  • Kasimir Kaskisuo: Leaving NHL

Kaskisuo agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Swedish club Leksands IF on Friday, he announced on social media.

After two years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Kaskisuo made the jump to the professional ranks, playing in the ECHL, AHL and NHL over the past five seasons. The Finnish netminder came up through the Jokerit (KHL) youth system but will be playing professionally in Europe for the first time in his career. Barring a fantastic 2021-22 campaign, this could mark the end of Kaskisuo's time in the NHL.

  • Predators' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Reverts to taxi squad

Kaskisuo was assigned to the taxi squad Monday.

Juuse Saros is dealing with an undisclosed injury, and if he's not healthy in time for Tuesday's game versus the Stars, Kaskisuo should be promoted to back up Pekka Rinne again. Kaskisuo played 27 AHL games last season, posting a .909 save percentage and a 2.79 GAA.

  • Predators' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Shifts to taxi squad

Kaskisuo was designated for the taxi squad Wednesday.

Juuse Saros (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Wednesday, so Kaskisuo was sent to the taxi squad. The 27-year-old made a relief appearance March 11, turning aside all three shots that he faced. He'll continue to travel and practice with the big club while on the taxi squad.

  • Predators' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Joins active roster

Kaskisuo was promoted to the active roster Thursday, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.

Juuse Saros (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday. Kaskisuo was promoted to serve as Pekka Rinne's backup until Saros returns to action. The 27-year-old spent most of the 2019-20 season in the minors, recording a .909 save percentage across 27 contests with AHL Toronto.

  • Predators' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Set to join taxi squad

Kaskisuo will join Nashville's taxi squad with fellow goaltender Connor Ingram entering the player assistance program, Adam Vingan of The Athletic reports.

Kaskisuo will be the team's emergency third option while Ingram's unavailable, but he's unlikely to see any game action for the Predators barring an injury to Juuse Saros or Pekka Rinne.

  • Predators' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Waived Saturday

Kaskisuo was waived by the Predators on Saturday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.

The 27-year-old Finnish netminder spent most of last season with AHL Toronto, racking up some fairly mediocre stats (2.79 GAA, .909 save percentage). With the Preds set in goal this season with Juuse Saros and Pekka Rinne, don't expect to see Kaskisuo at the NHL level anytime soon.

  • Kasimir Kaskisuo: Lands two-way deal

Kasimir signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Predators worth $700,000 at the NHL level Tuesday.

Kaskisuo spent nearly the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign with AHL Toronto, compiling a 14-9-2 record while posting a 2.79 GAA and .909 save percentage. He'll slot into the fourth spot on Nashville's organizational depth chart at netminder, so don't expect to see him in the NHL next season.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Shuffles to minors

The Maple Leafs reassigned Kaskisuo to AHL Toronto on Thursday, per CapFriendly.

Kaskisuo was brought up to provide depth because Frederik Andersen (neck) is on the mend, but the Leafs acquired Jack Campbell via trade from the Kings on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Kaskisuo will head back to the minors for now, but there's a chance he's brought back up for Friday's game versus the Ducks if Campbell isn't ready in time.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Back up with parent club

The Maple Leafs recalled Kaskisuo from AHL Toronto on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old will provide the Maple Leafs with some extra depth in goal, at least in the short term after Frederik Andersen exited Monday's loss to the Panthers with an upper-body injury. Expect Kaskisuo to see limited work as the backup to Michael Hutchinson until Andersen is back to full strength.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Ushered to AHL

The Maple Leafs assigned Kaskisuo to AHL Toronto on Monday.

Kaskisuo made his first NHL start and was lit up to the tune of six goals on 38 shots by the Penguins. Since then, he's stayed on the bench, and the Maple Leafs opted to call up Michael Hutchinson to serve as Frederik Andersen's backup. Kaskisuo, 26, will continue to develop his game in the AHL ranks.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Abandoned by mates in debut

Kaskisuo made 32 saves in a 6-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday. It was his NHL debut.

Poor kid. He's been playing well in the AHL, but he lined up behind a shell-shocked Leafs' lineup and they did nothing to help him. Koskisuo is better than the stat line shows, but given how the Leafs use their backup, we can't recommend him.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Making NHL debut Saturday

Kaskisuo will start in Saturday's road game versus the Penguins, Kristen Shilton of TSN.ca reports.

Kaskisuo was called up to the parent club Tuesday after Michael Hutchinson cleared waivers. The Finnish netminder won't have to wait long for his first turn in the crease. Kaskisuo has a 2.13 GAA and a .928 save percentage in eight games for AHL Toronto this year. He'll look to bring some stability to the backup position behind starting netminder Frederik Andersen.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Summoned to The Show

The Maple Leafs recalled Kaskisuo from their AHL affiliate Tuesday.

Toronto waived Michael Hutchinson following a string of poor performances Monday, so Kaskisuo will take over as Frederik Andersen's backup for the foreseeable future. The 26-year-old Finn has played well in the minors this season, maintaining a 2.13 GAA and .928 save percentage through eight appearances.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Drops down to minors

The Maple Leafs assigned Kaskisuo to AHL Toronto on Saturday.

This could be a sign that Frederik Andersen (illness) will return for Monday's game versus the Avalanche, especially since AHL Toronto doesn't have a game until Jan. 19. Kaskisuo still hasn't appeared in a game for the Maple Leafs this season since Michael Hutchinson has been coach Mike Babcock's first option during Andersen's injuries.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Recalled again

Kaskisuo was called up from AHL Toronto under emergency conditions Saturday.

Frederik Andersen reportedly had a chance to return from a groin injury Saturday against the Bruins, but now he's bogged down by the flu, so Kaskisuo once again heads back to the top level. The Finn hasn't appeared in an NHL game since 2015-16, therefore it would be rather brazen of Leafs coach Mike Babcock to play Kaskisuo over Michael Hutchinson while Andersen is out. For what it's worth, we expect Hutchinson to work between the pipes against the B's, but we'll circle back if that changes.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Reassigned to minors

Kaskisuo was reassigned to AHL Toronto on Friday.

Kaskisuo has been at the end of the organization's yo-yo string, moving to the NHL and back on several occasions, though he has yet to make his debut at the top level. At this juncture, his status depends solely on the health of Frederik Andersen (groin), who is holding out hope that he'll be able to return Saturday.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Called back up

Kaskisuo, as expected, was recalled from AHL Toronto on Thursday.

Kaskisuo will fill in as the backup behind Michael Hutchinson versus New Jersey on Thursday while Garret Sparks (concussion) and Frederik Andersen (groin) remain sidelined. In order to preserve cap space, Kaskisuo will almost certainly be headed back down to the minors following Thursday's tilt. If Andersen is healthy enough to serve as the No. 2 against Boston on Saturday, this could mark the last of Kaskisuo's time in the NHL this season.

  • Maple Leafs' Kasimir Kaskisuo: Headed to minors

Kaskisuo was sent down to AHL Toronto on Tuesday.

Due to cap constraints, the Leafs can't simply keep Kaskisuo in the NHL, which means his demotion isn't an indication as to whether Frederik Andersen (groin) or Garret Sparks (concussion) will be available versus the Devils on Thursday. If neither guy can give it a go, Kaskisuo will be brought in to backup Michael Hutchinson.
