Chiefs' Deneric Prince: Elevated ahead of Sunday's contest
The Chiefs elevated Prince to their active roster Saturday.
The rookie running back's elevation likely comes in response to Jerick McKinnon (groin) being ruled out for Sunday night's affair. Prince has yet to appear in an NFL game, but he's been with Kansas City's practice squad since the end of August. He'll more than likely back up Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the Chiefs' Week 13 outing.

Deneric Prince: Joins practice squad
Prince was picked up by the Chiefs' practice squad Wednesday.
With Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire ahead of him on the depth chart, Prince was always considered to be a long shot in terms of making it through final cuts. However, he will now get to remain in Kansas City and continue practicing with the team while he awaits the possibility of being called up should the depth ahead of him require it.

Deneric Prince: Let go by K.C.
Kansas City waived Prince on Tuesday.
With Prince being among the players waived or released by the defending champs Tuesday, Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are the three running backs remaining on the team's 53-man roster. That said, Prince could be added to Kansas City's practice squad if he clears waivers.

Chiefs' Deneric Prince: Gets four carries
Prince rushed four times for 14 yards in Sunday's 26-24 preseason loss to the Saints.
Prince entered at tailback after Clyde Edwards-Helaire played Kansas City's first two drives, totaling 22 yards on five touches. After Prince was sidelined, La'Mical Perine handled most of the Chiefs' rushing duties, gaining 24 yards on six carries. With Isiah Pacheco (hand/shoulder), Jerick McKinnon and Edwards-Helaire in tow, Prince's best path to the 53-man roster might be on special teams, but Sunday he gained only 36 yards on his two kickoff returns.

Chiefs' Deneric Prince: Returning kicks in preseason opener
Special teams coordinator Dave Toub announced this past Saturday that Prince will be Kansas City's starting kick returner in Sunday's preseason opener against the Saints, Ed Easton Jr. of USA Today reports.
Prince's ability to contribute on special teams should help bolster the undrafted rookie's chances of making Kansas City's 53-man roster, and he'll have a chance to showcase his skills in the return game Sunday. The running back out of Tulsa has received some reps with Patrick Mahomes and the first-team offense in practice, and Prince will likely get some opportunities on offense against New Orleans as well.

Chiefs' Deneric Prince: Making an impression
Prince has impressed his coaches and teammates during OTAs, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
Price went undrafted out of Tulsa, but he's making the most of his opportunity in Kansas City. Not only has he shown an ability to excel as a pass catcher out of the backfield, he could also potentially earn a role on special teams, specifically as a kick returner. Special teams coach Dave Toub believes Prince has an opportunity to handle that role, depending on how he progresses during training camp and the preseason, despite having just four kick returns in college. The 23-year-old still may face an uphill battle making the 53-man roster, but he's at least proving he deserves consideration thus far.

Deneric Prince: Expected to sign with Kansas City
The Chiefs are expected to sign Prince as an undrafted free agent, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Prince rushed 314 times for 1,723 yards and 14 touchdowns over his final three seasons at Tulsa, including a career-high 729 rushing yards during the 2022 campaign. The 6-foot running back barely made an impact in the passing game, but he did finish his senior year with nine receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs' running back depth chart is set at the top with Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, but Prince could carve out a depth role with a strong showing during training camp.
