  • Falcons' Richie Grant: Strong 2023 campaign

Grant (neck) finished 2023 with 103 tackles (37 solo), six pass defenses, 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception in 17 appearances. Grant, a 2021 second-round pick, was a regular starter for a second straight season and has recorded back-to-back 100-tackle campaigns. In 2023, Grant notched his first three sacks of his career and recorded his third interception over the last two seasons. He lost some snaps over the final couple of weeks to DeMarcco Hellams but appeared in all 17 games and finished strong with a 10-tackle performance, including a sack, in Week 18. The addition of Jessie Bates didn't negatively impact Grant's production, and the duo figures to be back in 2024, though Grant is entering the final year of his rookie deal and may have to fend off Hellams for playing time.

  • Falcons' Richie Grant: Heading to Peach State

The Falcons selected Grant in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 40th overall. Grant is the second safety off the board, landing in Atlanta after a brief trade back from the 35th pick. Grant (6-foot, 197 pounds) is light and tested unevenly as an athlete (4.57-second 40, 34.5-inch vertical, 129-inch broad jump) but he was a four-year contributor and three-year starter at UCF, where he posted big tackle numbers. His light frame suggests he'll do less work in the box at the NFL level, but wherever he lines up, he'll be on the IDP radar if he can compete for a starting role right away.
