Kolyachonok was called up from AHL Tucson on Wednesday to replace Maksymilian Szuber on the active roster. It was a much better second game of the season for Kolyachonok, who sustained a lower-body injury in his only other contest this season back in November. The 22-year-old has two points, two shots on net, two hits, one blocked shot and a plus-2 rating over two NHL outings. The Coyotes have no extra healthy defensemen on the roster, so as long as Kolyachonok remains in the NHL, he's likely to hold down a third-pairing spot.
Kolyachonok sustained a lower-body injury in the second period of Saturday's game versus the Golden Knights.
Kolyachonok took a heavy hit from Jonathan Marchessault in the second period. The injury makes Kolyachonok the fourth Coyotes blueliner to be out of action, joining Travis Dermott (upper body), Matt Dumba (lower body) and Juuso Valimaki (mouth). If none of those defensemen are healthy for Tuesday's game versus the Lightning, the Coyotes may need to make another recall from AHL Tucson.

The 22-year-old blueliner played 32 games for the Coyotes two seasons ago, scoring once and adding a pair of assists. He managed to see action in only two games last season with the big club -- he did, however, appear in 71 games with AHL Tucson, scoring three times and adding 18 helpers. Kolyachonok has two goals and an assist in 11 AHL games this year. He will likely be the extra defenseman Thursday as Juuso Valimaki is expected to be out for a while after taking a puck to the face Tuesday versus Dallas.

Kolyachonok, Anton Stralman and a second-round draft pick were traded to Arizona from Florida in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Kolyachonok was a second-round pick (52nd overall) in 2019 and was attached to Stralman in this cap-dump trade by the Panthers. The 20-year-old Kolyachonok scored six points in 46 games with KHL Minsk last season and added two assists in 10 appearances with AHL Syracuse. He joined the Panthers' postseason roster but has yet to make his NHL debut. Kolyachonok will likely begin the 2021-22 campaign with AHL Tucson.
