Player Outlook
We're advising waiting until Round 9 in redraft to target Charbonnet, though to tell the truth it is a bit of a guessing game how Pete Carroll will employ his rookie alongside Kenneth Walker. It's not often a team uses a second-round pick on a running back in back-to-back years. Charbonnet showed better passing-game skills in college than Walker and is a bigger back, so it is entirely possible by the end of the year that the rookie is handling the majority of the high-value touches. Early in the year, we're expecting a 1A/1B situation, with Walker in the lead role. Charbonnet is worth a late first-round pick in one-quarterback rookie-only drafts but could fall to Round 2 in Superflex.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Six touches in overtime win

Charbonnet rushed four times for 16 yards and caught two passes on two targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 37-31 overtime win versus the Lions. Charbonnet was still the clear No. 2 back behind Kenneth Walker, who totaled 54 yards and two touchdowns on 18 touches. The rookie has showcased his punishing running style through the first two games, and his pass-catching ability will provide upside if he can push for more snaps. For the time being, it will be difficult to trust Charbonnet in fantasy as long as Walker is dominating the snap count.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Notches three touches

Charbonnet rushed three times for 11 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Rams. Kenneth Walker was the clear lead back with 12 carries for 64 yards while Charbonnet and DeeJay Dallas -- who produced 18 yards on three touches -- picked up the remaining backfield reps. Charbonnet was an effective pass-catcher in college, but he wasn't used at all in that capacity despite the lopsided outcome. It will be difficult to trust Charbonnet until he proves himself on the field. Next up, the Seahawks have a road matchup versus the Lions in Week 2.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Backup duties on tap

Charbonnet is listed as the No. 3 running back on the depth chart behind Kenneth Walker and DeeJay Dallas heading into Sunday's matchup versus the Rams. It's a little surprising that Charbonnet is listed behind Dallas, but we aren't reading into that too much. Dallas hasn't recorded more than 55 touches in a season through three years in the league, and he's mostly a passing-down back anyway. The Seahawks will make sure Charbonnet -- their second-round pick -- sees his share sooner than later. Still, it wouldn't be surprising if Dallas began the year ahead of Charbonnet in passing situations. However, Charbonnet may eventually take over that role while also challenging Walker for a chunk of the early down work.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Sleeper RBs

Kenneth Walker III is able to play despite dealing with a groin issue during Thursday's practice, and he should be the lead running back for the Seahawks this week. But Seattle might opt to ease Walker into action and lean more on Charbonnet, who had some positive moments in the preseason. I'm curious to see how this backfield split will work in Week 1 and all season, but I'd consider using Charbonnet as a flex option in deeper leagues. Seattle should be playing with a lead in this matchup, and there should be plenty of carries for Walker and Charbonnet to have success.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

With Kenneth Walker III back from the groin injury he suffered in training camp, he should be the lead running back for the Seahawks this week. But Seattle might opt to ease Walker back into action and lean more on Charbonnet, who had some positive moments in the preseason. I'm curious to see how this backfield split will work in Week 1 and all season, but I'd consider using Charbonnet as a flex option in deeper leagues. Seattle should be playing with a lead in this matchup, and there should be plenty of carries for Walker and Charbonnet to have success.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Makes brief appearance

Charbonnet took three carries for one yard and one catch for six yards in Saturday's preseason-closing loss to the Packers. Charbonnet got the start with the Seahawks resting most of their usual starters, including RB Kenneth Walker. The rookie Charbonnet was done for the day after taking four touches on the first two drives, giving way to DeeJay Dallas and then SaRodorick Thompson. Charbonnet played in all three games this preseason and took 10 carries for 45 yards, adding four catches for 21 yards on four targets. He should be the No. 2 back Week 1 against Los Angeles, though the extent of his role behind Walker is unclear.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Rips off long run Saturday

Charbonnet rushed three times for 31 yards and brought in his only target for one yard in the Seahawks' 22-14 preseason win over the Cowboys on Saturday night. The rookie second-round pick netted just two yards on his two carries during Seattle's opening possession, but he finished his night on the ground with a 29-yard scamper off right guard that took the ball to the Cowboys' 38-yard line on the next drive. In terms of the Seahawks' running backs, undrafted rookie SaRodorick Thompson was the only player to outpace Charbonnet in rushing yards on the night. Charbonnet continues to have the inside track to the No. 2 job behind Kenneth Walker heading into the preseason finale against the Packers next Saturday afternoon.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: In line to suit up Thursday

Charbonnet is slated to play in Thursday's preseason game versus the Vikings, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. While the Seahawks' No. 1 running back Kenneth Walker (groin) and 2023 seventh-round pick Kenny McIntosh (knee) won't suit up for the team's exhibition opener, Charbonnet will get some run Thursday after dealing with a shoulder issue in the early stages of training camp. However, Charbonnet has been able to put together a week of uninterrupted practices, allowing him to get his first game action in the NFL. Considering his status as a rookie second-rounder, though, he may not see much more than a series or two.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Misses practice again

Charbonnet didn't practice Sunday due to an undisclosed injury, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. Charbonnet has missed back-to-back practices after participating in the first two days of training camp, while Kenneth Walker has missed three straight sessions with an undisclosed issue, so fantasy managers should certainly be paying attention to Seattle's backfield before upcoming drafts. Head coach Pete Carroll may provide a clearer update following Sunday's practice, but if both running backs are sidelined, DeeJay Dallas, Kenny McIntosh, Bryant Koback and Wayne Taulapapa would all be candidates for more reps.
