  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Adds two receptions to ledger

Swaim reeled in his two targets for 10 yards while playing 34 of the Cardinals' 68 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Steelers.

Swaim finished with exactly two receptions for the third time in four games, but he's unlikely to see his profile on offense expand in any dramatic way with second-year tight end Trey McBride having locked down the top spot on the depth chart after a string of impressive receiving performances. In fact, Swaim may be more likely to see a downturn in playing time coming out of Arizona's Week 14 bye, as rookie sixth-round pick Elijah Higgins has made a case for more reps at tight end after recording 20-yard-plus receptions in both of the past two contests. Given that Swaim is 30 years old and set to reach free agency this offseason, the 3-10 Cardinals may not be incentivized to hand him snaps at the expense of Higgins.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Another two catches in Week 11

Swaim tallied two catches (on two targets) for 15 yards during Sunday's 21-16 defeat at Houston.

Swaim has started in two-TE sets along with second-year pro Trey McBride the last two games, and the former has managed a pair of receptions on both occasions. Additionally, with Zach Ertz (quadriceps) on IR since getting injured Week 7, Swaim's usage has ranged from 35 to 49 percent of the offensive snaps over the last four outings. McBride is the clear-cut top tight end for the Cardinals at the moment, but Swaim still has made marks, albeit minimal, in the box score in four of the last seven contests on his way to a 7-58-0 line on seven targets. Expect Swaim's role to continue for as long as Ertz is sidelined.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Good to go Sunday

Swaim (back) is listed as active ahead of Sunday's game versus Atlanta.

Swaim was considered questionable to play after he missed practice Thursday and was limited Friday due to a back injury. The 30-year-old will ultimately be able to suit up, and he should expect to maintain his role as Arizona's No. 2 tight end behind starter Trey McBride. Swaim has caught three passes for 30 yards across nine games this season.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Questionable for Sunday vs. Falcons

Swaim (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus Atlanta, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Swaim was able to return to practice in a limited capacity Friday after missing Thursday's session, giving himself a chance to suit up in Week 10. If he can't play, Blake Whiteheart could see some blocking reps at tight end Sunday.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Records first catches of season

Swaim secured both of his targets for 22 yards during Sunday's 34-20 defeat to the Bengals.

Swaim entered Week 5 action with just one target through the first four games of the season, while No. 1 tight end Zach Ertz (34) and second-year pro Trey McBride (10) have dominated that category at the position for the Cardinals. Having said that, Swaim has nearly matched McBride's snap count (110 versus 114). Without some sort of absence from Ertz, Swaim remains on the outside looking in to relevance in Arizona's offense.
