Player Outlook
Lawrence will enter the 2023 draft cycle as one of the most popular breakout picks at quarterback, and there's a lot to like about his projection. Lawrence made massive strides across the board in key metrics like touchdown rate, yards per attempt and completion percentage. He also started to convert his athleticism into points with five touchdowns on the ground. His 2023 supporting cast only gets better with the addition of Calvin Ridley. With his price likely to inflate as draft season unfolds, it's important to note Lawrence finished as a QB1 in just six games in 2022 and he had three weekly finishes outside the top 24. If you want to swing for Lawrence's upside, you'll probably have to grab him in Round 5.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Gets questionable tag for Sunday

Lawrence (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns after practicing in a limited fashion both Thursday and Friday. Per Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com, head coach Doug Pederson said earlier Friday that the Jaguars will wait until Sunday before deciding whether Lawrence -- who is dealing with a right high-ankle sprain -- will get the start versus Cleveland. Fortunately for those considering him in Week 14 fantasy lineups, Jacksonville kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, giving managers some alternatives in the event Lawrence can't play. For what it's worth, Jaguars beat writer Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union believes that Lawrence will be able to play through the injury Sunday, based on the signal-caller looked during the media-access portion of Friday's practice. C.J. Beathard is the next man up on the depth chart at quarterback for Jacksonville, and though he doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday, his practice participation was affected this week due to an injury to his non-throwing shoulder.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Likely game-time decision

Coach Doug Pederson noted that the status of Lawrence (ankle) for Sunday's game against the Browns will likely hinge on how the QB does in practice Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Pederson answered "probably so" when asked if Lawrence will be a game-time decision for Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff. Considering that, Lawrence is trending toward entering the weekend with a 'questionable' designation on the final injury report. He's dealing with a high ankle sprain and won't have his usual mobility if he ends up playing.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Returns to limited practice

Lawrence (ankle) was limited at practice Thursday. Lawrence is dealing with a high right-ankle sprain, but after missing Wednesday's session, the QB's ability to practice a day later -- albeit capped -- offers hope that he could play through the issue this weekend against the Browns. Unless Lawrence is able to practice fully Friday, however, he figures to approach Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET contest with an injury designation.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Takes part in practice

Lawrence (ankle) was spotted on the field for practice Thursday, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Per DiRocco, Lawrence noted Wednesday that his right ankle felt much better than he anticipated it would two days after suffering a right high-ankle sprain in Monday's overtime loss to the Bengals. While the quarterback didn't appear to take part in every drill Thursday, he warmed up with his teammates and did some throwing. The Jaguars' second Week 14 injury report will be issued later Thursday and clarify the extent of Lawrence's participation.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Not practicing

Lawrence (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. Lawrence never stood a chance to practice Wednesday after exiting Monday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Bengals with what was later diagnosed as a right high-ankle sprain. The Jaguars haven't ruled him out for Sunday's game against Cleveland, but it'll be surprising if he's able to play. C.J. Beathard came off the bench to replace Lawrence against the Bengals and should be in line for the Week 14 start.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Diagnosed with high-ankle sprain

Lawrence suffered a high-ankle sprain during Monday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Bengals, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports. Lawrence was bent backward as he was taken to the ground in the fourth quarter Monday and was in clear discomfort as he attempted to get to his feet. He then needed assistance to make his way to the locker room, after which X-rays came back negative. An MRI on Tuesday revealed the severity of the injury, and coach Doug Pederson indicated that the Jaguars "will see where he is in a couple days" before making a ruling on his status for a Week 14 road matchup with the Browns. It's notable that Pederson is delaying ruling out Lawrence for Sunday's game, but C.J. Beathard will sub in for Lawrence if the latter ultimately isn't able to go.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: May have avoided serious injury

The Jaguars are optimistic that Lawrence (ankle) may have avoided a serious injury after departing Monday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Bengals early, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Lawrence is set to undergo further medical testing Tuesday, so it shouldn't be long before Jacksonville releases an official update on the star quarterback's health. He exited Monday's game early after Left tackle Walker Little (hamstring) stepped on his right ankle, followed by a Cincinnati defender bending the quarterback awkwardly. C.J. Beathard then stepped into the lineup, and he would presumably be called upon to start Week 14 versus the Browns if Lawrence ultimately can't go.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Set for MRI on Tuesday

Larence (ankle) will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Lawrence exited Monday's game due to a left ankle sprain that he sustained when Jaguars tackle Walker Little (hamstring) stepped on the quarterback's right ankle, which was followed not long after by a Bengals defender bending him backward. No further information on the severity of the injury is expected until Lawrence is evaluated Tuesday. C.J. Beathard replaced Lawrence under center after the latter exited the contest and presumably will do so going forward if needed.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Heads to locker room

Lawrence is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Bengals due to an ankle injury, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports. Lawrence was helped to the locker room by Jacksonville's training staff after Jaguars tackle Walker Little stepped on the quarterback's right ankle and he was bent backward by a Bengals defender in quick succession. It remains to be seen if Lawrence will be available to reenter the game. C.J. Beathard will fill in under center as long as Lawrence is sidelined.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Throws for season-high 364 in win

Lawrence completed 23 of 38 passes for 364 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Texans. He also rushed twice for zero yards and one rushing touchdown, in addition to throwing a two-point conversion. Lawrence's one-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter came one play after a third-down defensive pass interference penalty in the end zone kept Jacksonville's offense on the field. After failing to post a rushing score through nine games, Lawrence has three rushing touchdowns in the last two games. He also connected with Calvin Ridley for a one-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion to take the lead in the third quarter. Lawrence got off to a slow start in 2023, but he set a new season high in passing yards in this game and has picked up the pace as both a passer and a rusher heading into a Week 13 home game against a Bengals team that's playing without Joe Burrow (wrist).

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Breaks out against Titans

Lawrence completed 24 of 32 passes for 262 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 24-14 win over the Titans. He added five rushes for 17 yards and two additional touchdowns. Lawrence accounted for all four of Jacksonville's touchdowns, connecting twice with Calvin Ridley in the end zone on passes of three and 20 yards. He also found the end zone twice on the ground -- his first rushing scores of the season -- from nine and five yards away. The performance marked only the third time this season that Lawrence has tallied multiple scores, and he also chipped in strong efficiency through the air by averaging 8.2 yards per attempt. The latter is particularly positive, as Lawrence pushed the ball down the field accurately by completing five passes of at least 20 yards -- matching his season high. A similar performance may be needed in Week 12 as the Jaguars travel to Houston for a pivotal divisional matchup.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Shut down by 49ers

Lawrence completed 17 of 29 passes for 185 yards and two interceptions in Sunday's 34-3 loss to the 49ers. He also rushed twice for seven yards and lost a fumble. Lawrence was under duress throughout against a San Francisco defensive line that sacked him five times. Still, the quarterback shoulders a substantial portion of the blame for the blowout loss, as the Jaguars scored a season-low three points and two of Lawrence's three turnovers came in 49ers territory. Lawrence will have a nice opportunity to bounce back in Week 11 against the Titans, but his 9:6 TD:INT through nine games is disappointing.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Just shy of 300 yards in win

Lawrence (knee) completed 24 of 32 passes for 292 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 20-10 win over Pittsburgh. He added one rushing attempt for 10 yards. With Jacksonville leading 6-0 and looking for more, Lawrence was picked off in the end zone on 1st-and-goal. Lawrence finally got the offense into the end zone with a 56-yard touchdown pass to Travis Etienne in the third quarter, but that was his only touchdown pass of the afternoon, as Lawrence has a modest 9:4 TD:INT heading into Jacksonville's Week 9 bye after posting a 25:8 TD:INT last season. The 24-year-old quarterback came eight yards shy of his second 300-yard performance of 2023 after reaching that mark four times in 2022.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Active against Pittsburgh

Lawrence (knee) is active Week 8 against the Steelers. Lawrence entered the week officially listed as questionable after logging limited practice sessions each day, but the expectation leading up to Sunday was that he'd once again suit up. Although his knee issue is said to have improved, Lawrence will once again play while sporting a protective brace. He was productive in Week 7 on Thursday Night Football despite not playing at 100 percent, completing 69 percent of his passes and throwing for a touchdown in the win over New Orleans. This week, he'll face a Pittsburgh defense that is allowing the eighth-fewest passing yards per game (192.2).

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Plans to wear knee brace again

Lawrence, who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, is on track to start but will wear a protective brace on his sprained left knee, James Palmer of NFL Network reports. According to Palmer, Lawrence feels better than he did Week 7, when he faced the Saints in a Thursday night game just four days after spraining the knee late in a 37-20 win over the Colts on Oct. 15. Despite playing through the knee injury, Lawrence completed 20 of 29 attempts for 204 yards and a touchdown while notably setting season highs in carries (eight) and rushing yards (59) in the Jaguars' 31-24 win over New Orleans. Even with a longer turnaround to recover from the knee injury, Lawrence wasn't able to upgrade from limited to full practice participation this week, but his production against the Saints should offer encouragement about his chances of continuing to perform for fantasy managers in Pittsburgh. Lawrence will then have more ample time to rest his knee when the Jaguars go on bye Week 9.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Another limited practice

Lawrence (knee) remained a limited participant at practice Thursday. Lawrence was also limited Wednesday, but so far there's nothing to suggest that the quarterback is in danger of missing Sunday's contest against the Steelers. However, Lawrence will probably need to be a full practice participant Friday in order to head into the weekend without an injury designation.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: QBs to Start

Lawrence only has two games this season with more than 20.1 Fantasy points, and his best outing is just 21.7 points in Week 1. He's played well of late against the Bills, Colts and Saints, but he's struggled to score multiple touchdowns. In fact, Travis Etienne (three) has more multiple touchdown games this season than Lawrence (two). I love that Lawrence is using his legs with at least 31 rushing yards in three of his past four games. And I expect him to pick apart this secondary, which has allowed three quarterbacks this season to score at least 20.6 Fantasy points (Brock Purdy in Week 1, Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 3 and C.J. Stroud in Week 4). I'm not expecting a huge game from Lawrence, but he should finish as a borderline-No. 1 Fantasy quarterback in Week 8.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Bust Candidate (Lineup Decisions)

It feels likely that Lawrence will keep up his string of sub-20-point Fantasy games against a defense that hasn't allowed many 20-point weeks. How he'll respond to pressure, especially considering his tender knee, could further make him off-target in a short-week matchup. He's on the fringe of a low-end QB1 for this week but I'd rather take a shot on the upside of Sam Howell and Jordan Love.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Limited but could play Thursday

Lawrence (knee) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, but the Jaguars remain optimistic he'll be available to play in Thursday's game against the Saints, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Per Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com, Lawrence was spotted taking part in individual drills during the open portion of Tuesday's practice, going through his workout while sporting a protective brace on the left knee he sprained late in Sunday's win over the Colts. Though Wolfe notes that backup quarterback C.J. Beathard took the larger share of first-team reps Tuesday, Beathard himself told Adam Stites of USA Today that it's "very likely" Lawrence starts Thursday. Head coach Doug Pederson could shed more light on the quarterback's status for Week 7 later Tuesday or after Wednesday's light practice.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Hurts knee late in game

Lawrence exited late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 37-20 win over the Colts with a knee injury and didn't return, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports. Lawrence sustained the injury when he was sacked with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth. Jacksonville initially listed Lawrence as questionable to return after he was able to walk off the field under his own power, but because the Jaguars were holding a 17-point lead when they got the ball back with 1:45 left in the game, C.J. Beathard ended up taking the snaps for the final possession. During his three-plus quarters of action Sunday, Lawrence completed 20 of his 30 passing attempts for 181 yards with two touchdowns and an interception to go with three carries for 15 yards. Jacksonville plays again Thursday versus New Orleans, so Lawrence's status will need to be monitored closely ahead of the Week 7 contest.
