  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Fifth-year option exercised

The Lions picked up Hutchinson's (lower leg) fifth-year option Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Hutchinson is now under contract through 2026 and has a projected salary of $19.78 million in the fifth and final year of his rookie deal. The 2022 first-round pick continues to rehab and recover from a fractured tibia and fibula in his left leg that he suffered in Week 6 against the Cowboys, and he's expected to participate in OTAs and be fully healthy by the start of training camp in July.

  • Lions' Dominic Lovett: Lions add Round 7 wideout

The Lions selected Lovett in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 244th overall.

There was a time where Lovett (5-foot-10, 185 pounds) appeared headed toward something more like the first round of the draft, because during his sophomore year at Missouri he caught 56 receptions for 846 yards and three touchdowns on 74 targets (75.7 percent catch rate, 11.4 yards per target) -- excellent figures for a true sophomore in the SEC. Lovett's production largely fell apart from that point, though -- Lovett transferred to Georgia for his junior season, but drops were a recurring issue, and in his senior season Lovett's yards-per-target figure dropped all the way to 6.5. The Lions will presumably try to work Lovett in the slot, where perhaps his hands improve so that Lovett can fully capitalize on his 4.40 speed.

  • Lions' Dan Jackson: Added by Lions

The Lions selected Jackson in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 230th overall.

Jackson played sparingly on defense through his first five years at Georgia before taking over as starting safety in 2024. Through 14 games in his final season, Jackson posted 64 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups and two interceptions. The 24-year-old boosted his draft stock at the Senior Bowl, where he was named the top safety. However, his starting experience is still limited, and he'll need to find a role on special teams in Detroit.

  • Lions' Ahmed Hassanein: Lions add fiery Round 6 edge rusher

The Lions selected Hassanein in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 196th overall.

Hassanein (6-foot-2, 267 pounds) lacks the ideal height and reach (32 and 1/4-inch arms) to play on the edge, but his Boise State production has shown Hassanein has a considerable amount of innate skill at shedding blockers at the point of attack. Hassanein really took off in his third season, at which point he became a three-down starter and raced his way to 22.0 sacks and 32.0 tackles for loss over the next 28 games. As a high-motor grit guy, Hassanein should fit in just fine with the Lions.

  • Lions' Miles Frazier: Joining pride in Detroit

The Lions selected Frazier in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 171st overall.

Frazier started for three seasons along the offensive line at LSU, primarily serving as a right guard for the Tigers. He sports the necessary strength and toughness to play the spot, but his athleticism will likely be tested on the inside. Frazier figures to slide in as a depth guard on a strong Lions offensive front with the possibility of developing into a contributor. He's the second guard drafted by the Lions in 2025, joining second-round pick Tate Ratledge.

  • Lions' Isaac TeSlaa: Target of trade up by Detroit

The Lions selected TeSlaa in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 70th overall.

Detroit made a big move up from No.102 to get TeSlaa out of Arkansas. The production won't stand out -- TeSlaa never had more than 34 catches or 545 yards in either of his two seasons in Fayetteville. However, the under-the-hood numbers are what caught Detroit's attention. TeSlaa averaged a ridiculous 15.1 yards per target in 2024 and caught 28 of his 36 targets for 545 yards and three scores. He checks in at 6-foot-4 and 214 pounds with big-time athleticism for that size, headlined by a 39.5-inch vertical and 4.05-second short shuttle. TeSlaa is raw and requires some projection, but it's clear there are tools that could be developed. Detroit giving up two third-round picks next year to grab him shows that the Lions believe they can get the most out of him. In time, he could supplant Tim Patrick for a role in Detroit's offense.

  • Lions' Tate Ratledge: Lions add Round 2 OL help

The Lions selected Ratledge in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 57th overall.

Ratledge (6-foot-7, 308 pounds) has a frame better suited to tackle but lacks the arms (32 and 1/4 inches) to play the position. The Lions were evidently not concerned about Ratledge maintaining leverage against shorter defensive linemen, and if they're correct in their assessment, there aren't many other weaknesses in his game. Ratledge was a productive starter at Georgia and his athleticism is of blue-chip quality (4.97-second 40-yard dash, 32-inch vertical jump, 113-inch broad jump, 7.38-second three-cone drill), so he will presumably compete for the starting right guard role in Detroit.

  • Lions' Jameson Williams: Gets fifth-year option

The Lions picked up Williams' fifth-year option Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

As expected, Williams is now under contract through 2026, with a projected $15.49 million salary for the fifth and final season of his rookie deal. The Lions may be hesitant to discuss an extension after Williams' breakout third season in 2024, considering his first two NFL campaigns largely were defined by injuries and suspensions. He cleared 1,000 receiving yards on just 91 targets in 15 regular-season games last year, adding 11 carries for 61 yards and a TD, plus two touches for 80 yards and a score in one playoff game. Williams is safe in his starting job but may find it difficult to significantly improve on last year's 6.1 targets per game while sharing the field with WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, TE Sam LaPorta and RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery -- all of whom will be adjusting to new offensive coordinator John Morton, after Ben Johnson left for Chicago's HC job.

  • Lions' Tyleik Williams: Links up with Lions

The Lions selected Williams in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 28th overall.

The interior of Detroit's defensive line got tested last season, particularly when Alim McNeill went down with a torn ACL late in the year. Williams helps bridge that gap and adds depth once McNeill is ready to return. The Ohio State product is a massive presence in the middle at 6-foot-3 and 334 pounds with an ability to penetrate and make stops in the backfield (18 TFL, 5.5 sacks over last two seasons). If Detroit was searching for a big body with some disruptive capabilities, Williams fits that bill perfectly.
