  • Browns' Jordan Akins: Happily reunited with Watson

Akins was on the field for Cleveland's organized team activities this week, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports. Akins signed with the Browns during the offseason and acknowledged that reuniting with quarterback Deshaun Watson as a primary reason. The two played three seasons together in Houston. The Browns placed plenty of offseason focus on improving targets for Watson, and the 6-foot-6 Akins brings familiarity and serves as a red-zone threat. Akins is expected to back up David Njoku at tight end.

  • Browns' Jordan Akins: Links up with Browns

Akins is signing a two-year contract with the Browns, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. A 2018 third-round pick, Akins played 73 games for Houston the past five seasons, topping 400 yards three times without ever reaching 500. His 37-495-5 receiving line last year was a career-best effort, and he's now headed to Cleveland where he'll compete for backup snaps with Harrison Bryant. Given his lack of blocking prowess, Akins might be an insurance plan for David Njoku more so than the clear-cut No. 2 TE -- a role that tends to be more about run-blocking than catching passes.

  • Jordan Akins: Draws interest from Browns

Akins is slated to visit the Browns, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Akins is coming off a 2022 campaign with the Texans in which he tied his career high in catches (37), while recording season bests in receiving yards (495) and TDs (five). If the 2018 third-rounder signs with the Browns, he'll add depth to a Cleveland tight end corps led by returnees David Njoku and Harrison Bryant.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Plays hero in season finale

Akins secured four of eight targets for 70 yards and two touchdowns in the Texans' 32-31 win over the Colts on Sunday. He also caught a game-winning two-point conversion pass. The journeyman tight end played the unlikely hero in an unlikely win, corralling a 28-yard touchdown grab on a 4th-and-20 heave from Davis Mills late in the fourth quarter and then securing the subsequent two-point conversion pass that proved the difference in the contest. Akins' Week 18 production allowed him to finish the 2022 campaign having tied his career high in receptions (37) and setting new personal bests in receiving yards (495) and touchdowns (five). The fifth-year pro played this season on a one-year contract, and given his ability to once again offer solid production as a pass catcher, Akins shouldn't have much trouble finding an NFL home in 2023.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Makes two receptions

Akins caught two passes for 38 yards on three targets against Jacksonville on Sunday. Akins has been productive on a per-snap basis in 2022, but he hasn't been able to scale up that production over a bigger workload. It's possible that Akins could do more if the Texans gave him more snaps, but with Brevin Jordan and O.J. Howard also in the mix, his opportunity is capped to an extent.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Three grabs in win

Akins caught all three of his targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 19-14 win over the Titans. Akins continued his career renaissance with another three grabs, giving him 31 receptions and 387 yards for the season, tops among the team's tight ends. The 30-year-old was off the radar to start the season, but Akins has moved to the top of the depth chart since joining the active roster in Week 3. Houston's passing attack is unreliable, but with Nico Collins (foot) done for the season and Brandin Cooks dealing with injuries, Akins has averaged 4.4 targets and scored twice over the last five weeks. He leads all Houston pass-catchers with three TDs and is second with nine red-zone targets.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

The Titans have allowed a tight end to score at least eight PPR points in three of their past four games, and Akins is worth a look in deeper leagues if you need a streaming option. He just scored a touchdown in Week 15 against Kansas City with three catches for 22 yards on six targets, and he now has at least 11 PPR points in two of his past four games. He also has three games with at least five targets over that span. Akins could get company this week if Brandin Cooks (calf) or Nico Collins (foot) return to action, but Akins could be useful given how bad the Titans have played in their secondary of late against tight ends.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Week 16 Streamers (TE Preview)

Akins has five or six targets in three of his last four games. The Titans have allowed the fifth-most Fantasy points to tight ends this season. Four of the past five tight ends to see five or more targets against them have scored 11 or more PPR Fantasy points.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

Akins is worth a look in deeper leagues, and he just scored in Week 15 against Kansas City with three catches for 22 yards on six targets. He now has at least 11 PPR points in two of his past four games, and he has three games with at least five targets over that span. The weather in Tennessee could be bad, and Akins could get company this week if Brandin Cooks (calf) or Nico Collins (foot) return to action. But in deeper leagues, Akins could be useful given how bad the Titans have played in their secondary, and Tennessee is No. 4 in most Fantasy points allowed to tight ends this year.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Gets into end zone Sunday

Akins brought in three of six targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' 30-24 overtime loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. Akins recorded a 12-yard scoring grab late in the third quarter that gave the Texans a brief lead. The veteran tight end's touchdown was his third of the season, and he's now posted at least three receptions in three of the last four contests. Akins should continue to profile as an occasional red-zone threat during a Week 16 road matchup versus the Titans on Saturday afternoon.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

Akins has come on of late with 11 targets in his past two games against Miami and Cleveland, and hopefully he continues to be involved with Davis Mills back under center. Akins has scored at least 10 PPR points in two of his past four games, and the Texans should be throwing a lot in this matchup with the Cowboys. It should help Akins if Brandin Cooks (calf) remains out, and Akins is worth using as a streamer in deeper leagues in Week 14.

Akins has scored at least 10 PPR points in two of his past four games, and the Texans should be throwing a lot in this matchup with the Cowboys. Akins and even Brevin Jordan should benefit with Brandin Cooks (calf) and Nico Collins (foot) out, and Jordan just had four catches for 46 yards on five targets in Week 13 against the Browns.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: TE target leader in loss

Akins caught three of six targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 27-14 loss to the Browns. Akins, who has been the tight end target leader for the last several games, was given competition for targets by Brevin Jordan (five), who had been a healthy inactive the previous three weeks. If Houston plans to have Jordan active going forward, or if rookie Teagan Quitoriano's role continues to grow, Akins' opportunities could diminish.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Week 13 Waiver Priority List

Akins has taken over as the lead tight end for the Texans, and he stepped up in the first start with Kyle Allen in Week 12 at Miami with five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown on five targets. He's now scored at least 10 PPR points in two of his past three games, and he can be a low-end starter in deeper leagues for the rest of the season, starting in Week 13 against the Browns. He's worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Snaps TD drought

Akins caught five of five targets for a team-high 61 yards and a 25-yard touchdown catch in Sunday's 30-15 loss to Miami in Week 12. He also had a fumble that turned into a Dolphins defensive touchdown. Akins hauled in his first touchdown since Week 3 and had his fifth catch of more than 20 yards. That helped make up for the fumble, which came after a jarring hit by safety Eric Rowe. It's looking like the benching of Brevin Jordan -- at three consecutive weeks and running -- is a permanent decision, so Akins should continue to see the bulk of targets at tight end.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Three grabs in loss

Akins caught three of three targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Giants. With Brevin Jordan a healthy inactive, Akins ramped up his production after a couple of quiet games. He accounted for Houston's longest play of the game, a 46-yard catch-and-run which set up one of five red-zone opportunities that failed to lead to a touchdown. It's unknown how the Texans plan to use Jordan going forward, but it is a boost to Akins' value if his benching becomes long term.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: One target in loss

Akins did not catch his lone target in Thursday's 29-17 loss to the Eagles in Week 9. For a second consecutive week, Akins was not heavily involved. He had a four-week stretch -- 10 catches, 154 yards, one touchdown -- that hinted at fantasy worth at a notoriously unproductive position. If there was a game where Houston tight ends could make a difference, it was Thursday when both Brandin Cooks (personal) and Nico Collins (groin) were unavailable, but it did not materialize for Akins.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Low output in loss

Akins caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Tennessee in Week 8. Akins was one of several skill-position players whose production was subdued on a day when the offense gained just 161 yards. Akins had gained 154 yards on 10 catches, including a touchdown, over the last four weeks, but without a credible running game, quarterback Davis Mills seems unable to carry the offense.

  • Texans' Jordan Akins: Yardage leader Week 7

Akins caught three of four targets for a team-high 68 yards in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Raiders. He continued his strong play at the tight end position and appears to be clicking with quarterback Davis Mills. Akins was given an opportunity with Brevin Jordan sidelined the last three weeks and played himself from the practice squad to the active roster. However, Jordan returned Sunday and led the position group in snaps, and he could eat into Akins' opportunities going forward.
