Thompson (upper body) will not play Monday against Montreal, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports. Thompson has been dealing with a minor injury and was considered a game-time call Monday. Despite playing through the injury Saturday against the Islanders, he'll now miss his first game of the year. The 25-year-old has 44 goals and 89 points through 72 games this season but just two over his last six outings. Lukas Rousek will make his NHL debut in Thompson's absence.... See More ... See Less

Sabres' Tage Thompson: Game-time call Monday
Thompson is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will be a game-time decision Monday against Montreal, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. Thompson was also a game-time call for Saturday's matchup with the Islanders before he logged 17:03 of ice time in the contest during Buffalo's 2-0 victory. If Thompson can't play versus the Canadiens, Casey Mittelstadt is projected to center the top line.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Tage Thompson: Starting Saturday
Thompson (undisclosed) will be in the Sabres' lineup Saturday versus the Islanders, according to Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550. Thompson was a game-time decision and the Sabres went until the last minute before deciding that he was well enough to play. Thompson was injured Friday night versus New Jersey. He has a two-game goal scoring streak on the line. Thompson has 44 goals and 89 points in 71 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Tage Thompson: Questionable Saturday
Thompson (undisclosed) is considered questionable for Saturday's game against the Islanders, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. Thompson scored a goal on four shots in 13:14 of ice time in Friday's win over the Devils. He left the game but was able to return, though it seems like the injury is lingering. The 25-year-old is up to 44 goals and 89 points through 71 games. Thompson will likely be considered a game-time call Saturday unless there's another update before the game.... See More ... Sabres' Tage Thompson: Snaps three-game point drought
Thompson netted a power-play goal in a 7-3 loss to Nashville on Tuesday. Thompson's marker came late in the second period, but Nashville was still left with a 6-2 lead. He has 43 goals and 88 points in 70 contests this season, including 32 power-play points. That's double his total production with the man advantage in 2021-22, which is a big part of the reason Thompson's also up from 68 overall points last season. The 25-year-old efforts Tuesday ended a three-game scoring drought.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Tage Thompson: Grabs assist in win
Thompson logged an assist and seven shots in Monday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs. Thompson set up Alex Tuch with an impressive backhanded feed to tie the game 2-2 in the third period. Thompson has scored just once in his last seven games, though he's logged four assists over his last three contests. He should see a boost in production with Tuch's return to Buffalo's top line. The 25-year-old Thompson is up to 42 goals and 87 points, both career highs, through 66 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Tage Thompson: Two helpers in Thursday's loss
Thompson collected two assists in Thursday's 10-4 loss to the Stars. Not much went right for Buffalo in this one, but at least Thompson stayed productive. It's the 25-year-old's fourth multi-point performance in the last nine games, a stretch in which he's racked up six goals and 13 points, and on the season Thompson sits fifth in the NHL scoring race with 85 points (42 goals, 43 helpers) through 64 contests.... Sabres' Tage Thompson: Three helpers against Florida
Thompson collected three assists, one on the power play, in Friday's 3-1 win over the Panthers. The Sabres' top line of Thompson, Jeff Skinner and Alex Tuch accounted for all the team's offense on the night, with Thompson posting his second straight three-point effort after he recorded a hat trick against the Lightning on Thursday. The 25-year-old has emerged as a superstar this season and sits one tally shy of his first career 40-goal campaign and two points short of 80 through 57 games, tying Thompson for fifth in scoring in the league with Matthew Tkachuk behind Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Nikita Kucherov and David Pastrnak.... Sabres' Tage Thompson: Nets fourth hattie of season
Thompson scored three goals Thursday in a 6-5 overtime win over the Lightning. It's the fourth time this season that hats have flown for the now 39-goal man. Thompson's first came on a second-period power play. He finished a nice cross-ice pass from Jeff Skinner at the right post. Skinner set him up a few minutes later with a stretch pass and Thompson scored on a breakaway. He completed the hattie early in the third, slipping a backhander five hole on Andrei Vasilevskiy on yet another breakaway. Thompson is on a four-game, six-point scoring streak (four goals, two assists).... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Tage Thompson: Delivers helper in win
Thompson provided an assist and fired five shots on goal in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Thompson battled for and controlled the puck before setting up Jeff Skinner's game-winning tally midway through the third period. February has actually been a little quiet for Thompson -- he has no multi-point efforts and just two goals and one assist through five contests this month. The 25-year-old center is up to 36 tallies, 35 helpers, 212 shots on net and a plus-11 rating through 54 outings overall. Even if he slows down a bit the rest of the way, it's already a career year for one of the league's burgeoning superstars.... See More ... See Less -

Thompson (upper body) will play Saturday per coach Don Granato, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. Thompson left his last game Feb. 1 early due to his injury, but the All-Star break and the CBA mandated five-day break helped out as he will not miss a game. Sabres' Tage Thompson: Exits with upper-body injury
Thompson (upper body) won't return to Wednesday's game against Carolina. Thompson missed Monday's practice because of an upper-body injury and was initially questionable for Wednesday's outing as a result. It's not clear if Thompson left the game because of the same upper-body injury or due to a new issue. He recorded a shot and a minus-1 rating in 11:16 of ice time before exiting the contest. The 25-year-old entered Wednesday's action with 34 goals and 68 points through 49 games. If Thompson is unavailable for any significant period of time, then Dylan Cozens might be asked to play a bigger role.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Tage Thompson: Good to go
Thompson (upper body) will play Wednesday versus Carolina, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports. Thompson missed Monday's practice due to an upper-body issue, but he should slot into his usual featured role skating on the top line and the No. 1 power-play unit against the Hurricanes. The 25-year-old winger has been exceptional this season, having racked up 34 goals, 68 points and 199 shots on net through only 49 games.... See More ... See Less -
