Player Outlook
Jennings is a good football player who is unlikely to make a Fantasy impact due to the glut of talent in San Francisco. Leave him on the waiver wire in all but the deepest of leagues; he may need multiple injuries to be Fantasy relevant.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Logs 24 snaps on offense

Jennings finished with one reception for seven yards while being targeted twice in Thursday's 31-13 win over Seattle. Jennings received his usual allotment of snaps as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout, but there wasn't much work left for him after a trio of teammates combined for four touchdowns Thursday. The 26-year-old has just two catches over his last three games, which is primarily the result of San Francisco getting healthy on offense following its bye. Jennings' role should remain constant in Week 13 when the 49ers face the Eagles on Dec. 3.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: No catches Sunday

Jennings failed to bring in his lone target in Sunday's 27-14 win over Tampa Bay. Jennings was on the field for 33 percent of the 49ers' offensive plays Sunday, but he still went catch-less for the third time this year. San Francisco has been leaning on its top talent to reignite the team with two convincing wins coming out of the bye week. Unfortunately for Jennings, that has meant little work for he and the rest of the 49ers' role players. The 26-year-old has recorded just one reception over his last three games, which should keep him off of most fantasy radars heading into Thursday's matchup against the Seahawks.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Little usage as stars carry offense

Jennings was on the field for 18 offensive snaps (29 percent) against Jacksonville on Sunday, finishing with one reception on two targets for eight yards in a 34-3 win. Deebo Samuel (shoulder) returned from injury following San Francisco's Week 9 bye, pushing Jennings back into his regular spot on the depth chart. The 26-year-old was coming off a zero-target game in Week 8, so Sunday's paltry receiving line was technically a step forward. With the 49ers returning to full strength on offense and getting back in the win column, Jennings would likely need another injury to crack the starting lineup again this season. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect more than a handful of targets for the third-year wideout against the Buccaneers next Sunday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Not targeted in spot-start

Jennings was in the starting lineup in place of Deebo Samuel (shoulder) on Sunday, but he was not targeted in a 31-17 loss to the Bengals. Jennings finished with no targets, despite being on the field for 50 of San Francisco's offensive snaps (85 percent) for the team's third loss in as many weeks. He wound up playing a larger share of snaps compared to last week's spot start, when he produced his best line of the season (5-54-0). With the 49ers entering a bye in Week 9, there is a good possibility Samuel could return to the starting lineup against the Jaguars on Sunday, Nov. 12. If that happens, Jennings would slide back to his usual slot role when San Francisco returns to action.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Finishes second in receiving Sunday

Jennings caught two of four targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Browns. Jennings finished as San Francisco's second leading receiver behind Brandon Aiyuk (4-76-0) after Deebo Samuel (shoulder) was forced out after playing just nine snaps Sunday. Jennings didn't see his snap count rise (35 offensive snaps), as Samuel's role was instead filled by the team's No. 4 option Ray-Ray McCloud (44 offensive snaps). A similar scenario unfolded when Aiyuk had to sit out a game earlier this season, confirming that Jennings is unlikely to move above or below his current slot position this season. So, even if Deebo is forced to miss next Monday's tilt against Minnesota, its safe to say that Jennings' role on offense will remain unchanged.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Ready for Week 5

Jennings (shin) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Jennings has a brighter outlook for Week 5 than he had Week 4, when he was listed as doubtful prior to being inactive this past Sunday against the Cardinals. After logging limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, he now has been cleared for game action again. Having said that, Deebo Samuel (knee/ribs) will be available, too, so Jennings will only be the 49ers' third WR behind Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk this weekend. In the first three games of the campaign, Jennings reeled in four of seven targets for 82 yards and no touchdowns.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Limited again Thursday

Jennings (shin) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. After not practicing at all last week ahead of a Week 4 absence, Jennings now has a pair of capped sessions under his belt this week. Fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel (knee/ribs) has operated under the same regimen, so Friday's practice and subsequent injury report will be key to determining the status of the pair ahead of Sunday's showdown with the Cowboys.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Returns to practice

Jennings (shin) will be a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Jennings didn't practice last week and ultimately missed Sunday's win over Arizona. The Niners didn't have any receivers besides Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel clear a 24 percent snap share in the contest, instead leaning on fullback Kyle Juszczyk (65 percent snap) a bit more than usual. Jennings will have a tough matchup with the Dallas defense if he's ready for Sunday's marquee showdown.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Unlikely to play Sunday

Jennings (shin) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Barring dramatic improvement leading up to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, Jennings will miss his first game of the season after he sat out all three of the 49ers' practices this week due to the shin injury. Jennings' likely absence should open up more reps at receiver for Ronnie Bell and Ray-Ray McCloud. Both Bell and McCloud could be primed for even larger roles if top wideout Deebo Samuel (knee/ribs) -- who is listed as questionable -- isn't cleared to play.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Dealing with shin injury

Jennings was held out of Wednesday's practice due to a shin injury, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Even tough Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) didn't play last Thursday against the Giants, Jennings didn't experience an appreciable jump in playing time and matched his season high in targets with three, which he turned into two catches for 31 yards. As the 49ers kick off Week 4 prep, Jennings and Deebo Samuel (ribs/knee) were sidelined, while Aiyuk was a limited participant. With the team's top three wide receivers all battling injuries to some extent, the position group will be one to watch as Sunday's game against the Cardinals approaches.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Gains 31 yards on TNF

Jennings caught two of three targets for 31 yards in Thursday's 30-12 win over the Giants. It was Ray-Ray McCloud who started in place of Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) on Thursday, which kept Jennings in the No. 3 role. The former was not targeted on offense, while Jennings saw his usual allotment of targets and playing time (31 offensive snaps). It wound up being seventh-round rookie Ronnie Bell (2-24-1) who would cash in a score in Aiyuk's absence. It became clear that San Francisco's coaching staff values Jennings in his current role, limiting any potential fantasy upside ahead of a Week 4 matchup against Arizona.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: More snaps await Thursday

Jennings is expected to be in line for more playing time in Thursday's game with Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) inactive for the contest, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Receiver Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey are likely to rank as the top priorities in the Niners passing game Week 3, but the absence of Aiyuk at least opens up more opportunities for Jennings and Ronnie Bell to play alongside Samuel in two- and three-wide sets. While serving as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout in the first two games of the season, Jennings has handled 33 percent and 48 percent snap shares between Weeks 1 and 2 while accruing a 2-51-0 receiving line on four targets.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Gains 51 yards in win

Jennings had two receptions (on three targets) for 51 yards in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Rams. Jennings finished second in receiving yards for the 49ers after being held catch-less Week 1. The 26-year-old made a key play on one of his two receptions when he wrestled the ball away from his defender, turning the play into a 31-yard gain instead of an interception for quarterback Brock Purdy. Despite his strong play Sunday, Jennings is unlikely to see enough targets to warrant consideration outside of deeper formats against the Giants on Thursday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Filled slot role in 2022

Jennings finished with 35 receptions (56 targets) for 416 yards and a touchdown in 16 regular-season games with San Francisco this season. Jennings saw his offensive usage rise as the 49ers' slot receiver in his sophomore campaign. However, the 6-foot-3 wideout was unable to break through as a fantasy asset due to a lack of touchdowns. Jennings is scheduled to become a free agent this upcoming offseason, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him stay in San Francisco after carving out a solid role this year.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Ready for divisional round

Jennings (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's divisional-round game versus the Cowboys, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Jennings operated under practice restrictions Wednesday and Thursday due to an ankle injury, but it won't impact his ability to suit up for the second round of the playoffs. With Deebo Samuel available the last two games, Jennings has moved back to a complementary role behind Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, gathering in three of seven targets for 51 yards during that span.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Will be limited Wednesday

Jennings (ankle) will be a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Jennings tweaked his ankle during the 49ers' wild-card win over Seattle this past weekend and was deemed day-to-day by head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but it's a positive sign to see him at least get some work in during Wednesday's practice. Jennings will have two more opportunities to log a full session before San Francisco needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's wild-card matchup against Dallas.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Dealing with ankle injury

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Jennings is day-to-day with an ankle injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. It's unclear exactly when Jennings tweaked his ankle during the 49ers' wild-card win over Seattle on Saturday, but he finished the contest with two receptions on five targets for 41 yards across 26 offensive snaps. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but it's a concerning development for the third-year wideout, who caught 35 of 56 targets for 416 yards and a score across 16 regular-season appearances.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Disappoints in start

Jennings had two receptions (three targets) for 21 yards in Saturday's 37-20 win over Washington. Jennings received another start in place of the injured Deebo Samuel (knee/ankle), logging 46 offensive snaps (88 percent) and finishing third in team targets. The 25-year-old did not experience an increase in production despite seeing his regular snap count double in these two starts. Samuel's earliest timetable could have him returning ahead of a Week 17 matchup against the Raiders. If he is not ready to return, Jennings would garner another start -- with limited upside -- on New Year's Day.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Role could increase in Week 15

Jennings played 20 offensive snaps (34 percent) and finished with one catch (two targets) for five yards in Sunday's 35-7 win over the Buccaneers. Jennings turned in one of his worst performances in rookie Brock Purdy's first career start. It's hard to recommend a player after a poor outing, but the 49ers may be without the services of Deebo Samuel (knee/ankle) for the immediate future, opening the door for Jennings to potentially start alongside Brandon Aiyuk. Assuming that holds true, the 25-year-old could generate some deep-league value against the Seahawks on Thursday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Scores first TD of 2022

Jennings caught six of seven targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 13-0 win over the Saints. Jennings scored his first touchdown of the 2022 campaign in unusual fashion Sunday. Jimmy Garoppolo was targeting his tallest wideout in the back corner of the end zone, but Tyrann Mathieu deflected the ball and Jennings was there to catch it as he was falling from his initial leaping attempt. The end result was a strong fantasy line from the 49ers' No. 3 receiver, who was coming off of a catch-less outing against the Cardinals in Week 11. Jennings played his usual allotment of offensive snaps (41 percent), so fantasy managers shouldn't expect a repeat performance against the Dolphins on Sunday.
