  • Dan Arnold: Expects to be cut by Eagles

The Eagles plan to release Darnold, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Arnold was competing for a depth tight end role in Philadelphia but ultimately came up short. The Eagles are doing the veteran a solid by releasing him before the final cut rush commences in order to give him a head start on seeking a new opportunity. The 28-year-old journeyman has spent time with the Saints, Cardinals, Panthers and Jaguars previously in his career.

  • Eagles' Dan Arnold: Joins Philly TE corps

Arnold has agreed to a one-year deal with the Eagles, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Arnold caught just nine passes on 13 targets for 135 yards in 17 games with the Jaguars last season, but in 2021 the 28-year-old logged a career-high 35 catches in 11 contests (three with Carolina and eight with Jacksonville). With the Eagles, Arnold will back up clear-cut starter Dallas Goedert, but in the event that Goedert misses any time, Arnold would have a chance to see some pass-catching opportunities in a tight end corps that also includes Jack Stoll, Grant Calcaterra, Tyree Jackson and Dalton Keene.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Nine catches in 2022

Arnold appeared in all 17 games during the 2022 regular season and caught nine of 13 targets for 135 yards. Arnold operated as a reserve tight end all season and played more than 15 offensive snaps in just one game. The 27-year-old is scheduled to hit free agency during the offseason, as is Evan Engram and Chris Manhertz. Luke Farrell is the only tight end on Jacksonville's roster currently under contract for 2023.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Draws three targets Week 15

Arnold played 14 of the Jaguars' 67 snaps on offense and finished with a five-yard catch across three targets in Sunday's 36-22 win over the Titans. In one of the best performances of his young career, quarterback Trevor Lawrence peppered the Jaguars' tight ends with targets. Though starter Evan Engram (11 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns on 15 targets) did the heavy lifting, Arnold and Chris Manhertz (one catch for 21 yards) also saw some involvement in the passing offense. So long as Engram is healthy, Arnold and Manhertz are unlikely to see their respective roles expand.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Plays just three snaps Sunday

Arnold played three of the Jaguars' 61 snaps on offense and wasn't targeted in the team's 28-27 win over the Ravens on Sunday. Arnold went without a target for the first time since Week 6 and tied his lowest snap count of the season. He remains behind Evan Engram and Chris Manhertz on the depth chart at tight end and appears unlikely to see his role expand over the final six weeks of the campaign.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Catches lone target

Arnold secured his only target for 24 yards during Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Giants. Arnold played 10 of 71 offensive snaps and brought in his only target during the first quarter. The 27-year-old has four receptions for 78 yards on the season as Evan Engram continues to operate as Jacksonville's No. 1 tight end.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Finishes season on sideline

Arnold (knee) wasn't among the players added to Jacksonville's roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's season finale against the Colts. Though Jacksonville restored Arnold from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, the tight end ultimately wasn't able to demonstrate enough progress in his recovery from an MCL sprain to gain clearance from injured reserve. He'll conclude the season with six straight absences, but he should head into the offseason as Jacksonville's No. 1 tight end after turning in a 28-324-0 receiving line on 41 targets over eight games following his acquisition from Carolina in late September. The Jaguars could still look to the draft or free-agent market to provide competition at the position, so Arnold may still have to fight for a starting job during training camp in 2022.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Back from COVID list

The Jaguars activated Arnold (knee) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday and restored him to injured reserve. Arnold was placed on the list Dec. 27, five days after being designated for return from IR. Now that he's cleared the NFL's COVID-19 return-to-play protocol, Arnold can turn his attention to proving that he's fully recovered from the sprained MCL he sustained Week 12. If Arnold fares well in practices Wednesday through Friday, he could be activated ahead of Sunday's season finale against the Colts, potentially stepping back in as the Jaguars' top tight end.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Lands on COVID list

Jacksonville placed Arnold (knee) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after he tested positive for the virus, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Arnold was designated to return from injured reserve last week but must now also contend with the COVID-19 protocols. He'll need to clear said protocols before returning to the practice field, with James O'Shaughnessy and Jacob Hollister currently the team's top available tight end options.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Cleared for practice

The Jaguars designated Arnold (knee) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, John Shipley of SI.com reports. Jacksonville will now have a 21-day window to evaluate Arnold for a return to the active roster, with the tight end eligible to practice during that time. A sprained MCL has caused Arnold to miss the last three games, but he could be able to play as soon as Sunday's contest against the Jets if he checks out well in practices Wednesday through Friday. Once deemed fully healthy, Arnold will likely overtake James O'Shaughnessy as the No. 1 option on the depth chart.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Could be done for the year

Arnold (knee) is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks due to an MCL sprain suffered during Sunday's loss to the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The Jaguars haven't yet confirmed the severity and details of Arnold's injury, but it looks like the tight end is set for a stint on IR. If his recovery timetable ends up being on the latter end of his window, he could end up missing the rest of the 2021 season. In any case, James O'Shaughnessy will step into the No. 1 role while Arnold is out, with Chris Manhertz also primed to see increased opportunities.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Injures knee Sunday

Arnold was forced out of Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a knee injury, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Prior to his exit from the contest, Arnold caught his only target for nine yards. In his absence, James O'Shaughnessy and Chris Manhertz are available to handle the Jaguars' Week 12 tight end duties.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Disappears entirely

Arnold drew zero targets against San Francisco on Sunday. Arnold had been one of the most targeted tight ends in the league in the five games prior to Sunday, a span in which he saw 38 looks. Therefore, Sunday's disappearing act was especially puzzling. If the Jaguars activate James O'Shaughnessy (ankle) from injured reserve, Arnold could see a reduced role for the balance of the season; O'Shaughnessy drew nine targets on just 56 snaps to start the season before suffering his ankle injury Week 2.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Remains involved in loss

Arnold secured five of seven targets for 67 yards in the Jaguars' 23-17 loss to the Colts on Sunday. The journeyman tight end continued to prove an excellent fit in the Jaguars' passing attack, notching team highs in receptions and receiving yards while checking in second in targets. Arnold now has between four and eight receptions and at least 60 yards in each of his last three games, keeping him viable in all formats for a Week 11 home matchup against the 49ers.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Effective on seven targets

Arnold caught four passes for 60 yards on seven targets against Buffalo on Sunday. Arnold was arguably Jacksonville's most effective player on offense, leading the Jaguars in all receiving categories and offering some semblance of a pass-catching threat on a day where the passing attack garnered just 151 yards on 28 attempts. The season-ending injury to DJ Chark left Arnold as one of Jacksonville's only pass catchers with any height or reach, and so far it's resulted in consistent usage for the journeyman tight end most weeks.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Busy in blowout loss

Arnold caught eight receptions for 68 yards on 10 targets against Seattle on Sunday. Arnold was by far the most effective target for Jacksonville on Sunday, but that's not saying much in a game where quarterback Trevor Lawrence averaged just 4.4 yards per pass on 54 attempts. Arnold should continue to see his target volume benefit from the combination of Jacksonville's dearth of viable pass catchers and the fact the Jaguars are forced to play from behind from relatively early in nearly every game. Arnold could be surprisingly useful going forward in PPR formats, though a Week 9 matchup with Buffalo is not encouraging.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Leads team in receiving

Arnold caught six of eight targets for 64 yards against Tennessee on Sunday. Arnold lost a fumble early in the game, but the 37-19 final score implies it didn't play much of a role in the loss. More importantly than the fumble, Arnold led the Jaguars in all receiving categories -- tying Jamal Agnew for six receptions and eight targets but producing 23 more yards than Agnew did (41). Particularly in light of the Week 4 injury to DJ Chark (ankle), the Jaguars should continue sending the ball in Arnold's direction. Jacksonville sees Miami in Week 6.

  • Jaguars' Dan Arnold: Two receptions in team debut

Arnold brought in both his targets for 29 yards in the Jaguars' 24-21 loss to the Bengals on Thursday night. Arnold took the field just three days after being traded to the Jaguars from the Panthers, and the veteran tight ended finished second in receiving yards to Laviska Shenault on his new squad. Arnold has multiple catches in all four games he's played this season between Carolina and Jacksonville, and he'll now have some extra time to get a grasp on his new playbook ahead of a Week 5 matchup against the Titans a week from Sunday.

  • Panthers' Dan Arnold: Likely being traded to Jacksonville

The Panthers are expected to trade Arnold to Jacksonville in a deal that includes Jaguars CB C.J. Henderson, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Arnold didn't have much competition for TE targets in Carolina, but he also wasn't needed for a large role, seeing 11 targets on 38.5 percent snap share through three weeks. He could get more playing time in Jacksonville, as the Jaguars are arguably even weaker than the Panthers at tight end, plus they're more likely to be forced into catch-up mode -- which is when a blocking-challenged TE like Arnold is more likely to see snaps and targets. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Jaguars were in the mix to sign Arnold back in March before he ultimately agreed to terms with Carolina.

  • Panthers' Dan Arnold: Catches two passes

Arnold caught two of four targets for 23 yards in Thursday night's 24-9 win over the Texans. Arnold's only unsuccessful targets came on tight-window throws while taking hits down the seam. Although he's had at least two catches in each game this season, Arnold hasn't enjoyed his signature performance as a Panther yet. In fact, he still played fewer snaps Thursday than fellow tight end Ian Thomas, and rookie Tommy Tremble actually performed the best of the group, finishing with 37 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. Carolina's depth at the position has hurt Arnold's upside, but he'll nonetheless strive to remain involved as a pass catcher in Week 4 versus the Cowboys.
