  • Radek Faksa C | DAL

Stars' Radek Faksa: Out again Wednesday

Faksa (undisclosed) won't suit up for Wednesday's Game 5 versus the Golden Knights, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Faksa will miss a third straight game despite being labeled a game-time call each time. The 30-year-old will likely take on a fourth-line role once he's cleared to return, though it's unclear when that may be.

  • Islanders' Mathew Barzal: Snags two helpers in loss

Barzal notched a pair of assists in a 6-3 Game 5 loss to the Hurricanes on Tuesday.

Barzal put up decent numbers in the postseason, recording two goals and three assists in five games. Still, it wasn't enough to get the Isles past Carolina and into the next round of the playoffs. During the regular season, the 26-year-old center averaged a point per game, a scoring rate he hasn't achieved since the 2017-18 campaign when he was a rookie.

  • Sam Bennett C | FLA

Panthers' Sam Bennett: Set to resume skating

Bennett (upper body) is expected to skate Thursday for the first time since he was injured April 23. He might be available for Game 1 of Florida's second-round matchup against the winner of the Boston-Toronto series, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.

Bennett missed the final three contests of the first round due to the injury. He had 20 goals, 41 points, 100 PIM and 173 hits in 69 regular-season appearances. Bennett is likely to serve in a top-six capacity once he's healthy.

  • Hurricanes' Evgeny Kuznetsov: Two-point effort Tuesday

Kuznetsov collected a goal and an assist Tuesday in a 6-3 win over the Islanders in Game 5.

The 31-year-old center scored on a penalty shot midway through the first period, then helped set up a Stefan Noesen tally early in the third. Kuznetsov was productive against the Isles, producing two two-point performances in five games despite a bottom-six role, but his main value to the Hurricanes came at the faceoff dot -- he won nine of his 12 draws Tuesday.

  • Seth Jarvis C | CAR

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Three points to finish off Isles

Jarvis scored a goal and added two assists, one on the power play, in a 6-3 win over the Islanders on Tuesday in Game 5.

The 22-year-old helped set up Carolina's first two tallies as the team grabbed a 2-0 lead inside the first four minutes of the first period, then iced things late with an empty-netter. Jarvis piled up three goals and seven points in five games against the Isles, giving him plenty of momentum heading into the Hurricanes' second-round clash with the Rangers.

  • Radek Faksa C | DAL

Stars' Radek Faksa: Game-time call versus Vegas

Faksa (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's Game 5 clash with the Golden Knights, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports.

Faksa was a game-time call for each of the previous two contests but didn't suit up in either, so he is far from a lock to play in Game 5. The Czech center is pointless in his last eight appearances while registering 11 shots, 19 hits and one block. Even if cleared to play versus Vegas, Faksa figures to remain in a bottom-six role, limiting his overall fantasy value.

  • Brock Nelson C | NYI

Islanders' Brock Nelson: Two points in Game 5 loss

Nelson scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist Tuesday in a 6-3 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 5.

The 32-year-old center did his best to keep his team alive in an elimination game, but the Isles simply didn't have the firepower to keep up with Carolina. Nelson picked up two goals and four points in five postseason contests after supplying 34 goals and 69 points in the regular season, his third straight campaign with 30-plus goals. He has one more season left on his current contract with a $6 million AAV but just $4 million in salary left on the deal.

  • Predators' Gustav Nyquist: Earns helper in Game 5 win

Nyquist produced an assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Canucks in Game 5.

Nyquist set up Alexandre Carrier for the game-winning goal in the third period. The 34-year-old Nyquist has a goal, three assists, five shots on net and five hits over five playoff appearances. The winger should continue to fill a playmaking role on the Predators' top line as they return home for another elimination game Friday.

  • Jets' Gabriel Vilardi: Slides assist Tuesday

Vilardi recorded a power-play assist, three shots on goal, two hits and a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Avalanche in Game 5.

Vilardi picked up four helpers, nine shots on net, four hits, six PIM and a minus-4 rating over five playoff contests. The 24-year-old had 36 points in just 47 regular-season outings, frequently featuring in a top-six role for the Jets. He is under contract for 2024-25 and should return to a similar assignment, which could put him in line for a breakout year before he reaches restricted free agency.

  • Jets' Mark Scheifele: Contributes assist in loss

Scheifele produced an assist, three shots on goal, three hits, four blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Avalanche in Game 5.

Scheifele was solid with two goals and four assists over five playoff outings, but he also went minus-6 in the first-round series. The center had 10 shots on net and 13 hits as well. Scheifele is secure as a cornerstone of the Jets' roster for years to come, as his seven-year contract extension begins in 2024-25. He should continue to see top-line minutes and ample power-play time next season.
