Player Outlook
Lazard followed quarterback Aaron Rodgers from the Packers to the Jets, but will Rodgers even notice?! Lazard caught 60% of his career-high 100 targets last year, but in two very different halves. From Weeks 2 through 9, Lazard averaged 7.3 targets and 14.7 PPR points per game. Then Christian Watson became a thing and Lazard got the cold shoulder to the tune of 6.1 targets and 9.0 PPR points per game in his final eight. Will Rodgers feed his familiar big man, or will he latch on to second-year dynamo Garrett Wilson and leave Lazard languishing? There shouldn't be much excitement for Lazard in your leagues, which is why targeting him in Round 11 or 12 allows you to settle for low -- and beatable -- expectations.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Set to be active Week 13

Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that Lazard will suit up for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. Lazard was a heathy inactive for the Jets' Week 12 loss to the Dolphins, a likely result of the veteran wide receiver having struggled with drops and ill-timed penalties in his first season with the Jets. Prior to the benching, Lazard had a consistent starting role on the outside opposite Garrett Wilson, but it's possible that the 4-7 Jets will look to work rookie Jason Brownlee in more at Lazard's expense. Brownlee played all but one of the Jets' offensive snaps against Miami with Lazard inactive.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Will play again soon, per coach

After Friday's 34-13 loss to the Dolphins, coach Robert Saleh said Lazard (coach's decision) was benched for the game as "kind of a challenge to see if he can recapture the edge and who he is and the person that we have a lot of faith in" before adding that Lazard "will be back sooner rather than later," Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Lazard has struggled since signing a four-year, $44 million contract with the Jets prior to the 2023 season. He had just 20 catches for 290 yards and one touchdown through 10 games before being left inactive for Friday's loss, though New York once again got minimal contributions from wide receivers other than Garrett Wilson. The first two years of Lazard's contract include $22 million in guaranteed money, but the Jets can cut him after that with minimal salary cap ramifications. The veteran wide receiver is healthy and could be reinserted into the game-day lineup as soon as Week 13 against the Falcons.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Could be inactive Friday

Lazard is expected to be inactive Friday against the Dolphins, according to Connor Hughes of SNY.tv. We'll await confirmation of Lazard's status, which will arrive when inactives are posted ahead of the Jets' 3 p.m. ET kickoff, but if the wideout is sidelined, Xavier Gipson, Jason Brownlee, Irvin Charles and Randall Cobb would be candidates to log Week 12 snaps behind top WR option Garrett Wilson.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Drops lone Week 11 target

Lazard failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 32-6 loss to the Bills. Lazard couldn't corral a ball that hit him in the hands as his struggles with drops continued. With Garrett Wilson playing through an elbow injury, Lazard had an opportunity to step up, but it's hard to blame the team's quarterbacks for looking elsewhere with the veteran wideout struggling to catch the ball. Regardless of whether Zach Wilson or Tim Boyle starts under center for the Jets in Week 12, Lazard will have limited fantasy appeal against the Dolphins.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Disappearing act continues

Lazard caught one of five targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 16-12 loss to the Raiders. Lazard was the intended target on Zach Wilson's red-zone interception with 1:22 left in the fourth quarter. The 27-year-old wide receiver has been held to fewer than 20 yards in three of the last four games. In Week 11, Lazard will face a Bills defense against which he had 46 receiving yards back in Week 11 -- his second-highest total of the season.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Still limited Thursday

Lazard (knee) remained a limited participant at practice Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Lazard continues to manage a knee issue that he played through in Monday's loss to the Chargers, and he'll presumably need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid carrying an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders. While operating as the Jets' No. 2 wide receiver, Lazard -- who has yet to top three catches in a game this season -- has compiled a 19-273-1 receiving line on 35 targets through eight contests.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Deemed limited Wednesday

Lazard (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Lazard approached Monday's loss to the Chargers listed as questionable with a knee injury, but was able to suit up and played 72 of a possible 81 snaps on offense en route to catching two of his six targets for 18 yards. With no reported setbacks coming out of the game, Lazard's listed limitations Wednesday may have been indicative of load management ahead of this weekend's game against the Raiders.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: More drops and penalties Monday

Lazard (knee) caught two of six targets for 18 yards in Monday's 27-6 loss to the Chargers. Penalties and drops have both been all too common for Lazard in 2023, and they remained bugaboos for him Monday. Lazard was whistled for an illegal shift and a hold to wipe out Breece Hall runs of 14 and six yards, in addition to having a pass clank off his hands. New York has few alternatives to turn to opposite Garrett Wilson at wide receiver, so Lazard should continue to see significant action Week 10 against the Raiders and beyond, but the former Packer certainly isn't living up to the four-year, $44 million contract he signed in March.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Suits up Monday night

Lazard (knee) is listed as active for Monday night's game against the Chargers. Lazard was added to the Jets' final Week 9 injury report as questionable for Monday night's contest due to a knee issue that limited him at practice Saturday. Now that his availability versus Los Angeles has been confirmed, Lazard is slated to continue to work as the Jets' No. 2 WR in the team's Zach Wilson-helmed offense behind Garrett Wilson, a role that has resulted in the 27-year-old recording a 17-255-1 line on 29 targets through seven games. In his last outing, Lazard caught three of his season-high six targets for 45 yards in the Jets' overtime win over the Giants in Week 8.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Trending toward playing Monday

Lazard (knee) remains listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Chargers but is expected to play, barring a surprise, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Lazard didn't appear on either of the Jets' first two Week 9 injury reports before being added to the report Saturday, when the knee issue resulted in him being limited in practice. Based on Fowler's report, Lazard may have been given the questionable tag as a matter of precaution, and the veteran wideout should be ready to handle his usual duties as the Jets' No. 2 receiver if he comes out of pregame warmups no worse for the wear. Lazard's status will be clarified when the Jets release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes prior to Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Added to injury report, questionable

Lazard (knee) is listed as questionable for Monday's matchup against the Chargers, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. It's definitely troubling that Lazard was added to the Jets' final injury report Saturday after practicing fully earlier this week, but the team hasn't released any information at the moment that indicates the veteran's status is truly in jeopardy. Lazard has yet to tally more than three receptions in a single game this season, but he's been a reliable chain mover for quarterback Zach Wilson and would leave the team woefully young at wideout behind Garrett Wilson and Randall Cobb. Expect more information to surface regarding Lazard's status prior to Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Big late catch sets up tying FG

Lazard caught three of six targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 13-10 overtime win over the Giants. Lazard made a pivotal 29-yard catch on the third-to-last play of the fourth quarter, as the Jets had just enough time to run up the field and spike the ball with one second left to set up Greg Zuerlein's game-tying, 35-yard field goal. It was Lazard's second-longest catch of the season and helped him top 40 yards for the third time through seven games with the Jets.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Makes three catches in loss

Lazard caught three of five targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Patriots. Lazard finished nine receiving yards shy of Garrett Wilson's team-best total while tying Tyler Conklin for second behind Wilson in both targets and catches. Despite being locked in as the Jets' No. 2 wide receiver, Lazard has failed to reach 50 yards in a game heading into a Week 4 home game against the Chiefs.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Catches two passes in Week 2

Lazard caught two of four targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Cowboys. Lazard finished third on the team in both targets and receiving yards behind Garrett Wilson (undisclosed) and tight end Tyler Conklin. Wilson provided most of New York's offense with a 68-yard touchdown catch and is expected to be available in Week 3 against the Patriots after having the wind knocked out of him late in the game. While Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) has a history of keeping numerous receivers fantasy-relevant simultaneously, the same can't be said of Zach Wilson, so Lazard's role as a starter on the outside won't necessarily earn him significant target volume or fantasy production.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Two catches after Rodgers injury

Lazard caught two of four targets for 46 yards in Monday's 22-16 overtime win over the Bills. Lazard's decision to join the Jets in the offseason was undoubtedly influenced by the then-impending arrival of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but the former Packers teammates played just four snaps together before Rodgers suffered what is feared to be a season-ending Achilles injury. Lazard went on to lead the team in receiving yards as backup Zach Wilson threw for 140 yards in a win fueled by the defense's four forced Josh Allen turnovers. Lazard is locked into a starting role on the outside heading into a Week 2 trip to Dallas, but that prominent usage is much less exciting with Wilson throwing the ball rather than Rodgers.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Avoids Week 1 injury report

Lazard (shoulder) wasn't listed Thursday on the Jets' first Week 1 injury report, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Lazard thus looks to be in the clear to serve as one of the Jets' starting receivers in Monday's season opener versus Buffalo. Though Lazard will be making his Jets debut in Week 1, he should be in store for a fairly seamless transition. In addition to making the jump from Green Bay to New York with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Lazard will be reunited with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who directed the Packers offense from 2019 through 2021. Second-year wideout Garrett Wilson will represent the Jets' No. 1 option in the passing game, but Lazard's skills as a blocker and familiarity with Rodgers should ensure him a near-every down role on offense.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Set to practice Tuesday

Lazard (shoulder) will practice Tuesday, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports. Lazard had been dealing with an AC joint injury in his shoulder, but the wideout's return to the practice field Tuesday has him in line to be available come Week 1. As the coming season approaches, Lazard is projected to be a key cog in a Jets receiving corps that will be led by Garrett Wilson and which also includes Mecole Hardman and Randall Cobb.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Diagnosed with AC joint injury

Lazard will miss practice Thursday with an AC joint injury in his shoulder, but he's expected to be fine for Week 1, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. The report notes that Lazard's status for a preseason game against the Giants on Saturday is unclear following his injury during Thursday's practice. It'll be surprising if he ends up playing given the low stakes, especially after Corey Davis' recent, surprise retirement took a chunk out of the Jets' WR depth. Lazard and Garrett Wilson are the top two, with Mecole Hardman and Randall Cobb perhaps competing for the third spot and a hoard of undrafted players fighting for one or two depth roles behind them.

  • Jets' Allen Lazard: Early practice exit

Lazard departed Wednesday's practice early with an undisclosed injury, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. According to Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports, Lazard made a standout play in practice with a 30-yard touchdown reception over cornerback Sauce Gardner, but he appears to have picked up an injury near the end of the session. Head coach Robert Saleh's press conference Thursday should bring an update on Lazard's health, if the Jets don't offer one before then. With Corey Davis having announced his retirement Wednesday, Lazard will likely be assured a key role on offense, assuming he's healthy for Week 1.
