Okhotyuk notched an assist and three hits in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Sharks. Okhotyuk's assist was his first point in seven contests with the Flames since he was traded from the Sharks at the deadline. The 23-year-old has struggled to stay in the lineup even in a bottom-four role. For the season, he has nine points, 52 shots on net, 144 hits, 78 blocked shots, 46 PIM and a minus-25 rating over 50 appearances.... See More ... See Less

Flames' Nikita Okhotyuk: Shipped north
Okhotyuk was traded to Calgary by San Jose on Friday in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round selection. Okhotyuk is currently stuck in a 14-game goal drought during which he's registered one assist and 18 shots while adding 34 hits and 17 blocks. Even with the move to the Flames, the blueliner is far from a lock for the lineup, especially with Calgary having already added Joel Hanley and Daniil Miromanov (not injury related) via waivers and a trade, respectively.... Sharks' Nikita Okhotyuk: Provides helper in win
Okhotyuk notched an assist, two shots on goal, three hits, three blocked shots and two PIM in Monday's 2-1 win over the Capitals. Okhotyuk was scratched Saturday versus the Canucks, but it appears to just be standard rest for the 22-year-old as he adjusts to the rigors of a full NHL campaign. He's logged four assists over his last five games, growing into a top-four role on the Sharks' blue line. Okhotyuk is up to five assists, 27 blocked shots, 20 hits, 16 PIM, nine shots on net and a minus-5 rating through a career-high 12 appearances.... See More ... See Less -

Okhotyuk notched an assist, two blocked shots and two PIM in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Kraken. Okhotyuk took a shot that went high but bounced off the boards to Mike Hoffman, who scored the Sharks' lone goal. With three helpers over his last two games, Okhotyuk seems to be settling into his newfound top-four role. He's at four assists, seven shots on net, 17 hits, 20 blocked shots, 14 PIM and a minus-3 rating through 10 outings overall.... See More ... See Less -

Sharks' Nikita Okhotyuk: Skates at Thursday's practice
Okhotyuk (abdomen) was at practice Thursday and general manager Mike Grier said it was "good to see him skating the way he was skating" after the session, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Okhotyuk underwent core muscle surgery in April. He'll be competing for a roster spot in training camp now that he's recovered from the procedure, but there's a good chance the 22-year-old defenseman opens the season with AHL San Jose. He has three points in 15 career NHL games, all with the Devils.... See More ... See Less -
