Kolar is more proficient as a blocker at this stage of his career than his counterpart, Isaiah Likely, who is starting to break out as a pass-catcher. Down the stretch, Kolar averaged 25 snaps per game and caught six of seven targets for 74 yards and a score on 41 routes. With Likely's emergence and Mark Andrews set to return next season (if not sooner), Kolar may be blocked from seeing significant playing time again in 2024. However, if Andrews remains out for the divisional round matchup against the Texans, Kolar could be in line for plenty of snaps.

There was some debate in fantasy circles as to whether it would be Kolar or Isaiah Likely as the next man up following Mark Andrews' ankle injury. Likely appears to be emphatically ahead of Kolar as it stands, as the former played 73 percent of the snaps and recorded four receptions for 40 yards on six targets Sunday. Kolar has some utility as a blocker, and his collegiate production points to him having useful pass-catching ability, but Likely is clearly a hurdle to him getting on the mainstream fantasy radar. Harbaugh added that the surgery will "clean up" a lingering injury that dates back to Kolar's college days with Iowa State, which the rookie tight end seems to have aggravated at some point during the offseason. A three-time first-team All-Big 12 tight end, Kolar was a busy pass catcher at Iowa State thanks to his standout athleticism at 6-foot-7, 252 pounds (4.62-second 40, 7.0-second three-cone drill). Nick Boyle remains as Baltimore's clear run-blocking specialist and toolsy Josh Oliver could threaten to earn playing time in the Ravens' run-oriented offense, but it's pretty clear Kolar could fit in some sub packages early on and profiles as a solid receiving specialist in the near future.
