Red Wings' James Reimer: Falls to Sens in OT
Reimer turned aside 29 shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Senators.
It was a wild affair in Stockholm, as Ottawa took a 4-0 lead early in the second period only to see Detroit storm back and tie it before the second intermission. Reimer made a number of big stops to help keep the comeback alive, but he'd probably like another crack at the OT winner -- with just two seconds left, Tim Stutzle took a two-handed swing at a puck in midair that the netminder had lost sight of, and it fluttered over Reimer's head as he reflexively ducked. It's the first time this season the 35-year-old has given up more than three goals in a game, but despite his sharp 2.30 GAA and .917 save percentage, he only sports a 2-2-2 record. With Ville Husso remaining back in North America for the birth of his child, it'll likely be Alex Lyon in the crease for the Red Wings on Friday against the Maple Leafs.

Red Wings' James Reimer: Starting Thursday
Reimer will be in goal for Thursday's NHL Global Series game versus the Senators, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.
With Ville Husso (personal) not on the trip due to the birth of his child, Reimer will get the nod in the Red Wings' first game overseas. Head coach Derek Lalonde did not rule out Reimer playing both contests -- the Red Wings also face the Maple Leafs on Friday, but Alex Lyon could get that start. Reimer has allowed seven goals on 81 shots over his last three games, going 0-2-1 in that span.

Red Wings' James Reimer: Falls to Habs in OT
Reimer stopped 23 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens.
It was a frustrating night for the veteran netminder as two of Montreal's tallies, including Cole Caufield's OT winner, came on the power play while Reimer was screened. Reimer still has yet to allow more than three goals in a game this season, and through five starts he sports a 1.80 GAA and .933 save percentage to go with a 2-2-1 record. Ville Husso (3.57 GAA, .890 save percentage) continues to get more work in the Detroit crease, but that may not be the case much longer if Reimer keeps outperforming him.

Red Wings' James Reimer: Slated to face Canadiens
Reimer will defend the home crease Thursday versus Montreal.
Reimer has done well this season, posting a 2-2-0 record, 1.52 GAA and .944 save percentage in four contests. He stopped 25 of 26 shots but suffered a 2-0 loss to Florida in his start last Thursday. Montreal is tied for 19th with 2.92 goals per game this year.

Red Wings' James Reimer: Tough loss to Panthers
Reimer stopped 25 of 26 shots in Thursday's 2-0 loss to the Panthers.
Florida's final goal was scored into an empty net. Reimer made a number of big saves to keep the Red Wings in the game, but he would really like another crack at the one shot that beat him -- Steven Lorentz floated a shot toward the net late in the second period that the goalie couldn't squeeze with his trapper, and the puck then bounced off the crossbar and Reimer's back and skate before sliding across the goal line. The veteran netminder has yet to allow more than three goals in a start this season, and his 1.52 GAA and .944 save percentage through four outings is making a strong case for more playing time.

Red Wings' James Reimer: Solid in Sunday's win
Reimer stopped 29 of 31 shots in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Flames.
Reimer was steady in his second outing of the year, though it didn't earn him another shutout. The Red Wings supplied plenty of goals to support him, including a hat trick from Alex DeBrincat. Reimer has allowed two goals on 54 shots over his two outings this season, both wins. Ville Husso remains the starter for now, but Reimer's stronger performance could help him pull closer to a 50-50 split, especially with Alex Lyon awaiting his first action in 2023-24.

Red Wings' James Reimer: Blanks Blue Jackets in Wings debut
Reimer made 23 saves in Monday's 4-0 win over Columbus.

The 35-year-old veteran posted a 12-21-8 record with an .890 save percentage last season with San Jose. Reimer was slated to open the year as the Red Wings' backup, though Ville Husso has struggled a bit early in the season, allowing seven goals in his first two games, potentially opening the door for Reimer to take on a larger role.

Red Wings' James Reimer: Tending twine Monday
Reimer will defend the road net Monday versus Columbus, according to Red Wings radio announcer Ken Kal.
Reimer, who will make his Detroit debut in the contest, posted a 12-21-8 record with a 3.48 GAA and an .890 save percentage in 43 games for San Jose last season. Detroit currently has a crowded crease situation with three goaltenders on the roster, so there could be plenty of competition for playing time in the early going. Ville Husso started the first two contests this campaign, and Alex Lyon is still waiting for a chance to see game action.

Reimer secured a one-year, $1.5 million contract with Detroit on Saturday, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.
Reimer will almost certainly enter training camp as the presumptive No. 2 behind Ville Husso but should be capable of pushing the youngster for the starting job. With San Jose last season, the 35-year-old Reimer went 12-21-8 with a career-worst 3.48 GAA in 43 outings.

Sharks' James Reimer: In goal Thursday
Reimer will start Thursday's road game in Edmonton, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Reimer will get the second half of a back-to-back after Kaapo Kahkonen took the loss in Calgary on Wednesday. Reimer has already taken a career-high 20 losses, and facing off with one of the league's top offenses Thursday could make it tough for him to end the campaign on a positive note.
