  • Commanders' Jalyn Holmes: Returns to D.C.

Holmes re-signed with the Commanders on Wednesday. Holmes split time between the Jets and Commanders in 2024, appearing in 19 games between the regular season and playoffs and finishing with 21 tackles and a pair of sacks. He'll likely serve as a rotational piece along the Washington defensive line in 2025.

  • Texans' Jalyn Holmes: Headed to Houston

Holmes and the Texans have agreed on a one-year contract, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Holmes was able to compile 14 total tackles (10 solo), including a career-high 2.0 sacks, over 11 regular-season games in 2024 with the Commanders. The defensive tackle will now likely operate as a depth option behind Sheldon Rankins and Tommy Togiai with Houston in 2025.

  • Commanders' Jalyn Holmes: Plays in 16 games in 2024

Holmes recorded 18 tackles (11 solo), including 2.0 sacks, over 16 regular-season games -- five with the Jets and 11 with the Commanders -- in 2024. Holmes began the season with the Jets' practice squad and was signed to the active roster after appearing in each of the team's first three games. He was then released in mid-October but quickly found a new organization, signing with Washington a few days later. Holmes took on a rotational role with the Commanders, typically playing 15-25 percent of the team's defensive snaps, but he saw more work in the playoffs and logged a season-high 55 percent of the team's defensive snaps in the NFC Championship Game versus Philadelphia. Holmes is slated to be a free agent upon the start of the offseason and played well enough while with the Commanders to potentially land a deal to fill a rotational role either with Washington or elsewhere.

  • Commanders' Jalyn Holmes: Inks deal with Washington

Holmes signed with the Commanders on Wednesday. The veteran defensive lineman has been brought in by the Commanders to add depth to a unit that just lost Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (pectoral) for the remainder of the season. Expect Holmes to serve as a rotational interior defensive lineman when the Commanders host the Panthers in Week 7.

  • Jets' Jalyn Holmes: Re-ups with Jets

The Jets re-signed Holmes on Wednesday, John Pullano of the team's official site reports. Holmes tallied five tackles and one sack across five appearances with the Jets last season, though his first defensive snaps came in Week 18. He'll get another chance to compete for a reserve role along the Jets' defensive line in 2024.

  • Giants' Jalyn Holmes: Being evaluated for a concussion

Holmes is being evaluated for a concussion after leaving Sunday's preseason finale against the Jets, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Per Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record, Holmes was playing well but had to be carted to the locker room in the first half. He recorded one tackle before leaving the exhibition game.

  • Saints' Jalyn Holmes: Activated from COVID list

Holmes (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday. Holmes landed in the health and safety protocols Dec. 23 and missed Monday's contest against the Dolphins as a result. However, he is now in line to return for the Saints' Week 17 matchup against the Panthers and should return to his rotational role along the defensive line.

Holmes was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday after testing positive for the virus, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. • Saints' Jalyn Holmes: Joins active roster

The Saints signed Holmes to their active roster off the practice squad Wednesday. Holmes was scooped up by the Saints after the Vikings cut him loose before the regular-season opener. Last year, the 2018 fourth-round pick played in 14 games and recorded 36 tackles and two pass deflections. The Ohio State product was on New Orleans' active roster for Week 2 and saw 12 defensive snaps and recorded one tackle. It's unclear how big of a role he will have in Week 5.

  • Vikings' Jalyn Holmes: Ruled out for season finale

Holmes (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions. Holmes will miss a second straight game to close out the 2020 campaign, which comes as no surprise given that he was unable to contribute any sort of practice participation throughout the week. The 24-year-old garnered only one start over Minnesota's first six games of the season, but an Oct. 22 trade of Yannick Ngakoue to Baltimore opened up opportunities for Holmes down the stretch. He registered eight straight starts between Weeks 8 and 15, concluding his season with 36 tackles, four QB hits and no sacks over 14 appearances.
