The 2026 Stanley Cup Final matchup has been set. The Carolina Hurricanes capped off their domination of the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Final, and they meet the Vegas Golden Knights with the Cup on the line.
Following one of the greatest Stanley Cup Final games in recent memory, the Golden Knights hold a 2-1 series lead. On a historic night in Las Vegas, Mitch Marner tallied the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history before the Hurricanes launched the largest third-period comeback in Final history by erasing a 4-0 deficit.
After those dizzying momentum swings, the teams fought to a stalemate at the end of the first overtime before Shea Theodore got a fortunate boucne in double overtime. His shot ricocheted off the end boards and caromed in off the skate of Carolina goaltender Brandon Bussi.
Going into Game 4, the Golden Knights can push the Hurricanes to the brink of elimination, and the Hurricanes have a goaltending controversy on their hands.
