal attempts and all five of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 39-38 loss versus Cleveland. In what was a shootout from the jump, Gay was only called on for two field-goal tries. The first was a 60-yarder and would have given Indianapolis the lead early in the second quarter, but it was thwarted by Myles Garrett, who leaped over the offensive line to get a hand on it. Gay made his other try and remained perfect on extra-point attempts on the season to salvage his fantasy day, but the Colts will face a tough New Orleans defense in Week 8, keeping a lid on his fantasy prospects for his next game.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Strong day in loss

Gay made both of his two field-goal attempts and both of his two extra-point tries in Sunday's 37-20 loss at Jacksonville. Gay had missed just one kick through five games going into Indianapolis' contest at the Jaguars in Week 6 and continued to be a model of accuracy, including connecting on his fifth 50-plus-yard field goal on as many attempts in 2023. However, in Week 7, the Colts will host a Cleveland defense that's been one of the best in the league through six weeks, dampening expectations for Gay somewhat.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Kicker to Sit

Gay has done well in two of his past three games with 24 Fantasy points in Week 3 at Baltimore and 12 points in Week 5 against Tennessee. In his three other outings, Gay has combined for just 12 Fantasy points, including Week 1 against Jacksonville when he made three PATs and no field goals. The Jaguars have been stingy against opposing kickers this season with only Ka'imi Fairbairn making multiple field goals in Week 3, and Younghoe Koo and Tyler Bass each attempted no field goals against Jacksonville in the past two games.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Strong showing in win

Gay connected on all three field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Titans. A week after missing his only FGA, Gay was able to connect from 43, 35 and 28 yards out in a perfect 3-for-3 performance. He's now 9-of-10 on the season heading into a matchup with the Jaguars in Week 6.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Clutch performance

Gay connected on all five of his field-goal tries and his lone extra-point attempt in Sunday's 22-19 overtime win over the Ravens. Gay was vital to his team's victory in Week 3, connecting on four field goals from 50-plus yards. Most significant were his makes from 53 yards out with just over a minute left in the game to tie it, then again from 53 in overtime to get the win. He also made a third field goal from 53 yards, another from 54, and one from 31, in his perfect 5-for-5 performance. Next up for Gay is a Week 4 matchup against his former team, the Rams.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Has productive day

Gay converted all four of his extra-point tries and hit a 42-yard field goal in Sunday's 31-20 win over the Texans. Gay's field-goal attempt and make were his firsts on the season, while he remained perfect in PAT attempts, now at 7-for-7. He'll work to say perfect in Week 3 against the Ravens.

  • Colts' Matt Gay: Doesn't attempt field goal

Gay converted all three of his extra-point tries but did not attempt a field goal in Sunday's 31-21 loss versus Jacksonville. Watching Indianapolis turn the ball over on downs three separate times in Jaguars territory in Week 1 was probably frustrating for Gay and fantasy managers alike. However, Gay did make good on the opportunities he saw and has now missed just two of his last 100 extra-point tries. In Week 2, Gay will again get to kick in a dome when the Colts visit a Houston team that ceded just one field-goal attempt to Baltimore and Justin Tucker on Sunday.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Productive in season finale

Gay connected on all three of his field-goal attempts and converted his lone extra-point try during Sunday's 19-16 overtime loss to the Seahawks. Gay opened the scoring for the Rams with a 22-yard field goal, and later tacked on field goals from 45 and 38 yards. Gay, who will be an unrestricted free agent, had another impressive season with the Rams, going 28-for-30 on field goals -- his only two misses coming from beyond 50 yards -- and 31-for-32 on extra points. The Rams will likely be keen on keeping the talented kicker, as Gay was one of the few components of the offense that was consistent from start to finish this season.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Puts up dud

Gay connected on a 23-yard field goal and made his only extra-point attempt during Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Chargers. A week removed from the best game of the season for the sure-legged kicker, Gay's prospects at repeating his performance appeared promising, as the Chargers defense looked to pose less of a threat than the Broncos defense that the Rams tore apart in Week 16. Aside from a chip-shot field goal to close out the first quarter, however, Gay would only find one other opportunity to produce points, booting a PAT after Malcolm Brown punched in a 21-yard rushing touchdown. The Rams will be looking to play spoiler in Week 18 to a Seahawks team fighting for the final wild-card spot in the NFC; Gay booted three field goals and two extra points in the team's first matchup in Week 13, giving fantasy managers some hope of a rebound performance.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Erupts with monster game

Gay connected on all three of his field-goal attempts and converted all six of extra-point tries during Sunday's 51-14 victory against the Broncos. Fantasy managers that chose to rely on one of the NFL's most accurate kickers against the top defense in the league were rewarded handsomely, as Gay booted field goals of 55, 53 and 30 yards while adding a whopping six extra-point kicks. Baker Mayfield was able to pick apart the Broncos by relying heavily on his tight ends and Cam Akers, which gave Gay an abundance of opportunities to put up points. A much less intimidating defense is on tap for Week 17 in that of the Chargers, putting Gay back on the fantasy radar after a lengthy mid-season slump.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Misses first extra point of season

Gay connected on both of his field-goal attempts and failed to convert his only extra-point attempt during Monday's 24-12 loss to the Packers. Gay hadn't missed an extra point since Week 5 of the 2021 campaign, so the miss in the frigid air of Lambeau Field should be looked at as an outlier, not a trend. In fact, Gay booted a 55-yard field goal in the second quarter, the third 50-plus yard field goal made at Lambeau Field with temperatures under 25 degrees, and chipped in a 33-yarder as well to keep up his stellar 21-for-23 record on field-goal attempts with three games to go.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Misses 61-yard field goal in win

Gay connected on one of two field-goal attempts and converted both of his extra-point attempts in Thursday's 17-16 win against the Raiders. It's hard to find fault in Gay's miss of a lengthy 61-yard field-goal attempt, which went wide left, due to an unnecessary roughness penalty called on Coleman Shelton that pushed what would've been a much more manageable 46-yard field goal back. Gay booted in a long field goal from 55 yards in the first quarter and remained perfect on both of his extra points to help secure the Rams' first win in over a month.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Ties season high with three FGs

Gay connected on all three of his field-goal attempts and went 2-for-2 on extra-point tries during Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Seahawks. Fantasy managers that were brave enough to start the slumping Gay were rewarded, as Gay connected on a long 54-yard attempt, along with makes from 40 and 32 yards, and continued his season-long perfect streak on extra-point tries. The accurate kicker takes on a Raiders defense that ranks near the bottom of the league in Week 14, which may give Gay more kicking opportunities for a second straight week.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Just one field goal in loss

Gay connected on a 47-yard field goal and converted his only extra-point try in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Chiefs. With Matthew Stafford (neck) and Allen Robinson (foot) joining Cooper Kupp (ankle) on the sidelines, the rest of the Rams' anemic offense did little in helping Gay get into a position to produce. Despite booting a lengthy 47-yard field goal in the first quarter, Gay wouldn't be called into action again until punching in an extra point in the fourth quarter. In Gay's five games since the bye, the accurate kicker has only punched in six field goals and eight extra points. With the entire Rams' offense in disarray between injuries and subpar play, it'll be difficult for fantasy managers to trust Gay as their kicker for the remainder of the season.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Perfect against Saints

Gay connected on both field-goal attempts and went 2-for-2 on extra-point tries during Sunday's 27-20 loss against the Saints. Gay's production got a major boost in the form of a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter. The strong-legged kicker booted a 58-yard field goal with just 11 seconds left in the game, and he added a 33-yard chip shot at the start of the quarter. This was Gay's best performance for fantasy purposes since Week 4, and the veteran has a nearly flawless 14-for-15 record on field-goal attempts on the season.

  • Rams' Matt Gay: Kicker to Sit

Gay has yet to score double digits in Fantasy points this season and has made multiple field goals just once since Week 4. And now the Rams offense is depleted with Cooper Kupp (ankle) on injured reserve. It's hard to expect Gay's Fantasy production to be better without Kupp, and he's an easy kicker to avoid in Week 11.
