Bills' Taron Johnson: Earns three-year extension
The Bills signed Johnson to a three-year extension Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Johnson's new deal reportedly makes him the NFL's highest-paid nickelback, a deserved payday for the All-Pro. While appearing in all 17 regular-season games last year, he posted a career-high 98 total tackles. Johnson's versatility and ability to contribute as arguably the NFL's best nickel corner makes him instrumental for Buffalo's secondary, but for fantasy purposes he's a player to consider in lineups while not projecting as a must-start option in most IDP formats.

Bills' Taron Johnson: Career-best tackle total
Johnson played in all 17 regular-season games for the Bills in 2023, posting 98 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, eight passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Johnson failed to record an interception for the first time since the 2019 season, but that's splitting hairs when you consider the compilation of other stats as well as the career-high tackle total. He finished in the top 10 among cornerbacks in most scoring systems, and his versatility (he can play cornerback or safety as well as cover the slot) has proven key for a Buffalo defense that finished fourth in points allowed and ninth in yards allowed this season.

Johnson (concussion) is active for Sunday's divisional-round matchup against the Chiefs.
Johnson was able to clear the league's concussion protocols earlier Sunday, paving the way for him to take the field for Buffalo's divisional-round clash with Kansas City. He should draw the start opposite Rasul Douglas, who's active despite a knee injury, at cornerback.

Johnson has cleared the league's concussion protocol and is expected to play in Sunday's divisional-round game versus the Chiefs, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Johnson's status won't become official until the Bills reveal their inactives list at 5:00 p.m. ET. The All-Pro nickel cornerback will be a key part of slowing down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Sunday's home game if he does get the green light.

Johnson (concussion) was listed as limited in Wednesday's walk-through practice.
Coach Sean McDermott revealed that Johnson is progressing through concussion protocol, indicating that he was determined to have suffered a concussion after being evaluated for a head injury during Monday's 31-17 wild-card round win over the Steelers. Johnson will need to gain clearance from an independent neurotrauma consultant in order to clear the protocol and have a chance to play in the divisional round Sunday against the Chiefs, but his presence at practice Wednesday was encouraging.
