  • Bills' Baylon Spector: Fighting for top reserve role

Spector (back) is expected to compete with Dorian Williams for Buffalo's top backup role at linebacker, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Spector appears to be recovered from the back injury that ended his 2023 season early, and his spot on the 53-man roster heading into training camp appears secure due to his standing as a key special-teams contributor. Because of his draft capital as a 2023 third-round pick, Williams will likely be the favorite to win the top backup role this offseason, but Spector could have a solid chance to earn more opportunities if he can impress in workouts.

With Terrel Bernard (concussion) listed as questionable for Monday night's contest, Spector could see an increased role on the Bills' defense in his 2023 debut.

  • Bills' Baylon Spector: Week 1 in jeopardy

Head coach Sean McDermott noted Sunday that Spector is considered "week-to-week" with a hamstring injury, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Spector left Saturday's preseason game against the Bears and did not return. The injury timeline offered by McDermott means that Spector's status for the Bills' Week 1 matchup against the Jets on Sept. 11 is up in the air.
