  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Signing with Colts

The Colts have agreed to terms with Minshew, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Minshew's one-year deal is for $3.5 million (fully guaranteed) and could be worth up to $5.5 million with incentives. The 2019 sixth-rounder joins the Colts a day after the team officially released veteran signal-caller Matt Ryan. The addition of Minshew gives Indy an option with NFL starting experience ahead of the 2023 season, but it remains to be seen how the rest of the QB depth chart will end up shaking out, with the franchise likely to continue bolstering the position, quite possibly via next month's draft.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Solid as backup in 2022

Minshew completed 44 of 76 passes for 663 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions across five appearances (two starts) with the Eagles in 2022. He also had seven carries for three yards and a score, plus four fumbles (one lost). Minshew started Weeks 16 and 17, against the Cowboys and Saints, resulting in two losses for the Eagles while Jalen Hurts missed time due to a shoulder injury. The soon-to-be 27-year-old is scheduled to hit free agency when the new league year begins, though Philadelphia could have motivation to re-sign him and keep total consistency at the quarterback position. In any case, Minshew shouldn't have trouble find a backup role for the 2023 campaign.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Headed back to No. 2 role

Minshew is set to return to the backup role Sunday against the Giants with Jalen Hurts (shoulder) listed as questionable but slated to start at quarterback in the regular-season finale, ESPN.com reports. While filling in for Hurts in losses to the Cowboys and Saints in Weeks 16 and 17, respectively, Minshew completed 42 of 72 pass attempts for 629 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions to go with five rushing yards and another score. Though Hurts practiced in some capacity all week and isn't expected to be limited Sunday while the Eagles look to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs with a win, the Giants are heavy underdogs and will be starting their third-string quarterback (Davis Webb) while also likely resting several other key players. With that in mind, it wouldn't be surprising if Minshew ends up getting in some snaps in relief of Hurts during the second half if the Eagles have turned the game into a blowout.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Big second half in loss

Minshew completed 18 of 32 passes for 274 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Saints. Minshew had a disastrous first half, as he was sacked five times as opposed to completing only six passes. He turned things around in the final two quarters, primarily thanks to a 78-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown. Minshew also threw a pick-six with five minutes remaining in the game, sealing a loss for Philadelphia. It remains to be seen whether Jalen Hurts (shoulder) will return for a Week 18 matchup against the Giants, which will dictate whether Minshew will have the chance to start a third-straight game.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Starting again Sunday

Minshew is in line to start Sunday's game against the Saints in place of an inactive Jalen Hurts (shoulder), Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Minshew will be afforded a second consecutive start with Hurts tending to a sprained right throwing shoulder. In a Week 16 loss at Dallas, Minshew completed 24 of 40 passes for 355 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, scored a TD on the ground and also lost a fumble.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Minshew is only listed in the sleeper category because there's a chance Jalen Hurts (shoulder) can play in Week 17 against the Saints. If we find out that Hurts is out again and Minshew is starting then I like him as a low-end starter in all leagues. He did well in Week 16 at Dallas with 26 Fantasy points despite three turnovers, and he passed for 355 yards and two touchdowns, along with a rushing score. It's not an easy matchup against the Saints, who have allowed just one quarterback to score more than 19 Fantasy points since Week 6, but Minshew has plenty of weapons to produce at a high level. If he starts in Week 17 then you can trust him as a No. 1 quarterback in your Fantasy championship.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: In line to start Sunday

Minshew is slated to start Sunday's game against the Saints, Stacey Dales of NFL Network reports. With Jalen Hurts (right shoulder) not in line to play Sunday, a notion that will be confirmed once the Eagles' inactives are posted ahead the team's 1:00 ET kickoff, Minshew is poised to make his second straight start. In the team's Week 16 loss to the Cowboys, Minshew completed 24 of 40 passes for 355 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while adding four carries for five yards and another TD.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Likely starting with Hurts doubtful

Minshew is on track to start Sunday's game against New Orleans with fellow Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) listed as doubtful, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that Hurts showed progress when he returned to practice this week, but the Eagles are being cautious and figure to hold him out for another game. They won't have any playoff implications in Week 18 if Minshew leads them to victory this Sunday, so his odds for a third start partially depend on how he plays. Standout RT Lane Johnson (adductor) is out this Sunday, but even without him the Eagles have an above-average offensive line and one of the best groups of skill-position talent in the league. RB Miles Sanders (knee) and WR A.J. Brown (knee) both have been cleared for Sunday after missing out on some practice reps this week.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Adds/Streamers (QB Preview)

I'm listing Minshew first, because he's my favorite option if Jalen Hurts is out. But Hurts did practice on Thursday. If Minshew starts, I wouldn't expect another 26-point outburst, but something in the 20-to-22 point range is more likely. Don't worry too much about the Saints' recent success versus quarterbacks; they haven't faced a Fantasy starter since Week 9.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Week 17 Waiver Priority List

Minshew is worth using as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy quarterback if he starts again for Jalen Hurts (shoulder) in Week 17 against the Saints. In typical Minshew fashion, he had some good plays against the Cowboys in Week 16 but also made mistakes with three turnovers (two interceptions and a fumble). He finished with 26 Fantasy points, and he's capable of that again against New Orleans. Now the Saints have allowed just one quarterback to score more than 19 Fantasy points since Week 6, but Minshew has plenty of weapons to produce at a high level. Keep an eye on Hurts since he could return in Week 17, but if he's out then Minshew can help you again in the Fantasy championship.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Two TDs offset by three turnovers

Minshew completed 24 of 40 passes for 355 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, had four carries for five yards and another TD and fumbled twice (one lost) during Saturday's 40-34 loss at Dallas. After handling all the first-team reps during Week 16 prep, Minshew got his first start of the season (and first since Week 18 of the 2021 campaign) for an injured Jalen Hurts, who is dealing with a sprained right shoulder. It's unclear if this will be the first of a handful of nods for Minshew down the stretch, but he fared well with volume while also committing at least three turnovers for the first time since Week 9 of his rookie 2019 season. With a pair of top wide receivers to work with in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, both of whom reached 100 yards Saturday, Minshew has enough skill-position talent to produce as long as he's directing the Eagles offense. If Hurts yields his starting spot to Minshew again Week 17, the latter will be facing the Saints on Sunday, Jan. 1.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Week 17 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

Minshew played a lot better than his line, and his line was plenty good. The two interceptions were hardly his fault – Quez Watkins got his hands on both passes and was just beat to it by a Cowboys defender both times. Otherwise, Minshew was pretty terrific in a tough matchup. Having the kind of elite playmakers the Eagles have certainly helps, just like we expected it to. It's not 100% certain Minshew will start in Week 16 against the Saints, but at this point I'd bet on it – the Eagles still only need to win one of their final two to lock up the No. 1 seed despite Saturday's loss. Doing what he did against the Cowboys should make Minshew a pretty easy top-12 QB in the rankings next week.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

We'll find out if Minshew is starting for the injured Jalen Hurts (shoulder) this week, and if he does then I like Minshew as a low-end starter in all leagues. He started two games for the Eagles in 2021 (without A.J. Brown on the roster) and scored 22 Fantasy points at the Jets in Week 13 and 18 points against the Cowboys in Week 18. The matchup at Dallas is tough, but Trevor Lawrence just lit up that defense for 34 Fantasy points in Week 15. I don't expect Minshew to replicate that, but he could be the fifth quarterback this season to top 20 points against Dallas.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Sneaky Sleeper (Lineup Decisions)

Minshew has all the qualities you look for in a Fantasy quarterback: In a strong offense with good receivers against a defense that isn't going to completely crush him. If there's a concern, it's that the Eagles may try to run the ball a little more than last week (14 running back carries). That could lower the passing volume for Minshew, but any success from the Cowboys offense would push the game into being relatively high scoring. That would help Minshew. I wouldn't expect any more than 21 Fantasy points, but that's a heck of a lot better than what you should get this week from Jared Goff, Derek Carr, Daniel Jones or Deshaun Watson. I would start Tom Brady over Minshew.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Named Week 16 starter

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Thursday that Minshew will start Saturday's game in Dallas, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports. Though Sirianni noted that MVP candidate Jalen Hurts pushed to play through his sprained throwing shoulder, the Eagles won't take any chances with their top signal-caller after he failed to practice in any fashion Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect Hurts to be formally ruled out for the Week 16 contest following Thursday's practice, leaving third-stringer Ian Book to dress as the backup to Minshew, who picks up his first start of the season after making his other three appearances in 2022 at the tail end of blowouts. Minshew previously made two starts in place of Hurts in the 2021 season and fared well in those outings, completing 67.2 percent of his throws for 7.4 yards per attempt and a 4:1 TD:INT. Given his past performance and favorable team context, Minshew should make for a viable lineup option in leagues that start two quarterbacks or have a superflex spot available.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Adds/Streamers (QB Preview)

Minshew is the clear top add at quarterback, even with Nick Sirianni saying Jalen Hurts hasn't yet been ruled out yet. If Hurts does in fact play, you can add one of the handful of other options that simply aren't that different. Minshew is the only streamer available who cracks our top 12 this week.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Gets first-team reps

Minshew is taking first-team reps at practice Wednesday, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports. Minshew missed Tuesday's practice for personal reasons, while Jalen Hurts was sidelined by a shoulder sprain that has his availability for Saturday's game against the Cowboys in serious doubt. With Hurts absent again Wednesday, Minshew appears increasingly likely to make his first start of the season this weekend, though nothing has been confirmed yet.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Out Tuesday, but poised for start

Minshew didn't participate in Tuesday's walk-through practice due to a personal matter, but at this stage of the week, he appears to be trending toward starting Saturday's game at Dallas while top quarterback Jalen Hurts tends to a sprained throwing shoulder, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Hurts was also listed as a non-participant on Philadelphia's first Week 16 practice report, and while both he and head coach Nick Sirianni aren't dismissing the possibility of the signal-caller playing through his injury Saturday, the Eagles' two-game edge over the Vikings for the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs could be enough for the team to err on the side of caution and hold him out this weekend. According to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, Minshew was excused from Tuesday's practice while he attended funeral services for his college head coach, Mike Leach, but Minshew is expected back in the Philadelphia area later Tuesday and should have plenty of time to get prepared for the possible Week 16 starting assignment. All 24 of Minshew's snaps thus far in 2022 have largely come in garbage-time scenarios, but he shined in two starts for Philadelphia last season, completing 67.2 percent of his throws for 7.4 yards per attempt and a 4:1 TD:INT in games against the Jets and Cowboys.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

Minshew is expected to start in Week 16 at Dallas with Jalen Hurts (shoulder) injured, and Minshew should be considered a low-end starter in all leagues. He started two games for the Eagles in 2021 (without A.J. Brown on the roster) and scored 22 Fantasy points at the Jets in Week 13 and 18 points against the Cowboys in Week 18. The matchup at Dallas is tough, but Trevor Lawrence just lit up this defense for 34 Fantasy points in Week 15. I don't expect Minshew to replicate that, but he could be the fifth quarterback this season to top 20 points against Dallas. He's an easy fallback option if you just lost Hurts as your Fantasy starter.

  • Eagles' Gardner Minshew: Makes two spot starts in 2021

Minshew completed 41 of 60 passes for 439 yards, four touchdowns and an interception across four appearances during the 2021 campaign. He also added nine rushing attempts for 21 yards. While he made four appearances, the majority of Minshew's production came in two spot starts. In Week 13, he drew the nod against the Jets while Jalen Hurts (ankle) was sidelined, leading the Eagles to a win by completing 20 of 25 passes for 242 yards and two scores. In regular-season finale, Minshew once again took the reins from Hurts -- who was resting for the playoffs -- and completed 19 of 33 passes for 186 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, while leading Philadelphia past Dallas. Minshew is under contract for the 2022 season, but his name likely will be mentioned in trade talks after the Eagles expressed confidence in Hurts moving forward.
