  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Carted off field in wild-card game

Slay injured his back in Monday's wild-card game against Tampa Bay and was carted off the field, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports. The injury occurred while Slay attempted to make a tackle in the fourth quarter. He grabbed at his back and remained down for some time before being carted to the locker room. Slay had just come back from a different injury -- he missed the Eagles' final four games of the regular season due to a knee issue.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: On track to play Monday

Slay (knee) was a full participant at practice Thursday. Slay also said Thursday that his knee feels "a thousand times better" than it did before the surgery he underwent on it prior to Week 15, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports. His availability should provide a huge boost to an Eagles defense preparing to square off against Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in Tampa Bay.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Won't play Week 17

Slay (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Slay was held out of practice all week as he continues to nurse a knee issue, so it's no surprise that the 32-year-old cornerback will be inactive for the third game in a row Sunday. With Slay missing the Week 17 affair, expect both Kelee Ringo and Bradley Roby to see increased snaps in the Eagles' secondary.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Considered unavailable Wednesday

Slay (knee) was considered a nonparticipant at the Eagles' walkthrough Wednesday. Slay has missed the last two contests while recovering from a procedure he underwent on his knee and he has now opened the week on the sidelines once again in Week 17. The cornerback will likely have to participate in some capacity at one of Philadelphia's final two practices this week in order to be available for Sunday's matchup with Arizona.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Without timetable for return

Slay (knee) said Friday that he "wouldn't give a timeline" for his return, EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. • Eagles' Darius Slay: Undergoes surgery

Slay underwent arthroscopic knee surgery this week and is out for Monday's game against the Seahawks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The five-time Pro Bowl cornerback is expected to return to action before the regular season concludes, per Schefter, though Slay could be at risk of missing additional time beyond Week 15. Through 12 appearances this season, Slay has recorded 57 tackles, 15 pass breakups and two interceptions.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Limited Wednesday

Slay (knee) was listed as a limited participant for Philadelphia's walkthrough Wednesday. Slay is still dealing with a knee injury that held him out of the loss to the Jets on Sunday. The 2013 second-round pick did not participate in practice at all last week, so the limited designation is still a step in the right direction for Slay as he looks to play this week versus Miami.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Takes one to the house

Slay collected three tackles (one solo), three passes defended and returned an interception for a touchdown in a 25-20 win over the Patriots on Sunday. Slay was able to get his hands on a tipped pass intended for Kendrick Bourne and take it 70 yards to the end zone to stake the Eagles to a 10-0 lead halfway through the first quarter. It was his first touchdown since the 2021 season. He projects for a busy night Thursday helping to try and contain Justin Jefferson and rookie Jordan Addison when the Eagles host the Vikings.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Sticking in Philadelphia

The Eagles and Slay reached an agreement on a two-year extension Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. In the lead up to the new league year, Slay's representatives were granted permission to pursue a trade for the 10-year pro. By Wednesday, there was an expectation that the Eagles would release Slay, but the two sides decided to talk, and now the cornerback is slated to stay with the franchise through the 2025 campaign. Over the course of three seasons in Philadelphia, Slay has racked up between 50 and 60 tackles each year while compiling seven interceptions and two fumble recoveries in 48 games.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Could be heading elsewhere?

Darius Slay's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has been granted permission by the Eagles to seek a trade for the five-time Pro-Bowler, Dianna Russini of ESPN reports. Slay is currently heading into the final year of his three-year, $50 million contract, and the hope for Philadelphia is that he'll remain with the team for at least one more campaign. The 32-year-old cornerback was certainly one of the top players at his position during last season's Super Bowl run with the Eagles, as he played in all 20 games and registered 67 tackles, 15 passes defensed and three interceptions in that span. Slay is in line to make a base salary of $17 million in 2023 with a cap hit of over $26 million, per Tim McManus of ESPN. Both parties have mutual interests when it comes to the veteran remaining with the team, but it's ultimately going to come down to whether or not they can agree on an extension.

Slay (back) was a full participant during Thursday's practice. • Eagles' Darius Slay: Dealing with back issue

Slay (back) didn't practice Wednesday. Slay was limited to just 80 percent of the team's defensive snaps for a second straight game in Week 3, but it's unclear if his reduced playing time was due to his current back issue. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but he'll have two more opportunities to practice before the team has to make a decision on his status for Week 4.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Enters concussion protocol

Slay was placed in concussion protocol after Sunday's 40-29 win over the Saints, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports. Slay returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown -- his second defensive touchdown in as many weeks -- before exiting the game with the head injury. Slay had five tackles (three solo) and one fumble recovery, which he returned for an 82-yard touchdown, during Sunday's win over the Broncos. The veteran cornerback isn't normally a likely candidate for big IDP performances, but it wasn't his first such game of 2021. The 30-year-old also scored against Detroit in Week 8, bringing him to a career-high mark of two touchdowns on the season.

Slay (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice session. Although Slay had his reps capped Thursday, it was encouraging to see him back on the field after he was a non-participant Wednesday. If he can practice in some capacity once again Friday, he should have a good chance at suiting up Sunday against the Broncos.

Slay's contract was restructured Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. • Eagles' Darius Slay: Trending in right direction

Slay (concussion) was a limited participant during Thursday's practice. Slay suffered the concussion in last week's game against the Saints, and despite being upgraded from DNP Wednesday to limited Thursday, it appears the veteran still resides in concussion protocol. Slay will likely need to practice again this week and also gain clearance from the league's concussion protocol to suit up in Sunday's game against Arizona. If Slay is forced to miss Week 15, Nickell Robey-Coleman would likely be in line to draw the start at cornerback.

  • Eagles' Darius Slay: Limps off field Sunday

Slay (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Packers. Slay limped to the locker room shortly after officially being ruled questionable to return, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports, so his chances of returning in the fourth quarter may not be too high. As long as Slay is out, Philadelphia's secondary stands to have even more difficulty containing Davante Adams.
