  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Concludes with three catches

Musgrave was targeted four times and caught three passes for 14 yards in Saturday's 24-21 loss to the 49ers. Musgrave showed his upside with a 52-yard, one-score showing in Green Bay's playoff opener at Dallas, but he did not make as much noise in the finale. The rookie second-rounder put his potential on display several times early in the season before missing six games due to a lacerated kidney. He returned in a reserve role Week 18 behind fellow rookie Tucker Kraft, but Musgrave did play ahead of Kraft prior to that. The two figure to compete for the top spot over the offseason, but regardless of how things shake out, expect both to factor heavily in 2024.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Expecting larger role in playoffs

Musgrave said Thursday that he checked out fine in his return to action in the Packers' Week 18 win over the Bears and expects to take on a larger workload Sunday in the wild-card game in Dallas, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. After missing six straight games with a lacerated kidney, Musgrave was activated from injured reserve ahead of the regular-season finale, but he ended up seeing the lightest snap count of his rookie campaign as the Packers intentionally eased him back into the mix. Musgrave recorded one catch for 11 yards across his nine snaps in the win over Chicago and said he felt good after absorbing some contact, so he'll presumably increase the intensity of his practice activity this week to prepare himself for more work in the postseason opener. Musgrave probably won't be asked to take on the 70-plus-percent snap shares he typically handled prior to suffering the injury to his kidney, but he could end up operating in more of an even timeshare at tight end Sunday with fellow rookie Tucker Kraft.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Limited in return

Musgrave was targeted once and caught one pass for 11 yards in Sunday's 17-9 victory over the Bears. Musgrave took the field for the first time since sustaining a lacerated kidney Week 11, but the Packers were rather cautious with him, as he was on the field for only nine of a possible 60 snaps. He could be more active in next Sunday's playoff matchup with the Cowboys, but it seems likely fellow rookie tight end Tucker Kraft -- who played 54 snaps Week 18 -- will continue working as Green Bay's primary tight end.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Returning to action Sunday

Musgrave (kidney) is active for Sunday's game against the Bears, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports. Musgrave officially has completed his recovery from the lacerated kidney that has sidelined him since he suffered the internal injury back in Week 11 against the Chargers. Considering he had his practice reps capped the last two weeks, there's a chance he's somewhat inhibited in his return to action, especially with how fellow rookie tight end Tucker Kraft has fared in Musgrave's stead. In any case, Musgrave has another chance to add to his first-year line of 33-341-1 on 45 targets in 10 appearances.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Comes off IR, still questionable

The Packers activated Musgrave (kidney) from injured reserve Saturday, but he remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears. Musgrave has strung together back-to-back weeks of limited listings on Green Bay's injury reports as he put the finishing touches on his recovery from the lacerated kidney that he sustained Week 11 against the Chargers. If he's able to suit up Sunday, he may serve in a secondary role behind fellow tight end Tucker Kraft as the former eases back into the rigors of game action. Prior to the IR stint, Musgrave was putting together a nice rookie campaign (33-341-1 on 45 targets in 10 games).

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Remains limited Thursday

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Musgrave (kidney) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. Since being designated for return from injured reserve Dec. 21, Musgrave hasn't managed anything more than limited participation in practice while he works his way back from a lacerated kidney. According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, LaFleur said that a return to the lineup for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Bears is still "realistic" for Musgrave, but the rookie tight end may need to upgrade to full practice participation Friday to convince the coaching staff he's ready for game action. While Musgrave has been sidelined for the past six games, fellow rookie Tucker Kraft has stepped in admirably as Green Bay's starting tight end while providing a 23-281-2 receiving line on 30 targets over that span.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Stays limited Wednesday

Musgrave (kidney) was a limited participant at Wednesday's walkthrough. Musgrave is maintaining his practice activity level from last week, when he was listed as doubtful for Week 17 action and eventually wasn't activated from injured reserve ahead of this past Sunday's game at Minnesota. Head coach Matt LaFleur told Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last Thursday that Musgrave must be medically cleared from his lacerated kidney and also look like himself in order to suit up on game days, which clearly hasn't come to pass yet. Musgrave will have two more chances this week to give the Packers enough evidence that activation from IR is a reasonable course of action before Sunday's regular-season finale against the Bears.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Doubtful for Sunday

Musgrave (abdomen) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's contest at Minnesota, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. Considering Musgrave remains on injured reserve, the Packers will have to decide whether he has a chance to return by Saturday afternoon, with a 4:00 p.m. ET deadline to activate him looming. If that comes to pass, he may still be listed as doubtful, giving him little chance to be active once the team posts its inactives about 90 minutes before Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming Musgrave is held out another week, Tucker Kraft will continue to operate as Green Bay's primary receiving tight end.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Another limited listing

Musgrave (kidney) was limited at Thursday's practice. Musgrave now has a limited walkthrough and a capped practice under his belt this week as he continues his recovery from the lacerated kidney that he suffered Week 11 versus the Chargers. Coach Matt LaFleur told Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Thursday that Musgrave is pining to play Sunday against the Vikings, but the rookie right end will need to receive medical clearance along with looking like himself in order to do so. Ultimately, the Packers will need to activate Musgrave from injured reserve by Saturday afternoon for him to have a chance to suit up this weekend.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Officially listed as limited

Musgrave (kidney) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice estimate. The Packers merely held a walkthrough, but Musgrave's listed activity level was reflected in his ability to take part in individual drills Wednesday, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. Musgrave thus logged his first on-field work since lacerating his kidney Week 11 against the Chargers. Whether or not he's able to play during the final two weeks of the regular season has yet to be determined.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Practicing Wednesday

Musgrave (kidney) participated in individual drills at Wednesday's practice, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Musgrave was designated for return from injured reserve last Thursday, but he went down as a non-participant on the Packers' last two Week 16 injury reports before sitting out Sunday's 33-30 win over Carolina. As the team opens Week 17 prep, he appears poised to be listed as a limited participant Wednesday as he seeks to come back from the lacerated kidney that he sustained during a Week 11 win over the Chargers.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Moves on to rehabilitation

Musgrave (kidney) was a part of the Packers' injury rehab group Thursday, Kassidy Hill of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Musgrave joined the likes of non-participants Christian Watson (hamstring) and AJ Dillon (thumb), while his healthy teammates went outside for practice. The rookie second-round pick has been sidelined since he was hospitalized following the Packers' Week 11 win against the Chargers due to a lacerated kidney, which forced an IR stint. So far, Musgrave has missed three games as a result of the injury, meaning he technically could be available Week 16 at Carolina. Perhaps his ability to progress to rehab Thursday is a positive sign in that direction, but until Musgrave is healthy, Tucker Kraft will continue to serve as Green Bay's top tight end.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Uncertain for remainder of 2023

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that he doesn't know if Musgrave (abdomen) will be able to play again this season, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. Musgrave isn't eligible to return from injured reserve until Week 16, but he appears to be at risk of missing the final seven contests of his rookie season due to a lacerated kidney. While Josiah Deguara (hip) and Musgrave were out for the Packers' Week 12 win over the Lions, rookie Tucker Kraft started at tight end and played 96 percent of the offensive snaps while finishing with two catches for 15 yards and one touchdown. Kraft should be in line for an expanded role moving forward.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Sent to injured reserve

The Packers placed Musgrave (abdomen) on injured reserve Wednesday. Following Sunday's win over the Chargers, Musgrave was sent to the hospital after he suffering what the Packers termed as an abdominal injury in the team's Week 11 win. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Musgrave has since been diagnosed with a lacerated kidney, and after landing on IR, the rookie tight end will now be sidelined for at least the next four games. Musgrave's absence will pave the way for fellow rookie Tucker Kraft to move up the depth chart and step in as Green Bay's starting tight end beginning with Thursday's game against the Lions.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: On mend, won't play Thursday

Musgrave is recovering from a lacerated kidney and won't be able to travel to Detroit for Thursday's game against the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Though he played through injury in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Chargers and finished with four catches for 28 yards on six targets, Musgrave was hospitalized a day later for further observation. While Musgrave was discharged from the hospital Tuesday and is now resting at home and being monitored, his issue has been deemed serious enough that he won't be cleared to fly with the Packers to Detroit. Head coach Matt LaFleur merely said Tuesday that Musgrave's injury was "pretty significant," but the Packers aren't expected to officially rule the tight end out for Week 12 until after Wednesday's practice. While Musgrave is unavailable for the Packers' Thanksgiving Day game, fellow rookie Tucker Kraft is expected to step in as Green Bay's starting tight end.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Out of hospital

Musgrave (abdomen) was discharged from a Green Bay area hospital Tuesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. Musgrave seemingly emerged from Sunday's win over the Chargers unscathed, having posted four catches on six targets for 28 yards on a 63 percent snap share. However, coach Matt LaFleur revealed Tuesday that Musgrave reported an abdominal injury Monday and subsequently spent time in the hospital, per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The issue was deemed "pretty significant" by LaFleur, and he didn't rule out an IR stint for the rookie tight end. With Musgrave's status in doubt for Thursday's game at Detroit and Josiah Deguara (hip) not practicing this week, Tucker Kraft and Ben Sims figure to have larger roles in Week 12.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Hospitalized due to injury

Coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that Musgrave is in a Green Bay area hospital due to a "pretty serious" abdominal injury, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Musgrave managed to play 63 percent of the offensive snaps this past Sunday versus the Chargers on his way to four catches on six targets for 28 yards. According to LaFleur, Musgrave didn't mention the abdominal issue until Monday, and the fact that he's hospitalized two days before a game is a strong sign the rookie tight end will miss the first contest of his career Thursday at Detroit. Assuming he is inactive for that game, Tucker Kraft could assume the vast majority of TE reps for Green Bay with Josiah Deguara (hip) also listed as a non-participant on the practice reports Monday and Tuesday.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Tending to abdominal issue

Musgrave was listed on Monday's estimated practice report as a non-participant due to an abdominal injury. The Packers didn't hold a practice one day after their 23-20 win over the Chargers, but Musgrave would have sat out had the team taken the field. He played 46 of the Packers' 72 snaps on offense Sunday on his way to finishing with four catches for 28 yards on six targets, and no in-game reports suggested that he was nursing an injury. With the rookie tight end apparently nursing a health concern, however, his status will warrant attention heading into a Thursday matchup with the Lions in Week 12.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Draws six more targets

Musgrave was targeted six times and caught four passes for 28 yards in Sunday's 23-20 victory over the Chargers. A quiet afternoon in the box score could have been a rather loud one had quarterback Jordan Love connected with a streaking Musgrave on a likely long gain in the third quarter, but alas it was not meant to be. On the bright side, Musgrave drew his most targets in a game since Week 5, and Love set a career high for passing yards for the second week in a row. Musgrave caught just one pass when the Packers faced their next opponent, the Lions, in their first meeting of the year in Week 4, but he also left that game in the second quarter with a concussion. The rookie tight end is hardly a must-start in shallower fantasy leagues, but with Green Bay's passing offense trending upward and Musgrave drawing 14 targets over the last three games, his value is trending upward.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Sleeper TEs

Musgrave has a great matchup in Week 11 against the Chargers, who are No. 5 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends. Four tight ends in the past four games have scored at least 10.3 PPR points against the Chargers, including two touchdowns, and Musgrave has scored at least 8.4 PPR points in each of his past two games against the Rams and Steelers. Consider Musgrave a low-end starter in deeper leagues with his matchup against the Chargers.
