The Jaguars signed McCourt to a reserve/future contract Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
McCourt signed with the Jaguars' practice squad after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster to begin the season. The undrafted kicker out of Illinois never made any appearances during his rookie campaign, but with his new contract, he'll be able to stick around the organization and compete for a larger role during the offseason.... The Jaguars claimed McCourt off waivers from the Chargers on Tuesday, Hays Carlyon of 1010 AM WJXL Jacksonville reports.
McCourt was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois in April, but he was unable to beat out incumbent starter Dustin Hopkins for the kicking job this offseason. However, McCourt quickly found a new opportunity and actually finds himself as the No. 1 guy in Jacksonville after the Jaguars waived Ryan Santoso on Tuesday.
