Player Outlook
Musgrave shouldn't be overlooked as an impact rookie considering the thin depth of the Packers receiving corps. The 6-foot-6, 253-pound tight end used his speed and huge hands to average 14.3 yards per catch over his final two seasons at Oregon State. His collegiate stats otherwise, combined with a high number of drops (four in his past two seasons, eight in his past three), suggest he's in need of some coaching. But the Round 2 investment and lack of veteran talent at tight end give Musgrave an easy path to the starting lineup and potentially a high number of targets. Musgrave could get attention at the end of seasonal drafts if preseason reports are glowing, but he's much more likely to be snatched by 30th overall in rookie-only drafts.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Ruled out against Lions

Musgrave (head) has been ruled out for the rest of Thursday's game against the Lions, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. Musgrave originally exited the game in the second quarter to be evaluated for a head injury and did not record a catch prior to his exit. Positively, he'll have plenty of time to clear the league's concussion protocol, as the Packers don't play again until Oct. 9. Tucker Kraft and Josiah Deguara have each seen an uptick in playing time with Musgrave sidelined.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Being evaluated for concussion

Musgrave left Thursday's game against the Lions to be evaluated for a concussion, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Musgrave exited in the second quarter and was initially evaluated in the medical tent before heading to the locker room. He failed to make a catch prior to his exit. Josiah Deguara should see an uptick in playing time so long as Musgrave is absent.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Sit Him (Lineup Decisions)

It's not a stretch to call Musgrave a top-15 Fantasy tight end, but it could be a stretch to say he's anything more than that. Even disappointing veterans like Kyle Pitts and Gerald Everett have a better outlook than Musgrave, especially in non-PPR. Having Aaron Jones back especially could swipe some volume away.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

The Lions are No. 1 in most Fantasy points allowed to tight ends despite giving up just one touchdown to the position this season. Four tight ends have already scored at least 8.7 PPR points against Detroit, and the Lions lead the NFL in receptions (25) and yards (263) allowed to the position. Musgrave just had his best game of the season in Week 3 against New Orleans with six catches for 49 yards on eight targets, and I hope he continues to stay involved with Christian Watson (hamstring) back. Consider Musgrave a borderline No. 1 tight end in Week 4.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Week 4 Streamers (TE Preview)

Musgrave is coming off of a season-high eight targets in Week 3 and now gets a fantastic matchup against the Lions on Thursday night. He's the only streaming option I rank as a starter this week, and if he has a good game in an island game, he won't be a streaming option any longer because he'll be rostered in too many leagues.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Week 4 Waiver Priority List

Musgrave just had his best game of the season in Week 3 against New Orleans with six catches for 49 yards on eight targets, and I hope he continues to improve as the season goes on. We'll see what happens in Green Bay once Christian Watson (hamstring) is healthy, but Jordan Love should still lean on Musgrave as a valuable weapon. He's worth adding in all leagues for 5 percent of your FAB heading into Week 4 against the Lions.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Week 3 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

We haven't seen the big breakout from Musgrave yet, but Sunday was the best game of his young career so far. With the Packers forced to throw 44 times, Musgrave earned a career-high eight targets, good for second on the team, catching six of them for 49 yards. The 8.2 yards per catch is pretty disappointing, but Musgrave was really close on a big play – potentially a long touchdown – that Love just overthrew him on. That's been a bit of a recurring theme through the first three games, as that duo has been just a bit off on a few deep throws that could have resulted in touchdowns. You have to think they'll get on the same page moving forward, and Musgrave has been involved enough in the offense that he's worth betting on even as things stand.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Leads team in catches

Musgrave caught six of eight targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 18-17 win over the Saints. Musgrave was Green Bay's lone source of offense for about three quarters, which ultimately saw him lead the team in receptions. Although his output could have been better had quarterback Jordan Love not missed him on a wide-open seam route during the first half, Musgrave has quickly offered the Packers a quality option at tight end while securing 11 of 15 targets thus far.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Week 3 Streamers (TE Preview)

Christian Watson was not at practice on Thursday so Musgrave should be third on the Packers in targets in Week 3. He's facing a good Saints pass defense but they'll be missing one of their starting safeties, which could open up the middle of the field. Njoku is the only starter I'm sitting for Musgrave.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: TEs to Sit

We'll see how Marcus Maye (suspension) being out impacts the Saints secondary, but I'm not starting Musgrave against this defense. New Orleans has allowed just three catches for 20 yards on five targets combined to Chigoziem Okonkwo and Hayden Hurst in the past two games, and the Saints were No. 1 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends in 2022. Musgrave is coming off a subpar game against the Falcons in Week 2 with just two catches for 25 yards on three targets, and it's hard to trust him in this matchup.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Limited to two receptions

Musgrave was targeted three times and caught two passes for 25 yards in Sunday's 25-24 loss to the Falcons. Musgrave was held in check, finishing with one fewer reception and half as many yards as he racked up in his Week 1 NFL debut. On the bright side, he was tied for third on the team in targets, and his snap percentage jumped from 75 percent to 88 percent. Without much depth behind him at tight end, expect Musgrave to remain busy.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Sleeper TEs

Musgrave should continue to be a go-to target for Jordan Love, even when Christian Watson (hamstring) is healthy. In his first NFL action in Week 1 at Chicago, Musgrave had three catches for 50 yards on four targets, and he should have caught a touchdown. Those will come, and Musgrave has plenty of appeal for Week 2 at Atlanta. The Falcons just struggled with Hayden Hurst in Week 1 for five catches, 41 yards and a touchdown on seven targets, and Musgrave should be considered a low-end starter in all leagues.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Start Him (Lineup Decisions)

It's too soon to call Musgrave an every-week must-start, but he's on the path to getting there for at least however long Christian Watson is sidelined. Even then, Musgrave could see four grabs per game and turn in 10 or 11 PPR points on average. He should beat that average this week; I like him ahead of Dalton Kincaid, Cole Kmet and Tyler Higbee.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Week 2 Streamers (TE Preview)

I loved Musgrave's usage, especially the downfield targets. In Week 2 he'll face a Falcons defense that just let Hayden Hurst into the end zone. I view Musgrave as more of a long play than a stream, but I am perfectly comfortable starting him this week, especially if Christian Watson remains out.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Contrarian DFS Play

Sticking with the theme of punting tight end, I like Musgrave's athleticism and matchup, but I like his $3,200 price tag on DraftKings more than either of them. Build an elite lineup around him and count his points as gravy.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Week 2 Waiver Priority List

Musgrave should continue to be a go-to target for Jordan Love moving forward, even when Christian Watson (hamstring) is healthy. In his first NFL action in Week 1 at Chicago, Musgrave had three catches for 50 yards on four targets, and he should have caught a touchdown. Those will come, and Musgrave has plenty of appeal for the rest of the season, including his matchup in Week 2 at Atlanta. He's worth adding as a stash candidate for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Long gain in win

Musgrave caught three of four targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 38-20 win over the Bears. Musgrave finished second on the Packers in receiving yards, with his NFL debut highlighted by a 37-yard gain to begin the fourth quarter. On that play, though, Musgrave was all alone and missed out on an easy touchdown while stumbling to make a relatively routine catch. With a missed connection on another open deep shot earlier, Musgrave's starting tight-end role could lend itself to decent value over the course of his rookie season.

  • Packers' Luke Musgrave: Comes up big on TD drive

Musgrave caught both of his targets for 15 yards in Saturday's 19-15 preseason win over Seattle. Both catches came from Jordan Love and went for first downs to help the Packers score a TD on their third series of the game against Seattle's second-string defense. Most of the Green Bay starters were removed thereafter, and it appears Musgrave will be the team's top pass catcher at the position heading into a Week 1 contest at Chicago. While unlikely to take on an every-down role right out of the gate, Musgrave has the size and speed to eventually handle large workloads that include both in-line blocking and downfield route running.
