  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Accepts pay cut

Patrick (Achilles) and the Broncos have an agreement to alter his contract for 2024, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. The first two seasons of Patrick's three-year, $30 million contract were wiped out by severe injuries during training camp -- an ACL tear in 2022 and then a torn Achilles' tendon in 2023. He's now 30 years old and entering the final year of the extension, so he presumably would've been released if he hadn't agreed to lower his $9.5 million base salary for 2024. While never a high-volume pass catcher, Patrick had 742 yards and six TDs on 79 targets in 2020 (64.6 percent catch rate, 14.5 YPC, 9.4 YPT), followed by 734 yards and five TDs on 85 targets in 2021 (62.4 percent, 13.8 YPC, 8.6 YPT).

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Possible cap casualty

Patrick (Achilles) is a strong candidate to be released this offseason, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. Patrick has twice suffered season-ending injuries in training camp since signing a three-year, $30 million contract in Nov. 2021. He's now entering the final year of the deal and the 30-year-old has a non-guaranteed $9.5 million base salary for 2024. It is possible Patrick accepts a pay cut to stay in Denver and attempt his return from the torn Achilles tendon he suffered in August.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Lands on IR

The Broncos placed Patrick (Achilles) on injured reserve Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports. Patrick is set to miss a second consecutive season after he suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in Monday's practice. With Denver also waiving KJ Hamler with a non-football illness designation Monday, 2023 second-round draft pick Marvin Mims should handle an expanded role in the team's passing offense alongside top wideouts Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Achilles tear confirmed

Coach Sean Payton confirmed Tuesday that Patrick sustained a torn Achilles on Monday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. The 29-year-old wideout will miss a second consecutive season after an ACL tear last summer wiped out his 2022 campaign. Patrick will try to make it back next year for the final season of the three-year, $30 million contract extension he signed in 2021.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Reportedly tears Achilles

An MRI reportedly revealed that Patrick suffered a complete tear of his Achilles on Monday, according to Mike Klis of 9News Denver. Assuming Klis' report is confirmed, Patrick would be in line to miss the coming season, a context that represents a major hit to a Denver pass-catching corps that will also be without KJ Hamler (pectoral), who was waived with a non-football illness designation Monday. The duo's looming absence paves the way for 2023 second-rounder Marvin Mims to assume an expanded role alongside the team's top wideouts, Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Torn Achilles feared

Patrick likely sustained a torn left Achilles during Monday's practice, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. At nearly the same point of the training-camp schedule last year, Patrick tore the ACL in his right knee, which required surgery shortly thereafter. He was able to run routes by the spring and participate in team drills during mandatory minicamp in June, but the injury bug bit him again Monday, when he was carted off the field following a non-contact injury. With Patrick poised to miss a second straight season, the Broncos will turn to some combination of KJ Hamler (pectoral), Marvin Mims (hamstring), Marquez Callaway and Kendall Hinton behind the top WR duo of Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Getting MRI on Achilles injury

Patrick is being evaluated for a left Achilles injury and is scheduled to get an MRI after exiting practice Monday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Patrick was carted off after suffering a non-contact injury Monday and needed crutches to get around the facility. Initial testing revealed an Achilles injury, and the MRI results should determine its severity. This could be the second straight year that Patrick has suffered a significant injury in training camp, as he missed the entire 2022 season after tearing the ACL in his right knee.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Participated in team drills at OTAs

Patrick (knee) participated in full team drills at OTAs and minicamp, The Athletic's Nick Kosmider reports. Patrick tore his ACL early in training camp last year and missed the entirety of the 2022 season. He now seems to be at, or near, 100 percent and should continue to be full go ahead for camp next month. Patrick is expected to be a fixture in three-wide sets for the Broncos alongside Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. Patrick and Russell Wilson had developed a noticeable chemistry last offseason prior to the receiver's season-ending injury. It will be interesting to see how targets are distributed this year.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Recovery on track

Broncos head coach George Paton said Tuesday that Patrick (knee) will be 100 percent for the start of the 2023 campaign, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Patrick suffered a torn ACL during an August practice last year and underwent season-ending surgery before the 2022 campaign began. However, the undrafted wideout out of Utah has made significant strides in his rehab and is currently able to do some running. Patrick still has a few hurdles to clear before he's completely out of the rehab stage, but it appears Russell Wilson will have one of his top wideouts back in the fold to start 2023, which could go a long way in helping the Broncos' offense bounce back after a poor first season with Wilson in town.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Undergoes knee surgery

Patrick underwent surgery Monday to repair his torn ACL, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. The surgery was deemed a success, and Patrick now faces a long recovery period that should have him on track to be fully recovered around the start of OTAs in 2023. The lost season is a disappointment for the reliable wideout with the Broncos offense projected to take a major step forward with Russell Wilson at quarterback. In his absence, Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler can expect to see even more opportunities in Denver's new look passing attack.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Suffers torn ACL

Patrick suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday's practice, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. With Patrick now in line to miss the 2022 season, KJ Hamler -- who's bouncing back from a knee injury of his own -- is a candidate to see added pass-catching opportunities behind Denver's top wideout duo of Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Getting MRI after knee injury

Patrick is scheduled for an MRI on his knee after leaving practice early Tuesday morning, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Patrick was carted off the field and didn't put any weight on his right leg. Coach Nathaniel Hackett confirmed after practice that the 6-foot-4 wideout is being evaluated for a knee injury. Fellow receiver KJ Hamler was just activated from the PUP list nearly 11 months after suffering a knee injury of his own and figures to see a bigger role if Patrick misses significant time, something Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports is a possibility.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Carted off field Tuesday

Patrick was carted off the field Tuesday after suffering a possible knee injury, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Per Mike Klis of 9News Denver, Patrick wasn't putting weight on his right leg as he was helped into the trainer's room. If the wideout is forced to miss time, added opportunities would presumably be available for KJ Hamler, who is bouncing back from a knee injury of his own but was activated from the active/PUP list Monday.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Restructures contract with Denver

The Broncos converted $6.9 million of Patrick's roster bonus to a signing bonus Friday to create roughly $4.6 million in salary cap space, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Patrick's restructured deal comes just four months after he signed a three-year, $29.25 million contract with the Broncos in November. The additional salary cap room will allow Denver to remain active as the team looks to improve the roster heading into next season. The veteran wideout caught 53 of 85 targets for 734 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games last season. The acquisition of Russell Wilson at quarterback marks a significant upgrade at the position and should provide Patrick the opportunity to take a step forward in the offense in 2022.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Paces pass catchers in loss

Patrick brought in six of 10 targets for 95 yards in the Broncos' 28-24 loss to the Chiefs on Saturday. Patrick made a remarkable return from a one-game absence on the COVID-19 list, leading the Broncos in receptions, receiving yards and targets. The strong effort was a strong turnaround for Patrick in what had been a lackluster second half of the season, and his production allowed him to set a new career high in receptions (53) while falling just eight yards short of the career-best 742 receiving yards he'd recorded in 2020. Patrick now has consecutive 50-plus-catch campaigns, but he'll likely have to battle KJ Hamler (IR-knee) for the No. 3 receiver role in 2022.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Not available Week 17

Head coach Vic Fangio said that Patrick (illness) and none of the other Denver players who were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list since Tuesday will be available for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Among the 14 players currently on the COVID-19 list, Fangio is leaving the door open for only linebacker Andre Mintze and defensive lineman Mike Purcell -- who were deactivated Monday -- to return this weekend. Patrick is among the 12 other Denver players who will sit out Week 17 due to virus-related protocols, along with fellow wideout Jerry Jeudy. With Patrick and Jeudy sidelined and Courtland Sutton (illness) listed as questionable but at risk of sitting out Sunday, Denver could be down to Kendall Hinton, Diontae Spencer and practice-squad call-ups Travis Fulgham and Seth Williams as its options at receiver this weekend.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Placed on COVID list, likely out

Patrick (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday and isn't expected to play this Sunday against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official website reports. Assuming Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy make it through the week healthy, the Broncos have Diontae Spencer and Kendall Hinton as options for the No. 3 receiver role. The possibility also exists that Denver hands more playing time to talented backup tight end Albert Okwuegbunam behind starter Noah Fant. Patrick might technically have a shot to return by Sunday, but Broncos head coach Vic Fangio doesn't expect that to happen.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Can't produce with four targets

Patrick caught two of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 17-13 loss to the Raiders. Patrick had a rough game, much like most of the Denver pass catchers. With Drew Lock under center, the team struggled to move the ball through the air and on the ground. The veteran wideout has continued to see steady playing time throughout the season, but his healthy snap counts haven't translated to consistent fantasy production. Regardless of whether Lock or Teddy Bridgewater (concussion) is starting at quarterback Week 17 against the Chargers, Patrick won't make for an appealing option.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Finds end zone in loss

Patrick caught three of four targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Bengals. Patrick's 25-yard touchdown grab on a pass from Drew Lock was the Broncos' only trip to the end zone against the Bengals. With the score, the veteran wideout now has five touchdowns on the season. The Broncos passing game has struggled throughout the year, but Patrick's usage is encouraging. He has seen five targets in his last three games, and in Week 15, played on 94 percent of Denver's offensive snaps. With that said, there's a strong chance that the Broncos' struggles through the air will continue with Lock likely under center for a Week 16 matchup against the Raiders. Patrick will be difficult to trust in a pivotal week for fantasy.

  • Broncos' Tim Patrick: Two grabs in win

Patrick secured two of five targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Lions. Patrick has done little over the past four games in the Broncos underwhelming passing attack, averaging two catches and roughly 17 yards over that stretch. It will be very difficult to rely on him in the fantasy playoffs, even in deep leagues, as the Denver passing offense continues to underwhelm. Patrick and the Broncos get a matchup against the Bengals in Week 15.
