  • Taylor Bertolet: Deal with Chargers runs out

Bertolet (quadriceps) had his practice-squad contract with the Chargers expire Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Bertolet joined the Chargers' practice squad Oct. 6 and was elevated in Week 5 and 7 to fill in for injured starting kicker Dustin Hopkins (hamstring). The 30-year-old Bertolet went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts and made all six of his extra-point tries over these two contests, though he picked up a quadriceps injury and was placed on the practice squad injured list Nov. 3. He then finished the season on this list, and he'll now look to land a new contract ahead of the 2023 campaign.

  • Taylor Bertolet: Dealing with quad injury

Bertolet landed on the Chargers' practice squad IR after tweaking his quadriceps during practice Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. While the exact severity of Bertolet's injury is still unclear, he won't be able to play until at least the Chargers' Week 13 matchup against the Raiders. The 30-year-old made all three of his field-goal attempts and went 6-for-6 on point-after tries while filling in for injured starting kicker Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) in Weeks 5 and 7. If he comes off the injured list before the end of the season, Bertolet will be eligible for one more elevation from the Chargers' practice squad.

  • Taylor Bertolet: Heads to injured list

The Chargers placed Bertolet (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Thursday. Bertolet played in two of the Chargers' last three contests while Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) missed time with separate quadriceps and hamstring injuries. However, the practice-squad kicker is now also dealing with what appears to be a significant injury coming off the team's bye in Week 8, though the exact nature of this issue is still unknown. With Hopkins still sidelined and Bertolet unable to play for at least the next four games, Cameron Dicker should operate as the Chargers' primary kicker after being signed to the practice squad Thursday as well.

  • Taylor Bertolet: Placed back on practice squad

Bertolet reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Bertolet filled in for Dustin Hopkins (quadriceps) once again, making all three of his PATs against the Seahawks on Sunday. With the Chargers going into a bye week, it's possible Hopkins will be healed in time for Week 9 against the Falcons. However, if he isn't, Bertolet will likely be elevated to the active roster once again.

  • Chargers' Taylor Bertolet: Set to kick

Bertolet was elevated off the Chargers' practice squad Saturday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Dustin Hopkins (quadriceps) is set to miss a bit of time after heroically carrying the Chargers to a win Monday, setting the stage for Bertolet to kick Sunday against Seattle. The rookie kicker filled in for Hopkins back in Week 5, converting all three of his field-goal attempts and three extra-point tries.

Bertolet reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Bertolet received the promotion with Dustin Hopkins (quadriceps) out Sunday against the Browns. • Chargers' Taylor Bertolet: Kicking for Bolts in Week 5

Bertolet is in line to handle kicking duties for the Chargers on Sunday against the Browns with Dustin Hopkins (quadriceps) inactive for the contest, Joe Reedy of The Associated Press reports. Bertolet, who went undrafted out of Texas A&M in 2016, will get his long-awaited chance to make his NFL debut after being elevated from the practice squad Saturday. Unless Hopkins' quad injury proves to be a long-term concern, Bertolet may only be in store for a one-game stint as the Chargers' placekicker. Since he'll be tied to one of the NFL's better offenses, Bertolet could make for a startable option in fantasy leagues in Week 5.

The Chargers elevated Bertolet to their active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game at Cleveland. With regular kicker Dustin Hopkins (quadriceps) listed as questionable for Week 5, Bertolet will now be on hand in case he needs to be called upon. • Taylor Bertolet: Let go from practice squad

The Panthers cut Bertolet from the practice squad Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Bertolet linked up with Carolina due to starting kicker Eddy Pineiro's hip injury. Pineiro ended up being able to go Week 1 and made all four kicks, so Bertolet will need to wait for another opportunity to show his talents.

  • Taylor Bertolet: Checking in with Packers

Bertolet is visiting with the Packers this week, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Green Bay's Mason Crosby has missed PATs in back-to-back contests, but he's a perfect 14-for-14 this season on field-goal tries. While the veteran has yet to sit out a game since entering the league in 2007, the Packers are seemingly investigating alternative options in case of an injury or COVID-induced absence. The 28-year-old Bertolet was cut from Carolina's practice squad Dec. 1 and has yet to kick in a regular-season game.

  • Taylor Bertolet: Inks practice squad deal

The Panthers signed Bertolet to the practice squad Saturday, Myles Simmons of the team's official site reports. This may have been in the works for a few days because Joey Slye was on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Slye has been lifted and will kick for the Panthers on Sunday against the Saints, however, so Bertolet will simply add depth at kicker.

  • Taylor Bertolet: Cut in favor of Vedvik

The Jets are cutting Bertolet, who was replaced by Kaare Vedvik on Sunday, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports. Vedvik will handle the job Week 1 against Buffalo.

  • Jets' Taylor Bertolet: Outstanding against Saints

Bertolet converted both of his field-goal attempts -- from 48 and 56 yards -- along with his lone PAT try in Saturday's 28-13 preseason loss to the Saints. Bertolet's excellent performance has him on pace to lock down the Jets' kicking job, as he's given the team little reason to bring in outside competition.

  • Jets' Taylor Bertolet: Misses two PATs Thursday

Bertolet converted one of three extra-point attempts and made his lone field-goal attempt in Thursday's preseason game in Atlanta. Bertolet signed with the Jets on Sunday after Chandler Catanzaro suddenly retired following the preseason opener, but the change in kickers didn't yield improved results. Bertolet is currently the lone kicker on the roster and therefore remains the favorite for the starting job, and according to Brian Costello of the New York Post, coach Adam Gase said, "Right now this is where we're at. This is who we're going with." It's not exactly a major vote of confidence, so the team seems likely to continue searching for outside candidates, especially if the 26-year-old continues to struggle.

Bertolet was picked up by the Jets after Chandler Catanzaro unexpectedly retired after the first preseason game.
