Player Outlook
Smith had a breakout season in his sophomore campaign in 2022, and he should once again have a big year in his third season in the NFL. Smith is worth drafting in early Round 3 in all leagues. Last year, Smith set career highs in targets (136), catches (95), yards (1,196) and touchdowns (seven), and he's capable of replicating those stats again in 2023. He has plenty of competition for targets with A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert, but Smith should once again get plenty of attention from Jalen Hurts. And, considering the history of third-year receivers with Smith's pedigree, he might even post better stats in 2023 given his upside in this offense.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Productive in win over Washington

Smith caught seven of nine targets for 78 yards in Sunday's 34-31 overtime win over the Commanders. A.J. Brown was the receiving star for Philly with two long TDs en route to 175 yards, but Smith posted strong numbers of his own as he continues to show excellent chemistry with Jalen Hurts. Smith has caught at least four passes in every game so far this season, and he could be busy again in a possible Week 5 barnburner against the Rams.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Good to go

Smith (illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Washington. As expected, following his Friday return to practice after missing one day. Smith was a limited participant to close out the week but should be ready for a full workload come Sunday.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Returns from illness

Smith (illness) is practicing Friday, Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The quick return after one missed practice suggests Smith isn't dealing with a serious illness and will be ready for Sunday's game against Washington. He may even avoid a designation on the final injury report Friday afternoon.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Comes down with illness

Smith didn't practice Thursday due to an illness. Fortunately for Smith, he's come down with an illness in the middle of the week, giving him a few days to get back to normal before the Eagles' upcoming matchup with the Commanders on Sunday. His status for Week 4 may gain some clarity when Friday's practice report is posted, but if he ends up limited or sidelined this weekend, the likes of Quez Watkins (hamstring), Olamide Zaccheaus and Britain Covey (hamstring) could see increased reps on offense behind top wide receiver A.J. Brown.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Limited in practice again

Smith (hamstring/thigh) was a limited practice participant Friday. Smith should be able to play Monday in Tampa Bay even if he's limited for a third straight time when the Eagles release their final injury report Saturday. The team would be awfully thin at wide receiver in the event of a weekend setback, as No. 3 man Quez Watkins (hamstring) already appears highly likely to miss MNF.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Dealing with pair of injuries

Smith was limited at Thursday's practice due to hamstring and thigh injuries. Smith has been clicking with quarterback Jalen Hurts through the first two contests of the season, notching 11 catches (on 15 targets) for 178 yards and two touchdowns while playing 140 of 141 offensive snaps. Now, though, Smith made an appearance on the Eagles' first Week 3 injury report. He'll thus have two more opportunities to log a full session before the Eagles potentially hand him a designation for Monday's contest at Tampa Bay.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Tallies touchdown in opener

Smith recorded seven receptions on 10 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Patriots. Smith matched A.J. Brown in targets and receptions, though he wound up with 32 fewer yards. He made up for that gap in production with a five-yard touchdown reception late in the first quarter, though ultimately the entire Philadelphia offense was held back by rainy conditions in Foxboro. The Eagles should find more offensive success in a Week 2 matchup against the Vikings, benefitting Smith and the rest of the skill-position players.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Not slated to play Saturday

Smith isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason contest at Baltimore, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Both Smith and A.J. Brown aren't available to the Eagles offense, leaving wide receiver in the hands of Quez Watkins, Olamide Zaccheaus and Devon Allen, among others. Smith's next chance for exhibition action will occur this coming Thursday against the Browns.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Excelling this summer

Smith has been busy and effective at training camp, catching 11 of 14 targets through five full-team practices, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports. It sounds like the Eagles are getting their RBs a bit more involved in the passing game, particularly new addition D'Andre Swift, but the reports coming out of Philadelphia otherwise have Smith, A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert predictably dominating targets from QB Jalen Hurts. Those three accounted for 77.7 percent of the team's receiving yards and 69.3 percent of the targets last season, with Smith's shares coming in at 27.4 percent and 26.9 percent, respectively. There's probably not a ton of room for growth beyond 26.9 percent target share so long as Brown and Goedert enjoy relatively healthy seasons, but Smith could nonetheless match or exceed last year's stats if he improves his already-strong efficiency numbers (69.9 percent catch rate, 8.8 YPT). That certainly isn't out of the question, given he's an extremely talented 24-year-old entering his third pro season while playing in an elite offense.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Seven grabs in Sunday's win

Smith caught seven of eight targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Giants. The second-year wideout led the Eagles in receptions in Jalen Hurts' return from a shoulder strain, as the team locked up the top seed in the NFC and a first-round bye. Smith finishes the regular season with 95 catches on 136 targets for 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns, and with Hurts getting another week to heal up, he and A.J. Brown could be headed for very big postseasons.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Over 100 yards in Week 15 win

Smith caught five of eight targets for 126 yards in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Bears. Smith's 45-yard reception in the second quarter set up a field goal, and he added a 38-yard catch in the two-minute drill to go over the 100-yard mark in the first half. A.J. Brown took over after halftime and finished with a team-leading 181 receiving yards, as the pair of productive wideouts accounted for 307 of Jalen Hurts' 315 passing yards. After topping 100 receiving yards only thrice in his first 28 NFL games, Smith has done so in two of the past three. The 2021 first-round pick is blossoming into a force to be reckoned with heading into a Week 16 trip to Dallas.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: WRs to Start

Smith had another quality outing in Week 13 against the Titans with five catches for 102 yards and a touchdown on eight targets, and he continues to play well while Dallas Goedert (shoulder) is out. Including the game when Goedert got hurt in Week 10 against Washington, Smith has at least eight targets in each outing, and he scored at least 13 PPR points in three of those games, with two touchdowns. The Giants have struggled against opposing receivers of late, allowing 72 catches for 843 yards and five touchdowns in their past five games against Seattle, Houston, Detroit, Dallas and Washington. Over that span, eight receivers have scored at least 14 PPR points, which bodes well for A.J. Brown and Smith in Week 14. Smith also had five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in his last meeting with the Giants in 2021.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Tops 100 yards, scores

Smith recorded five receptions on eight targets for 102 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-10 win over the Titans. Smith recorded three receptions of at least 20 yards to top the century mark for the second time on the campaign. He also chipped in his fourth receiving touchdown of the season on a 34-yard reception only three minutes into the game. Smith has been out-performed by teammate A.J. Brown for much of the season, though he's still on pace to surpass the production from his rookie campaign in nearly every metric heading into a Week 14 matchup against the Giants.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Cleared to play

Smith (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans. Smith upgraded to full participation Friday after back-to-back limited practices. He's seen eight or more targets in three straight games and is only seven behind A.J. Brown for the team lead this season (86-79), but Brown has a much larger share of the deep passes and red-zone looks, while Smith has gotten far more of his targets near the line of scrimmage than he did last season. In any case, both get a decent matchup this week, as Brown's former team has given up the third most PPR points to wide receivers despite playing solid defense on the whole.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Flex Starter (Lineup Decisions)

If you've been starting Smith, you deserve a hug. Then, get ready to consider starting him again. His target volume remains attractive, and a tough matchup ahead for the Eagles running game could put more numbers in Smith's future. It's juuust enough to keep him in as at least a high-upside flex. I'd start him over Courtland Sutton, Michael Pittman and Zay Jones.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Start Him in Non-PPR (Lineup Decisions)

What would happen with the Eagles pass game after losing Dallas Goedert was on the top of my mind heading into their Week 11 and we got the answer immediately -- a concentrated target share with Smith and A.J. Brown. That target share could easily grow to over 60% of the targets in Week 12 and Smith's share will grow with it. Smith checks in as a WR2 for Dave even in Non-PPR where he would start him over Chris Olave, Josh Palmer and George Pickens.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Limited by knee injury

Smith (knee) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice report. Smith tended to a knee injury last week, so the cap on his reps this week may be maintenance-related to keep him as close to 100 percent as possible. Meanwhile, fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown was a DNP on Thursday due to an illness, a reality that could bump up Smith to No. 1 on the WR depth chart for the Eagles if the former is limited or sidelined this weekend. In the end, Friday's report may clarify the statuses of both Brown and Smith for Sunday's game versus the Packers.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Leads team in receiving yardage

Smith caught six passes for 78 yards on nine targets against Indianapolis on Sunday. Smith seemed to draw more usage than usual with Dallas Goedert out and A.J. Brown (seven targets) drawing most of the defensive attention. The resulting box score isn't overly impressive at a glance, but it was a crucial contribution to the Eagles offense on a day where Jalen Hurts threw for only 190 yards on 25 attempts. Smith should continue to see escalated target shares while Goedert misses time, and a big game could result if Hurts' passing yardage volume exceeds the figure from this game. A Week 12 matchup with Green Bay could be a productive one for Smith.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Limited again Thursday

Smith (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday. Smith logged a second consecutive capped session to begin Week 11 prep, as did fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown (ankle). There's been no indication that Smith is in danger of sitting out Sunday at Indianapolis due to a knee issue, but Friday's injury report may provide a clearer picture of his upcoming availability.

  • Eagles' DeVonta Smith: Dealing with knee injury

Smith was limited at Wednesday's walk-through practice due to a knee issue. Playing alongside a hobbled A.J. Brown (ankle) on Monday versus the Commanders, Smith had his most productive performance in weeks (6-39-1 receiving line on eight targets). However, Smith is now tending to an injury of his own. As such, the statuses of both wide receivers should be watched as the week goes on to get a sense of their availability for Sunday's contest at Indianapolis.
