Poyer finished the 2023 regular season with 101 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, four passes defensed and one forced fumble over 16 games. Poyer did fail to come up with an interception for the first time in his seven seasons as a Bill, though he made up for it in other categories, finishing in the top 25 among safeties in most IDP formats. He continues to see the field on a full-time basis even into his 30s, and the Bills get him for at least one more season under the back half of his two-year deal. Worth noting is that long-time safety partner Micah Hyde is mulling retirement -- the two have been a fantastic duo for several seasons.... See More ... See Less

Bills' Jordan Poyer: Double-digit tackles in win
Poyer finished Sunday's 27-21 win over the Patriots with 10 tackles (eight solo). Poyer co-led the Bills in tackles with linebacker Terrel Bernard. Poyer played every defensive snap for the second straight game and reached double-digit tackles for the third time this season. He's up to 95 tackles (62 solo), including a 1.0 sacks, four passes defended and a forced fumble over 15 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Misses practice
Poyer (leg) will not practice Thursday, according to head coach Sean McDermott, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Poyer played 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps for the fifth consecutive week Sunday against the Bengals. So, it's not clear when he may have picked up the injury or if this is more of a maintenance day for the veteran safety. With the Bills not playing until Monday, Poyer will have Friday and Saturday to get out on the practice field before their Week 10 matchup against the Broncos.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Leads team in tackles
Poyer logged 11 tackles (eight solo) during Buffalo's 24-18 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. Poyer led the team in tackles Sunday while also tallying double-digit tackles for the second time this season. The 32-year-old has now compiled 53 tackles (38 solo), including a sack, in eight games and will look to produce again this week versus Denver.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Eight tackles in win
Poyer had eight tackles (three solo) and two pass deflections in Thursday's 24-18 win over the Buccaneers. Poyer tied with Terrel Bernard for the most tackles in Thursday's game, and the former is second behind the latter in total tackles on the year with 42. Poyer is on pace to surpass his total tackles mark of 63 last year and could crack 100-plus tackles for the first time since 2020. He'll look to add to his numbers in Week 9 against the Bengals.... Bills' Jordan Poyer: Logs full participation
Poyer (shoulder) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. Poyer missed Buffalo's Week 4 win against Miami with a shoulder injury, but it seems as if he's had enough time to move past the issue. The 32-year-old made a Pro Bowl and received first-team All-Pro honors in the last two years, recording 156 tackles, 17 pass deflections and nine interceptions during that span.... See More ... Bills' Jordan Poyer: Sidelined by injury
Poyer (knee) will not practice Wednesday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. Poyer is dealing with knee soreness, but he did handle a typical workload Sunday against the Commanders, so it's not clear what the severity of the issue is. Although this can likely be viewed as more of a rest day, it is still worth monitoring his practice status for Thursday and Friday to get a read on whether he's at risk of missing the team's Week 4 game against the Dolphins.... Bills' Jordan Poyer: Should play despite recent DNPs
Poyer (knee) said that he plans on playing Saturday against the Bears despite failing to practice both Tuesday and Wednesday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Although Poyer didn't partake in either of Tuesday's or Wednesday's preparatory sessions due to a knee issue, he's still anticipated to handle his every-down safety role this weekend in Chicago.... Bills' Jordan Poyer: Returning to action Sunday
Poyer (elbow) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Browns. Poyer missed the Bills' last two games as a result of an elbow injury he sustained during Buffalo's Week 8 matchup versus Green Bay, but he was able to practice in full capacity Friday and is now slated to start at safety Sunday against Cleveland. The 31-year-old has recorded 21 tackles and four interceptions across five games played so far this season.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Cleared for Week 6
Poyer doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's contest against the Chiefs. Poyer was sidelined for the Bills' blowout win over the Steelers in Week 5 due to injured ribs, but he returned to practice in a limited fashion Wednesday, progressed to a full participant Friday, and has been cleared for Sunday. The starting safety's presence will go a long way in Buffalo's attempt to slow down Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City's league-leading scoring offense.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Gets X-ray
Poyer (undisclosed) went to the X-ray room after the Bills' 23-20 win over the Ravens on Sunday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Poyer came into Sunday questionable with a foot injury; however he did play, recording four tackles and two interceptions in the contest. Whether the need for an X-ray is related to his foot is still unknown.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Confirmed out against Miami
Poyer (foot) is inactive Week 3 against the Dolphins. Poyer's absence, combined with that of Micah Hyde (neck), will leave the Bills severely shorthanded and inexperienced at safety against a red-hot Miami passing attack. Look for Jaquan Johnson and Damar Hamlin to see a major uptick in reps.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Likely sitting out Week 3
Poyer (foot) is not expected to play Sunday at Miami, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Poyer practiced in a limited capacity this week and appeared to be trending in the right direction, but it now appears he'll probably need to sit out at least one game as he recovers from a foot injury. With Micah Hyde (neck) on the injured reserve list, Jaquan Johnson and Damar Hamlin may both have to start Sunday and would be in for a tough test against Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.... Bills' Jordan Poyer: Officially considered questionable
Poyer (foot) is considered questionable to play Sunday versus the Dolphins after logging a limited practice Friday. Poyer returned to the practice field Friday, albeit in a limited fashion, which bodes well for his chances to play Sunday in Miami. The 31-year-old could be a game-time decision, while his running mate Micah Hyde (neck) has already been ruled out.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Healing, but no firm return date
Coach Sean McDermott said Thursday that Poyer (hyperextended elbow) is "trending in the right direction" but did not provide a target date for his return, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports. It would seem highly doubtful that Poyer will play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Colts, though the injury does not sound too long term in nature and Poyer still has plenty of time to be ready for Week 1. However, it's worth noting that's three days earlier in Buffalo's case, as the Bills kick off the season Sept. 8 on Thursday Night Football against the Rams.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Hyperextends elbow
Poyer sustained a hyperextended elbow at Tuesday's practice and will be sidelined a couple weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Poyer made an early exit from the session and was looked at by the training staff before undergoing an MRI. Now that a diagnosis is confirmed, he'll likely be sidelined for the rest of training camp and the entirety of the preseason slate, with the aim to be ready for a Week 1 road matchup with the Rams.... Bills' Jordan Poyer: Needs MRI
Poyer left practice early Tuesday with an arm injury and will need an MRI, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Poyer was attended to by trainers, who sent him to the locker room, and he was unable to return. Any significant time missed for the 31-year-old would be a major blow to the Bills' defense.... Bills' Jordan Poyer: Suffers arm injury
Poyer left Tuesday's practice after suffering an arm injury, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. Poyer was attended to by trainers, who sent him to the locker room and his day was over. The Bills just dodged a bullet with Micah Hyde's minor hip injury, but Poyer is equally important to the defense's success, and the team would be hurting if he's out for any length of time.... Bills' Jordan Poyer: Still sorting out contract
Poyer, who has been unhappy with his contract situation and missed OTAs, is at training camp Sunday and will practice, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Bills GM Brandon Beane and Poyer's agent Drew Rosenhaus are trying to work something out in terms of a long-term deal for the prized safety, who's a key part of one of the league's best secondaries.... See More ... See Less -
Bills' Jordan Poyer: Plans to attend minicamp
Poyer will attend mandatory minicamp this week, though he's still seeking an extension with Buffalo, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Poyer already opted out of OTAs due to his displeasure with his contract situation. The Bills reportedly are in contact with his agents, though, and the fact he returned to practice could be a good sign that a deal is imminent. Poyer and Micah Hyde are considered one of the best safety duos in the league, so Buffalo has a strong interest in keeping the two together for this season's run at the Super Bowl.... See More ...
