49ers' Patrick Taylor: Finishes game as lead back
Taylor rushed seven times for 25 yards and a touchdown while failing to pull in his lone target in Sunday's 38-13 win over Chicago.
Fill-in starter Isaac Guerendo (foot) went down late in Sunday's win with a lower-body injury, affording Taylor the opportunity to score his first touchdown as a member of the 49ers. Guerendo's injury was speculated to be a foot sprain by the coaching staff, but there will likely be a clearer picture painted early in the upcoming practice week. Taylor would stand to gain the most fantasy value as the next man up should Guerendo be forced to miss any time. With a short week on tap ahead of Thursday's tilt against the Rams, Taylor should be the hot add on waivers a week after Guerendo (who scored twice Sunday) had fantasy managers scrambling to acquire him.

49ers' Patrick Taylor: Promoted to active roster
The 49ers signed Taylor off their practice squad Wednesday.
Taylor's promotion comes as no surprise after the 49ers lost Christian McCaffrey to a knee injury and Jordan Mason to an ankle injury, temporarily leaving rookie Isaac Guerendo as the only healthy running back on the active roster. Guerendo should step in as the lead runner, but Taylor may get a decent chunk of the playing time, especially on passing downs. The 49ers also added Israel Abanikanda via waivers this week, while Ke'Shawn Vaughn is a new addition to the practice squad who could be elevated ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears if the 49ers want a fourth option out of the backfield.

The 49ers signed Taylor to their active roster Wednesday.
With Christian McCaffrey (knee), Jordan Mason (ankle) and Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) all likely sidelined for the remainder of the season, Taylor's signing to the active roster provides crucial depth at running back. The fourth-year pro from Memphis is expected to serve as the 49ers' No. 2 running back moving forward, playing behind rookie Isaac Guerendo.

Patrick Taylor: Sticking around in San Francisco
The 49ers signed Taylor to the practice squad Tuesday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Taylor was waived by the 49ers on Friday to make room on the 53-man roster for the return of Christian McCaffrey from injured reserve. After clearing waivers, Taylor has opted to stay with the 49ers on the practice squad and will be available for a game day elevation in case San Francisco needs depth at running back. Taylor mostly played on special teams in eight regular-season games before the 49ers' Week 9 bye, but he managed to post seven carries for 25 yards and added one catch for 12 yards over that span.

Patrick Taylor: Dropped by San Francisco
The 49ers waived Taylor on Friday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
With Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) expected to return for San Francisco's Week 10 matchup against the Buccaneers, Taylor has been dropped from the active roster. The Memphis product appeared in eight games this season, logging seven carries for 25 yards and one reception for 12 yards across 95 total snaps (18 offensive and 77 on special teams). Taylor could find his way back onto the 49ers' practice squad if he clears waivers.

49ers' Patrick Taylor: Extra work Thursday
Taylor rushed five times for 16 yards and caught his lone target for 12 yards in Thursday's 36-24 win over Seattle.
Starter Jordan Mason (shoulder) missed chunks of Thursday's victory due to injury, opening the door for Isaac Guerendo (10-99-0) and Taylor to split snaps in the interim. The 49ers' fourth-round rookie had the standout performance in the starter's absence, while Taylor produced just 3.2 yards per tote in his first action on offense this season. The 26-year-old Taylor could maintain a small role in San Francisco's Week 7 game plan if Mason is forced to sit against Kansas City due to the AC joint injury he sustained Thursday.

49ers' Patrick Taylor: Finds home in San Fran
Taylor and the 49ers agreed to terms on a one-year contract Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Taylor spent the last four seasons in Green Bay, suiting up for 34 regular-season games from 2021 through 2023. During that time, he largely contributed on special teams before taking on an increased depth role on offense in 2023, when he rushed a career-high 32 times for 141 yards in 11 appearances. Heading into his first training camp with San Francisco, Taylor will compete for a depth role behind Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell.

Packers' Patrick Taylor: Finishes fourth on depth chart
Taylor had 32 carries for 141 yards and 11 receptions for 49 yards over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Taylor easily had his most productive campaign as a professional, as he set career highs nearly across the board and ran for a respectable 4.4 YPC. He's been a trusted back for the Packers since 2021, but he spent the early portion of the season on the practice squad and was even waived before being brought back in late November. There's a chance he could return to Green Bay for a fourth go-around, but he ended the season fourth on the depth chart, so it would not be surprising if the Packers opt to go in a different direction.
