Taylor will again be the No. 2 quarterback for the Giants this season behind Daniel Jones, and he has minimal Fantasy value in that role. He's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues. In 2022, Taylor was limited to just 31 snaps over three games. If Jones were to miss any time then Taylor should be added off the waiver wire, mostly for Superflex and two-quarterback leagues.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Logs full practice Thursday

Taylor (ribs) was listed as a full participant on Thursday's estimated injury report, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. The Giants designated Taylor for return from injured reserve Monday, but even with a Week 13 bye in the rearview mirror, the team didn't hold practice Thursday. Still, he wouldn't have had any restrictions if it had done so, meaning he seems poised to serve as Tommy DeVito's backup Monday against the Packers, assuming Taylor is activated ahead of that contest. If not, though, Taylor would yield the No. 2 job to practice-squad member Matt Barkley.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Designated for return

The Giants announced Monday that Taylor (ribs) has been designated to return from IR. Taylor enters the mix to potentially start versus the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. Undrafted rookie Tommy Devito is riding a two-game winning streak however, so a quarterback change may be unlikely for New York. Taylor did perform adequately when healthy earlier this season, so it wouldn't be out of the question for him to get another crack at the starting job this season. The veteran QB hasn't played since Week 8 due to an injury to his rib cage.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Returning to practice this week

The Giants are expected to designate Taylor (ribs) for a return from IR and open his practice window this week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Taylor's 21-day practice window will open as soon as he's officially designated to return from IR, meaning he could be an option to start versus the Dolphins on Monday Night Football in Week 14. Undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito has led New York to a two-game win streak, however, so Taylor could end up working in a backup capacity once back in the lineup.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Expects to return this season

Taylor said Thursday that his rib injury is "not season-ending in my mind," Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. Earlier this week, Giants head coach Brian Daboll was non-committal about Taylor playing again this season, but the quarterback stated Thursday that nobody in the organization has indicated that his campaign could be over. Taylor is on IR and isn't eligible to play until Week 14 versus Green Bay, and there could be little motivation for New York to expedite his return in what is looking like a lost season, as the club currently sits in last place in the NFC East at 2-7. Daniel Jones tore his ACL this past Sunday versus the Raiders and is out for the remainder of the campaign, so undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito is set to take the helm behind center for the foreseeable future.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Return uncertain this season

Giants head coach Brian Daboll was non-committal Monday when asked if Taylor (rib cage) will return from injured reserve this season, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports. After being placed on IR prior to Sunday's 30-6 loss to the Raiders, Taylor will have to miss at least the Giants' next three games, with his first opportunity to play again arriving after the team's Week 13 bye. Daboll's unwillingness to speak on Taylor's availability for the rest of the season would seemingly suggest that, at the very least, the Giants aren't counting on the veteran signal-caller being ready to play when first eligible Week 14 against the Packers on Monday, Dec. 11. Taylor had served as the Giants' starting quarterback from Weeks 6 through 8 while Daniel Jones was sidelined with a neck injury, completing 46 of 72 pass attempts for 487 yards and two touchdowns while adding 82 yards on 18 carries before suffering an injury to his rib cage in the second quarter of an overtime loss to the Jets on Oct. 29. With Jones suffering a season-ending ACL tear in his return to the lineup against Las Vegas, a healthy Taylor would have been positioned for another extended run as the Giants' starting quarterback, but the team will be forced to turn to undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito and veteran journeyman Matt Barkley as its signal-callers heading into a Week 10 game in Dallas.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Shifts to injured reserve

Taylor (ribs) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports. Taylor's absence perfectly coincides with the return of Daniel Jones (neck) from his multi-game absence. Tommy DeVito appears to be the team's backup at the moment with the journeyman Taylor sidelined until at least Dec. 11, but it's possible the Giants add an additional backup given DeVito's lack of experience.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Won't be available Week 9

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday that Taylor (ribs) won't be available for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. With Taylor out this week, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports that Tommy DeVito is likely to serve as the Giants' No. 2 quarterback Sunday. Meanwhile, Matt Citak of the team's official site previously noted that top signal-caller Daniel Jones (neck) returned to a full practice Wednesday, which seemingly puts Jones on track to return from a three-game absence to start Sunday's contest.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Misses first Week 9 practice

Taylor (rib cage) won't practice Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Taylor was discharged from the hospital Monday after injuring his rib cage in the second quarter of this past Sunday's 13-10 overtime loss to the Jets. Tommy DeVito replaced Taylor and completed just two passes over the rest of the game. Taylor's absence Wednesday is no surprise, and he's unlikely to heal in time to face the Raiders this coming Sunday. Fortunately for the the Giants, top quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) has been cleared for contact and will be a full participant in Wednesday's practice, likely setting the stage for him to make his first appearance since Week 5 after Taylor had started each of the previous three games.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Leaves hospital Monday

Taylor (rib cage) was discharged from the hospital Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Taylor was forced out of Sunday's overtime loss to the Jets in the second quarter and taken to the hospital, where he stayed overnight as he underwent further examination. The precautionary measure allowed him to leave one day later, but he now is considered week-to-week, per Schefter. With news that Daniel Jones (neck) was cleared for contact Sunday prior to Taylor's injury, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, the Giants may not have as dire of a situation at quarterback as they prepare for a Week 9 road matchup with the Raiders.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Getting another start

Taylor will start Sunday's game against the Jets after Daniel Jones (neck) was ruled out, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports. Taylor will make his third straight start, after nearly upsetting the Bills in Week 6 and then leading the Giants to a 14-7 win over the Commanders in Week 7. The Giants are still expected to return Jones to the starting role once he's medically cleared, though head coach Brian Daboll was non-committal Friday when asked if Jones will be available to play again this season, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic. With that in mind, Taylor could have more starts in his future, even if Daboll wasn't ready to confirm anything beyond this Sunday.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Week 8 Waiver Priority List

We'll see when Daniel Jones (neck) is able to return for the Giants, but the team should take their time to make sure he's 100 percent healthy. In the interim, Taylor has done well in helping the Giants nearly pull off an upset in Week 6 at Buffalo and then defeat Washington in Week 7. Against the Commanders, Taylor had 25.7 Fantasy points, and he should be added in all Superflex and two-quarterback leagues for at least 10 percent of your FAB heading into Week 8 against the Jets. I also don't mind him as a low-end starter in deep one-quarterback leagues, and you can add him there if needed for 1 percent. And, if you want to speculate on Jones (36 percent rostered) coming back, he's worth adding in deeper one-quarterback leagues for 1 percent of your FAB. If the Giants offensive line can ever get healthy then Jones still has the potential to be a decent Fantasy quarterback to close out the year.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Two TD tosses in Week 7 win

Taylor completed 18 of 29 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns while adding 25 rushing yards on eight carries in Sunday's 14-7 win over the Commanders. Both touchdowns came in the second quarter, as Taylor hit Darren Waller for a 15-yard TD to open the scoring before Saquon Barkley took a little flip 32 yards to the end zone. Taylor's looked poised in his two starts while Daniel Jones (neck) has been sidelined, and he did snap the team's four-game losing streak Sunday, but the Giants have still produced only 23 total points in those two contests. If Jones is able to return for a Week 8 clash with the Jets, there likely won't be any QB controversy.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: In store for another start

Taylor is on track to make a second straight start Sunday against the Commanders, with Daniel Jones (neck) listed as questionable but not expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. After sitting out last week's loss to the Bills, Jones made positive strides in his recovery from the neck injury this week. Jones was listed as a limited participant in practices Wednesday through Friday, but because he has yet to be cleared to take contact as of Saturday, the Giants are likely to play it safe with their franchise signal-caller and hold him out for another week. Head coach Brian Daboll will entrust the 34-year-old Taylor to direct the offense in what will likely be a conservative game plan, though the veteran quarterback was able to do his part to keep the Giants competitive last week in a 14-9 loss to the heavily favored Bills. He completed 24 of his 36 pass attempts for 200 yards and added 24 yards on the ground while committing no turnovers as the Giants controlled time of possession.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Comes up short in spot start

Taylor completed 24 of 36 pass attempts for 200 yards with no touchdowns or turnovers while adding 24 rushing yards on five attempts in Sunday's 14-9 loss to the Bills. Taylor stepped in for injured starter Daniel Jones (neck), finishing with a rather poor fantasy line in the narrow loss. The veteran quarterback also made an uncharacteristic mental blunder with the ball on the Bills' goal line with seconds left in the first half, audibling to a Saquon Barkley rushing attempt that was stuffed for no gain. The Giants did not have any timeouts left, so the clock expired and the Giants came away with no points -- something which played heavily into the team's decision-making on their final drive of the fourth quarter, when they needed a touchdown to win and not a field goal. Jones' status for Week 7's matchup against Washington is still up in the air, and the 34-year-old Taylor might offer a little more fantasy upside in a more favorable matchup if he were to get the start.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Getting first start of season

Taylor will start Sunday's game against the Bills in place of Daniel Jones (neck), Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports. Jones didn't practice this week and was ruled out Friday, suggesting he could be in danger of additional absences beyond Sunday night. Taylor has completed 11 of 15 passes for 92 yards in mop-up duty this year, after attempting eight passes last season in his first year with the Giants. The 34-year-old last made starts for Houston in 2021, putting up a 2-4 record and 19-151-3 rushing line while completing 91 of 150 passes (60.7 percent) for 966 yards (6.4 YPA), five TDs and five interceptions. He's probably lost another step since then, and he'll line up Sunday night behind an offensive line that's missing at least two starters and a swing tackle (and possibly more than that).

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Trending toward Week 6 start

Taylor took practice reps with the first-team offense Thursday for the second day in a row and appears to be trending toward the starting nod for Sunday's game against the Bills in place of the injured Daniel Jones (neck), Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports. While the neck injury that Jones sustained late in the Giants' Week 5 loss to the Dolphins isn't considered as significant as the one that kept the signal-caller out for the final six games of the 2021 season, he still appears likely to miss time. Head coach Brian Daboll hasn't yet ruled Jones out from playing Sunday, but in order to be a realistic option to play this weekend, the 26-year-old will likely need to practice Friday in at least a limited fashion after sitting out sessions Wednesday and Thursday. A veteran of 85 appearances and 53 starts over his 13-year NFL career, Taylor represents an experienced fill-in option, though he probably won't make for a viable fantasy option outside of leagues that start two quarterbacks or have a QB flex spot. In addition to working behind a banged-up offensive line, Taylor could be without a couple of key skill-position players, as running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) and tight end Darren Waller (groin) are both nursing injuries at this stage of the week.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Gets mop-up work

Taylor completed both of his pass attempts for six yards in Sunday's blowout loss to the Cowboys. The contest was out of reach for New York at 40-0 amidst pouring rain by the middle of the fourth quarter, so it's somewhat surprising that Daniel Jones was left in the game until there was just over a minute left on the clock. Taylor entered and completed a couple dump-off passes to backup tailback Gary Brightwell that netted six yards before the timer mercifully ran down on a disastrous season-opener for the Giants. The organization made a huge commitment to Jones -- who completed just 15 of 28 pass attempts for 104 yards and two interceptions Sunday -- with a four-year deal in the offseason, so Taylor isn't likely to play more than a backup role even if the incumbent QB gets off to a slow start.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Solid again in exhibition action

Taylor completed nine of 13 pass attempts for 90 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions in Friday's preseason win over the Panthers. He added 21 rushing yards on three carries. Taylor saw more action than in the Giants' first exhibition contest, when he attempted just four passes. The highlight of the veteran QB's night came when he hit rookie wideout Jalin Hyatt for a 33-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Taylor is locked in as New York's backup signal caller behind Daniel Jones for the coming campaign.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Plays briefly in preseason opener

Taylor completed three of four pass attempts for seven yards in Friday's exhibition loss to Detroit. He added two rushes for seven yards. Taylor started the contest for New York and played on two drives before giving way to Tommy DeVito, who took the remainder of the snaps behind center. Taylor's biggest play was a 13-yard completion to Isaiah Hodgins that helped set up a Graham Gano field goal. The veteran quarterback is expected to back up starter Daniel Jones for the second straight season.

  • Giants' Tyrod Taylor: Ruled out for Week 5

Taylor (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Green Bay, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Taylor remains in the league's concussion protocol and will be forced to miss at least one game after he sustained his injury in last week's win over the Bears. However, Daniel Jones (ankle) should be available to start under center, while Davis Webb likely will be elevated to the active roster to serve as the backup quarterback.
