  • Commanders' Ricky Stromberg: Done for year

    Head coach Ron Rivera noted Monday that Stromberg (knee) is out for the rest of the 2023 season, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Prior to his injury, Stromberg appeared in four games and played 28 offensive snaps while operating as a depth offensive lineman. He sustained a knee injury in Week 8 against the Eagles on an extra-point attempt and he was placed on IR on Nov. 7. Rivera told reporters that Stromberg had surgery on the knee and is "progressing well."

    Stromberg (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports. The rookie offensive lineman out of Arkansas missed last week's contest after he suffered a knee injury during the Commanders' Week 8 loss to the Eagles, and he's since been placed on IR. Stromberg had appeared in only four games this season, playing a total of 28 snaps (26 on offense and two on special teams).

    Stromberg hurt his knee during Sunday's Week 8 game against Philadelphia and won't return to the contest, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Stromberg's injury occurred on an extra-point try in the first quarter. The lineman had to be helped off the field and wasn't able to put any weight on his right leg, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. Stromberg's absence will impact the Commanders' offensive line depth.
