Player Outlook
The initial reports on Gallup this offseason have been encouraging, and he could be a surprise Fantasy option in 2023. At best, Gallup is worth a late-round flier in all leagues, but most likely he'll be a waiver wire option during the season. While Gallup will have a prominent role for the Cowboys, it's a crowded receiving corps with CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. Gallup, who is a year removed from his ACL tear, will still command plenty of targets from Dak Prescott, but he'll have to prove himself to Fantasy managers after a down season in 2022. He started to come on late in the year, scoring at least 11 PPR points in three of his final seven outings, but he only averaged 30.3 yards per game and 10.9 yards per catch, which were both career lows. Everyone in Dallas is encouraged by Gallup this offseason, so keep an eye on him in training camp, and he could be a good receiver to have on your bench during the year.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Just one grab in Thanksgiving win

Gallup caught his only target for 13 yards in a 45-10 win over the Commanders on Thanksgiving. Dak Prescott spread the ball around in the rout and completed passes to 10 different Cowboys, but Gallup was one of the six who has only one reception. The veteran wideout was also on the field for a season-low 18 snaps on offense as younger options like Jalen Tolbert (20 snaps) and Jalen Brooks (six snaps) see their roles grow. Gallup hasn't caught more than three passes in a game since Week 4 and has topped 31 receiving yards only once in that stretch. While every Dallas receiver has some big-play potential given how hot Prescott is right now, it would likely take an injury or two for Gallup's volume to increase significantly.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Three grabs against Carolina

Gallup caught three of five targets for 31 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers. The Cowboys spread the ball around more than usual in a 33-10 rout, as nine different Dallas players caught multiple passes from Dak Prescott, and Gallup's production didn't stand out from the pack. The veteran wideout hasn't made a big impact this season but has established a steady floor with multiple receptions in eight straight games, posting a modest 25-331-1 line on 41 targets over that stretch.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Finally finds end zone Sunday

Gallup caught both his targets for 70 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 49-17 rout of the Giants. The veteran wideout was on the other end of a 41-yard TD toss from Dak Prescott in the third quarter, which was the third of four touchdown passes on the day for the QB. The score was Gallup's first of the season, while the yardage total was his second highest of 2023, and he hasn't caught more than three passes in a game since Week 4. Despite Prescott's recent eruption -- he's thrown for over 1,000 yards over the last three contests -- Gallup still hasn't been prominently featured in the game plan, and he seems to be no better than Dallas' No. 4 option in the passing attack behind wide receiversCeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks and tight end Jake Ferguson.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Little usage against Philly

Gallup caught two of three targets for 19 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. Despite the fact that Dak Prescott attempted 44 passes and threw for 374 yards, Gallup was barely involved in the offense once again. The veteran wideout hasn't reached 25 receiving yards in four straight games, and there's little reason to expect better numbers Week 10 against the Giants given that the Cowboys barely needed to throw the ball at all the first time these teams met this season in a 40-0 rout for Dallas in Week 1.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Gets back to full participation

Gallup (illness) practiced fully Thursday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. Gallup was absent to kick off Week 9 prep due to an illness, but after the day off, he was able to handle every practice rep Thursday. He could be in store for a spike in production Sunday against an Eagles defense that has given up the most catches (134) and total touchdowns (13) to opposing wide receivers in eight games on the campaign.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Back at practice Thursday

Gallup (illness) returned to practice Thursday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Gallup saw his playing time dialed back in last Sunday's win over the Rams, playing a season-low 51 percent of the offensive snaps, as Jalen Tolbert saw increased work behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. Gallup has failed to crack 24 yards in any of his last three games and in five of seven games overall. With that in mind, he's off the fantasy radar outside of deeper leagues.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Idle for practice with illness

Gallup didn't participate in Wednesday's practice due to an illness, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Provided Gallup isn't dealing with anything more than a cold or minor bug, he should have a good chance to play Sunday in Philadelphia. He'll have opportunities to practice again Thursday and Friday and put himself in position to play this weekend.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Two grabs in Sunday's rout

Gallup caught two of three targets for 20 yards in Sunday's win over the Rams. Dak Prescott had his best game of the season, racking up 304 passing yards and four TDs, but Gallup saw little of that production. The veteran wideout saw his lowest target volume since Week 2, and over the last three contests he's managed just a 7-59-0 line on 18 targets. Despite his poor recent performances, Gallup could get into the end zone for the first time in 2023 during Week 9's clash with an Eagles secondary that's given up 12 touchdowns to WRs through eight games, the second-highest total in the league.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Inefficient in Week 6 win

Gallup secured three of 10 targets for 24 yards in the Cowboys' 20-17 win over the Chargers on Monday. Gallup's team- and season-high target total largely went for naught against an aggressive Chargers defense, leading to another modest showing for the veteran wideout. He's now recorded less than 25 receiving yards in four of the first six games, and he's followed up a solid two-game surge in Weeks 3-4 when he posted an 11-152-0 line on 13 targets with just five receptions for 39 yards in the next pair of contests. Gallup's next opportunity to reverse course comes in a Week 8 home matchup against the Rams on Sunday, Oct. 29 following a Week 7 bye.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Sleeper WRs

Prior to Week 5 at San Francisco when the Cowboys were blasted 42-10, Gallup had started to gain momentum as a potential No. 3 Fantasy receiver in all leagues. He had two games in a row with at least six targets, five catches and 60 yards, and he scored at least 11 PPR points in each outing against the Cardinals in Week 3 and the Patriots in Week 4. I expect him to get back on track in Week 6 at the Chargers, who are No. 3 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. Seven receivers have scored at least 11.2 PPR points against the Chargers in just four games, and Gallup should have success in this matchup on Monday night.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Held to two receptions Sunday

Gallup had two receptions on five targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 42-10 loss to the 49ers. Gallup was coming off his two most productive games of the season before running into a brick wall in the form of the 49ers' defense, as San Francisco didn't allow a single Dallas receiver to gain over 50 yards. Gallup did finish in a three-way tie with CeeDee Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson for the team lead in targets, with Brandin Cooks not far behind with four. Gallup and the entire offense will attempt to get right in a favorable matchup against the Chargers next Monday.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Sleeper WRs

Gallup has worked his way into the conversation as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver, especially with four teams on a bye. In his past two games, Gallup has 11 catches for 152 yards on 13 targets, and he's scored at least 11.0 PPR points in both outings against the Cardinals and Patriots. He has passed Brandin Cooks as the No. 2 receiver for the Cowboys behind CeeDee Lamb, and Dak Prescott should continue to lean on Gallup in this tough road game at San Francisco in Week 5.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Week 5 Waiver Priority List

Gallup has looked good for the past two games against Arizona and Dallas, and he's established himself as the No. 2 receiver for the Cowboys opposite CeeDee Lamb, ahead of Brandin Cooks. Gallup has 11 catches for 152 yards on 13 targets over that span, and he scored at least 11 PPR points in each outing. We'll see if he can maintain this level of play, but Gallup is worth adding in deeper leagues for 1 percent of your FAB.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Remains more invovled

Gallup recorded five receptions on six targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 38-3 win over the Patriots. Gallup finished second on the team in targets, receptions and yards, trailing only Jake Ferguson. The majority of his production came on a pair of grabs that went for 29 and 19 yards, both of which occurred on drives that ended in points for Dallas. After starting the season slowly, Gallup has combined to record 11 catches for 152 yards across his last two contests.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Wakes up in Week 3

Gallup caught six of seven targets for 92 yards in Sunday's 28-16 loss to the Cardinals. After managing only one reception in each of Dallas' first two games, Gallup broke out and led the team in catches and receiving yards as Arizona largely held CeeDee Lamb in check. It's Gallup's best performance since he put up a 5-106-0 line against the Raiders in Week 12 of the 2021 campaign, before his ACL surgery. He'll look to carry some momentum into Week 4's clash with a Patriots defense that's been stingy through the air so far this season.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Quiet in Week 2 win

Gallup caught one of two targets for three yards in Sunday's win over the Jets. Even with Brandin Cooks (knee) inactive, Gallup wasn't much of a factor in the Cowboys' passing game, and second-year wideout Jalen Tolbert saw more looks from Dak Prescott on the rare occasions the quarterback wasn't throwing the ball to CeeDee Lamb or Tony Pollard. Gallup could be in danger of slipping to the No. 4 spot on the WR depth chart, and his fantasy outlook will be dim in Week 3 as Dallas isn't likely to need much production through the air against the winless Cardinals.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Held to one catch in opener

Gallup caught one of two targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 40-0 rout of the Giants. The Cowboys' passing game didn't need to do much on a night when the team's special teams and defense each scored TDs in the first quarter, and while Gallup's volume was low, no Dallas wideout had more than four targets. He still appears to be the clear No. 3 WR behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks, however, and tight end Jake Ferguson (seven targets Sunday) and running back Tony Pollard (three targets) also will demand their share of Dak Prescott's attention. Gallup will have better days this season, but his weekly floor will be low.

  • Cowboys' Michael Gallup: Feeling good again

Gallup (knee/ankle) said Wednesday that he feels "springy again" after dealing with knee soreness for much of last season, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. His recovery from arthroscopic knee and ankle procedures in January unsurprisingly was much easier than his rehab from surgery to repair a torn ACL the preceding February. Gallup made it back on the field less than eight months after his major surgery last year, missing only the first three games before suiting up for 16 in a row (including playoffs). The 27-year-old seems to be healthy now and should improve on his 2022 career-low averages of 30.3 yards per game and 5.7 yards per target, but Gallup doesn't project for much volume as the likely third option at wideout after the Cowboys traded for Brandin Cooks in the offseason. Dallas also brought in an offensive coordinator who is considered more run-focused than predecessor Kellen Moore, though the Cowboys' other offseason moves don't lend to the notion of a higher rush rate under new coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
