Player Outlook
Mims is a big-play receiver who should help stretch the field for Russell Wilson once he is fully acclimated to the NFL. In rookie-only drafts, he's a borderline first-round pick who could fall to the mid-second in two-quarterback leagues. In redraft, we're not drafting Mims before Round 12, but his stock could rise after likely No. 3 receiver Tim Patrick suffered another season-ending injury in early camp. There's a new regime in Denver and Mims is the only wide receiver they actually chose, and they traded up to get him. You don't have to squint very hard to see how Mims could fit into the Tyler Lockett mold, and that is exactly the type of wide receiver Wilson has thrived with. Mims should get an early showcase with Jerry Jeudy recovering from a hamstring strain that is likely to cost him anywhere from one to three games to start the year.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Targeted twice against Texans

Mims caught one of two targets for five yards and carried the ball once for eight yards in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Texans. After averaging a 57 percent offensive snap share since Denver's Week 9 bye, Mims saw his playing time decrease in Week 13 and played just 31 percent of snaps. As has been the case throughout the 2023 campaign, the rookie's role in the offense is not consistent enough to warrant much consideration for fantasy purposes. Mims will continue to struggle to see meaningful usage when the Broncos face the Chargers in Week 14.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Cleared to play vs. Texans

Mims (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Texans, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Mims avoided the Broncos' final Week 13 injury report by upgrading to full practice participation Friday after a pair of limited sessions. The rookie out of Oklahoma should continue to work as Denver's return man on special teams while filling a depth role at wide receiver. Mims has caught more than two passes in a game only once in his young career while chipping in one receiving touchdown and one kick return touchdown.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Limited by hamstring issue

Mims was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a hamstring injury, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Mims will have two more chances to increase his practice activity this week and clear up any concern about his availability for Sunday's game against the Texans. That said, with Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy (groin) ahead of him in the pecking order at receiver, Mims profiles as a speculative fantasy lineup option for the Week 13 slate.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Handles three touches

Mims caught two of three targets for 24 yards and rushed once for 11 yards in Sunday's 29-12 win over the Browns. Sunday marked Mims' second straight week with two grabs on three targets, but head coach Sean Payton does seem to be making an effort to get the rookie more involved in the offense. Before the Broncos' Week 9 bye, the speedy wideout was averaging just a 29 percent offensive snap share. In three games since the bye, his snap share average has increased to 57 percent. As is the case with many rookie receivers, it's possible that Mims could push for more opportunities as the season progresses. Even so, the 21-year-old won't make for a trustworthy fantasy option in Week 13 against the Texans.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Upgraded to full Thursday

Mims (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports. Coming out of Denver's Week 9 bye, Mims played a season-high 69 percent of the offensive snaps and ran 28 routes against the Bills on Monday but was targeted just once. The Broncos are a run-oriented offense, and Mims is behind Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy (hip/limited Thursday) in the target pecking order.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Targeted once in win

Mims failed to catch his lone target and rushed once for minus-11 yards in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Packers. Mims' frustrating start to the 2023 campaign continued Sunday, as the wideout was held without a catch and lost yards on his one carry in the contest. The rookie played 18 of 59 offensive snaps, the lowest of any Denver wide receiver. The Broncos' coaching staff appears firmly committed to bringing the Oklahoma product along slowly this season despite flashing his playmaking ability with several opportunities. Up next for the Broncos is a rematch with the Chiefs. Mims failed to record a target in their first matchup, and the 21-year-old should continue to be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes as Denver hosts Kansas City in Week 8.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Not targeted in loss

Mims failed to record a single target in Thursday's 19-8 loss to the Chiefs. Mims played just 23 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps Thursday, his lowest snap share of the season. In addition, the rookie wideout was held without a target for the first time in six weeks. Fantasy managers hoping for Mims to become more involved in Denver's scheme have been disappointed as the Broncos' coaching staff has yet to fully integrate him into the offense. On a day when the Broncos could have used a spark through the air, Mims earned the fewest snaps of any of Denver's wide receivers. The 21-year-old's talent is undeniable, and though it's possible that things open up for him in coach Sean Payton's plans later in the season, he remains extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes with his current usage. Nonetheless, Mims will once again hope to take a step forward and be more involved in the team's game plan when the Broncos host the Packers in Week 7.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Minimal involvement in loss

Mims secured his only target for four yards in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Jets. Mims was an afterthought in the Broncos' offense Sunday, earning a season-low one target in the contest. The rookie wideout saw the field for just 33 percent of Denver's offensive snaps, playing behind Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Brandon Johnson. Despite Mims' impressive playmaking ability, the Broncos' coaching staff has yet to fully unleash him on offense. On tap is a Thursday night matchup with the Chiefs, a game that will likely require the Broncos to air it out in order to keep up with the high-powered Chiefs offense. The 21-year-old will look to bounce back in this Week 6 matchup when the Broncos head to Kansas City.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Makes impact in blowout loss

Mims brought in three of five targets for 73 yards, rushed once for three yards and returned two kickoffs for 121 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 70-20 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. Mims showed off his playmaking ability for the second straight week, recording a 38-yard grab while also offering a brief reprieve from a second-half Dolphins onslaught with a 99-yard kickoff return TD after Miami had jumped out to a 63-13 lead. Mims could continue carving out a bigger role in an offense that's looked better under new head coach Sean Payton, with his next opportunity to do so coming in a Week 4 road matchup against the Bears.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Displays big-play ability

Mims caught both of his targets for 113 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for 10 yards in Sunday's 35-33 loss to Washington. Mims wound up breaking the century mark while finishing as Denver's leading receiver despite seeing just two targets all game. The second-round rookie saw the same number of targets last week, but he turned those into just nine yards. The stark contrast should warn fantasy managers not to get too excited after this huge game, as Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy both started for the Broncos and had more targets than the rookie. That said, if Mims were to carve out a larger role on offense via an injury or depth chart change, he would stand to gain significant fantasy value. Mims' next chance to impress will come against the Dolphins next Sunday.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Catches two passes in debut

Mims caught both of his targets for nine yards in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Raiders. Despite talk of a potentially expanded role early in the season with Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) sidelined, Mims was on the field for just 17 of the Broncos' 64 offensive plays Sunday. The rookie wideout played behind Courtland Sutton, Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Brandon Johnson in snap percentage, and his two targets tied for the lowest total of the group. In the first regular season game of the Sean Payton era, Russell Wilson ultimately targeted 11 different players over 34 attempts in the passing game. With that said, it's possible Denver's coaching staff chose to ease Mims into action in his debut, but his impressive talent should lead to his increased involvement in the offense moving forward. Jeudy's injury status is still uncertain, but if he can return this week, Mims' upside could be capped when the Broncos host the Commanders in Week 2.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Week 1 Waiver Priority List

We'll see how long Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) is out, but Mims should play a prominent role this season even when Jeudy is back. Tim Patrick (Achilles) being out for the season will keep Mims on the field in three-receiver sets along with Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, and this is the first receiver Sean Payton added to the roster after taking over as the head coach. Mims is worth a late-round flier in all leagues, and he's worth adding for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Could step up for Jeudy

Coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Mims will play a lot in Saturday's preseason game against the Rams and may otherwise be asked to step up in the WR room if Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) misses time, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Jeudy is scheduled for an MRI following his early exit from Thursday's practice. He and Courtland Sutton have been the team's top two wide receivers all spring/summer, with Mims a clear favorite for the No. 3 role ever since Tim Patrick suffered an Achilles tear July 31. The rookie now has some chance to open the year in a top-two role, as the competition for playing time is less than formidable -- namely Brandon Johnson, Marquez Callaway, Kendall Hinton -- in the event of Jeudy missing regular-season games.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Ready for preseason debut

Mims will play during Saturday's preseason game against the 49ers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Mims sat out Denver's first exhibition matchup, despite having been fully cleared from his hamstring injury, but the rookie second-round pick is ready to go for Saturday. He's facing an opportunity to secure the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, following the season-ending injury sustained by Tim Patrick (Achilles).

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Should be healthy soon

Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Wednesday that Mims (hamstring) will "be [fully participating] in about four days, five days, maybe a week, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Mims has already missed some time due to a hamstring injury picked up "from a workout more recently," and he'll miss the first few days of training camp as well. It's at least positive news that the rookie second-round pick will be able to return before preseason action kicks off, and that his current issue is unrelated to the injury he had with his other hamstring earlier this offseason. When healthy, Mims will compete for a role in a wide receiving corps headlined by Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.

  • Broncos' Marvin Mims: Tending to hamstring injury

Mims is dealing with a hamstring injury as training camp opens Wednesday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Mims, who was limited at points during the offseason with an injury to his other hamstring, should be back at full speed within a few days to a week. The 2023 second-round pick will look to secure a steady role in a Denver wideout corps headed by Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton during his rookie season. Mims' main competition for the No. 3 role will likely come from Tim Patrick (knee) and KJ Hamler (pectoral), who are both working back from season-ending injuries.
