  • Rams' Davis Allen: Ready to go

Allen (back) is active Sunday against the Bears.

Allen has been absent the last two weeks, but he was able to get on the practice field as a full participant Friday, paving the way for him to take the field Sunday. He should operate as the team's No. 2 tight end, behind Colby Parkinson.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Questionable versus Chicago

Allen (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Allen has missed the last two games but was upgraded to a full practice Friday after getting in limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday. If Allen is able to return against the Bears, it would likely push Hunter Long back to TE3 duties. Colby Parkinson has virtually been an every-down tight end for Los Angeles.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Limited to open week

Allen (back) was a limited participant at the Rams' practice Wednesday, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.

Allen was forced to miss the team's 27-24 win over the 49ers in Week 3 due to a back injury, but his ability to practice in any capacity Wednesday is a step in the right direction. The tight end will look to increase his workload at one of the team's two remaining practices this week prior to Sunday's matchup with the Bears.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Ruled out for Week 3

Allen (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against San Francisco, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Rams' No. 2 tight end will miss his second straight game. With Allen out last Sunday against the Cardinals, Colby Parkinson was essentially an every-down tight end before the starters were pulled late in the blowout loss. Hunter Long played 10 snaps mostly in mop-up duty and will be Parkinson's backup against the 49ers.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Still not practicing

Allen (back) did not practice Wednesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Allen missed practice all of last week due to a back issue and didn't suit up for Sunday's loss to Arizona. His absence from practice to begin this week isn't a promising sign for his chance of returning to action against San Francisco in Week 3, though he'll have two more days to get back on the field prior to the release of Friday's final injury report. If Allen can't suit up Sunday, Hunter Long is likely to continue to back up Colby Parkinson at tight end.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Officially out Week 2

Allen (back) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's Week 2 contest against the Cardinals, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.

Allen was originally deemed doubtful on Friday's final injury report, but his status was subsequently downgraded to out. The tight end is dealing with a back injury that kept him out of practice entirely throughout the week. Allen's upcoming absence Sunday will likely move Hunter Long into the Rams' No. 2 tight-end role behind Colby Parkinson.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Likely out Week 2

Allen (back) is listed as doubtful ahead of Sunday's contest against the Cardinals, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Allen was held out of practice all week due to a back issue, so it's no surprise that he likely won't be suiting up in Week 2. If the Clemson product misses Sunday's contest as expected, Hunter Long will likely serve as the Rams' No. 2 tight end behind Colby Parkinson.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Allen (back) didn't participate in the Rams' practice Wednesday, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.

Allen was added to the injury report Wednesday after failing to haul in his only target during the team's overtime loss to the Lions. If he ends up being unable to play versus the Cardinals on Sunday, Hunter Long will serve as Los Angeles' backup tight end.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Makes a pair of catches

Allen secured two of four targets for 11 yards during Saturday's 13-9 victory against the Chargers.

The second-year tight end out of Clemson was used sparingly in the contest, as were all of the Rams' tight ends. Colby Parkinson notably did not take the field for the second straight game, meaning he'll likely be the starter during Tyler Higbee's (knee) absence. Allen and Hunter Long are in a competition to be No. 2 on the depth chart at the start of the season, but Long has failed to bring in a target through two preseason games. The duo's final chance to make their case will come against the Texans in a preseason Week 3 tilt.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: Headed for No. 2 TE role

Allen appears to be ahead of Hunter Long in a competition for the No. 2 TE spot early in the season, according to Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire.

Longtime starter Tyler Higbee is expected to miss the early part of the season, at the very least, after suffering ACL and MCL tears in a playoff loss at Detroit. Free-agent signing Colby Parkinson is on track to take over as the starter, but it isn't clear if he'll play as many snaps as Higbee normally would, potentially opening the door for Allen to have a decent-sized role. The Rams typically don't use multi-TE formations often, so it's also possible Allen gets most of his snaps on special teams even with Higbee out. Either way, the 2023 fifth-round pick has a tricky path to fantasy relevance despite showing some nice flashes late last season when both Higbee and Long were briefly unavailable.

  • Rams' Davis Allen: May land larger role

Allen could be the Rams' No. 1 tight end when the season starts while Tyler Higbee recovers from a torn ACL and MCL, CCameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.

Allen appeared in 15 regular-season games during his rookie season, after he was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft. The Clemson product recorded 10 catches on 11 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown, all coming from Week 12 on, as Allen's role in the offense grew. Higbee does have a chance to be ready by the time the 2024 regular season kicks off, but if his recovery moves slowly, or he suffers any setbacks, Allen may have an opportunity to seize the top tight end role in the Rams offense.
