McDavid had a goal and four shots in Sunday's 5-2 Game 6 loss to the Golden Knights, which eliminated the Oilers from the Stanley Cup playoffs.
After a historic regular season, McDavid was unsurprisingly one of the biggest stars of the postseason. He was held without a point in just two games while posting eight goals and 20 points in the other 10 games. McDavid was as good as advertised, but the potential MVP will have to try again next year.

Oilers' Connor McDavid: Scores twice in loss to Vegas
McDavid provided two goals in Edmonton's 4-3 loss to Vegas in Game 5 on Friday.
This was the latest in a long line of elite performances from McDavid, who has seven goals and 19 points in 11 playoff outings this year. The power play has been instrumental in McDavid's offensive success during the postseason, and that trend continued Friday with both of his markers coming with the man advantage, bringing his total power-play points in the playoffs to 12. Edmonton is down 3-2 in the series, but McDavid has done his best to push Edmonton forward, supplying four goals and nine points through five second-round outings.

McDavid recorded two assists and four shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4.
McDavid set up Evan Bouchard for a power-play goal in the first period and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for an even-strength tally in the second. This was a good bounce-back for McDavid after he was held off the scoresheet in Game 3 on Monday. The center is up to five tallies, 12 helpers, 10 power-play points, 41 shots on net, 25 hits and a minus-1 rating through 10 playoff contests.

McDavid opened the scoring just 1:25 into the game, and he also set up Leon Draisaitl's power-play goal in the second period. Over six first-round games, McDavid had three goals, seven helpers, 27 shots, 14 hits and a minus-1 rating. The 26-year-old will turn his focus to solving Laurent Brossoit and the Golden Knights in the second round.

One of his assists came on the power play. McDavid is starting to make his impact felt more as the series goes on -- he has five assists over his last two games, and he's up to eight points (five on the power play) through five contests against the Kings. He's added 24 shots on net, 14 hits and a minus-2 rating while playing in his usual massive role.

McDavid is on a three-game point streak, providing two goals and six points in that span. The Kings had some initial success against McDavid, but he's only gotten better as the series has progressed. While his first three points of the 2023 playoffs were all recorded on the power play, McDavid had two even-strength assists Sunday. His third helper of the night set up Evander Kane's game-tying goal late in the third period.

McDavid scored two power-play goals in Edmonton's 3-2 overtime loss to LA in Game 3 on Friday.
The Kings were able to hold McDavid to just an assist over the first two contests of the 2023 playoffs, but the star forward can only be contained for so long. He was amazing during the regular season, providing 64 goals and 153 points in 82 outings, and should continue to find success in the playoffs. McDavid's efforts Friday couldn't save the Oilers though, so Edmonton is now trailing 2-1 in the first-round series, and will consequently be in a high-pressure situation in Game 4 on Sunday.

McDavid ended the regular season on a 16-game point streak, but it was promptly snapped in Game 1 on Monday. The 64-goal scorer has now gone four contests without a tally, matching his longest drought of the season. While the Kings are keeping McDavid in check so far, Leon Draisaitl has five points through two games. It's tough to see McDavid staying quiet throughout the series -- he'll look to get back to his high-scoring ways in Friday's Game 3.

McDavid notched a power-play assist and seven shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Avalanche.
McDavid again left his point streak on the line late. He set up Evan Bouchard's game-winning tally in overtime to keep the heater going at 15 games. During the streak, McDavid has 10 goals, 18 helpers and a plus-13 rating. It's his third streak of at least 15 contests this season, which has helped fuel his outstanding campaign. The superstar is up to 152 points (70 on the power play), 347 shots on net, 89 hits and a plus-22 rating through 81 contests. If he plays Thursday versus the Sharks -- which is likely since the Oilers have a chance to win the Pacific Division -- it would be the fourth time in eight campaigns he's played every game in a season.
