Player Outlook
Woods couldn't find Fantasy relevancy in 2022, totaling just 527 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 53 receptions despite playing in all 17 games and finishing as a WR2 just twice. While his target volume could improve in Houston with the Texans likely to be more pass happy than the 2022 Titans, he has more competition for target share with John Metchie, Nico Collins and Tank Dell all in the mix. Woods should be left undrafted in all but the deepest PPR leagues, but could be worth scooping off your waiver wire if rookie QB C.J. Stroud leans on him early.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Week 4 Adds (WR Preview)

It's slim pickings on the wide receiver waiver wire now that Tank Dell and Justin Palmer have been scooped up. Dell's teammate Robert Woods has at least 12 PPR Fantasy points in two of three games. While he doesn't have much upside, his targets alone mean he should be rostered in more than 17% of leagues. In a three-receiver league with a flex, he's a good PPR flex.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Targeted six times

Woods caught three of six targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 37-17 win over Jacksonville. Woods and Nico Collins took a back seat to rookie Tank Dell, who led Houston wideouts with five catches on seven targets for 145 yards and a touchdown. Over the first two weeks, it was Woods and Collins pacing the wide receivers, but it looks like Dell is in position to overtake them. Woods, remains the target leader with 25 through three games, followed by Collins (23) and then the surging Dell (21).

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Week 3 Waiver Priority List

The Texans receiving corps is off to a good start through two games. Nico Collins has been a breakout candidate, and Dell and Woods and have been useful for Fantasy managers as well. Dell got a boost in Week 2 with Noah Brown (groin) placed on injured reserve, and Dell played well against the Colts with seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. He's worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver in Week 3 at Jacksonville. Woods has been a good PPR receiver through two outings with 12 catches for 131 yards on 19 targets, and he's a potential starter in deeper PPR formats against the Jaguars. Dell is worth adding for 5-10 percent of your remaining FAB, and Woods is worth adding for up to 5 percent.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Another solid output in loss

Woods secured six of nine targets for 74 yards in the Texans' 31-20 loss to the Colts on Sunday. The veteran wideout served as a security blanket for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, finishing tied for second in targets while sharing the team lead in receptions. Woods has quickly amassed a 12-131 line through two games, and he'll again be a solid option in all formats during a Week 3 road matchup against the Jaguars during which the Texans could well be down by a sizable margin in the second half.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Week 2 Waiver Priority List

Woods isn't an exciting Fantasy option at this point in his career, but he could be a cheap starter in deep PPR leagues given his role for the Texans. In Week 1 at Baltimore, Woods had six catches for 57 yards on 10 targets, and he should be the No. 2 receiver for C.J. Stroud behind Nico Collins. In deeper formats, Woods is worth adding for 1 percent of your FAB heading into Week 2 against the Colts.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Strong showing in Texans debut

Woods brought in six of 10 targets for 57 yards and returned one punt for 10 yards in the Texans' 25-9 loss to the Ravens on Sunday. The veteran wideout finished second across the board on the stat sheet to Nico Collins in terms of receiving numbers, serving as a reliable possession option for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud in his first start. Woods' profile in the offense Sunday is likely a blueprint for what to expect from him most weeks this season, with Collins handling the more high-upside downfield routes. Woods will likely be busy again during a Week 2 home matchup against the Colts.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Grabs one reception Saturday

Woods made his preseason debut with Houston on Saturday, catching his lone target for 11 yards in a 28-3 exhibition loss to Miami. Woods started alongside Nico Collins (2-21-0) as expected following the offseason trade of Brandin Cooks to Dallas. The 31-year-old is hoping to bounce back from a career-worst 31-yard per-game average with the Titans in 2022. Perhaps Woods will be a better fit in the Texans' new-look offense, but we will have to see quick results after last year left a sour taste in fantasy managers' mouths.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Moves up depth chart

Woods moved up the depth chart after the Texans traded Brandin Cooks to Dallas on Sunday. Houston's wideout depth chart begins with Woods and Nico Collins (foot). Woods is coming off a down season with Tennessee, where he had a career-low 527 yards over a full 17-game slate. There are multiple reasons to explain that drop in production: he was coming off a knee injury that ended his 2021 season, and Woods played with three different quarterbacks in Nashville. A third and more worrisome reason could be age -- Woods will be 31 this coming season -- and may not have much left in the tank as he prepares for another season with a different quarterback, likely a rookie. The positive takeaway is that Woods will be familiar with the system offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, who was the passing game coordinator in San Francisco in 2022 under head coach Kyle Shanahan, plans to bring to Houston, per DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com. Shanahan and Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, who worked together when the two were assistants in Washington, run similar schemes. Woods was his most productive when playing for McVay in Los Angeles.

  • Robert Woods: Cut by Tennessee

The Titans will release Woods on Wednesday, Jordan Schultz of TheScore.com reports. Woods' release will save Tennessee roughly $12 million in cap space. The team is also releasing three-time Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan (knee), who was limited to just two games in 2022 before suffering an ACL tear. Woods, who will turn 31 in April, played a full 17-game slate in 2022. He secured 53 of 91 targets for 527 yards and two scores, and his average of 9.9 yards per reception was the worst such mark of his 10-year NFL career.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Caps season with four more catches

Woods reeled in four of five passes for 40 yards during Saturday's 20-16 loss to Jacksonville. Woods tied Austin Hooper and Treylon Burks for the team lead in catches and otherwise finished second in receiving yards and targets among Titans. The yardage total also marked Woods' most since Week 14 (also against the Jaguars) and was his fourth most of the campaign, leaving him with a season-long line of 53-527-2 on 91 targets in 16 games. It was a fair performance for a player that tore his ACL on Nov. 13, 2021, and the 30-year-old now can focus on putting the serious injury further in the rearview mirror this offseason. With three more years left on his contract, Woods is slated to be on Tennessee's roster in 2023 as the situation currently stands.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Four catches in loss

Woods recorded four catches on four targets for 30 yards in Saturday's 19-14 loss to the Texans. Woods led the Titans in receptions and receiving yards, an indication of how little the offense was able to move the ball. While he managed to record at least four receptions for the third time in his last six games, Woods didn't manage much yardage, as he was targeted entirely in the short areas of the field. That's unlikely to change with Malik Willis under center for the rest of the regular season.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Only 12 yards against Chargers

Woods recorded two catches on four targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Chargers. Woods finished second among Tennessee's wide receivers in snaps -- he had one fewer than Nick Westbrook-Ikhine -- but that didn't lead to much production. His most notable opportunity came when he was targeted inside the five early in the second quarter, though Derrick Henry ultimately punched in the score one play later. Woods now has 30 or fewer receiving yards in nine games on the campaign.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Puts in full workout

Woods (illness) was listed as full participant at Thursday's practice. Woods' ability to take every rep at the Titans' second practice of Week 15 clears the way for him to play Sunday against the Chargers after he was sidelined for Wednesday's session. He'll likely serve as the Titans' unquestioned No. 1 receiver for the second game in a row, with talented rookie Treylon Burks having yet to make any tangible progress through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol since suffering the head injury on a touchdown reception in Tennessee's Week 13 loss to Philadelphia.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Back at practice

Woods (illness) was present for practice Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Woods sat out Wednesday's session, so his return to the field Thursday bodes well for his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Chargers. The Titans' upcoming practice report will clarify whether Woods was a limited or full participant.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Dealing with illness

Woods didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. The nature of Woods' ailment isn't known, but if he misses a second day of practice Thursday, then it would add yet another layer of concern for his availability this weekend against the Chargers. While rookie first-round pick Treylon Burks (concussion) was sidelined for this past Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, Woods recorded five receptions for 49 yards on seven targets. He's now drawn seven or more targets in five of his 13 appearances on the season.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Respectable performance in loss

Woods recorded five receptions on seven targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 36-22 loss to the Jaguars. Woods topped 30 receiving yards for only the second time in his last eight games. He has been used in short areas of the field this season but was uncharacteristically targeted deep on two occasions and managed long receptions of 18 and 17 yards in Sunday's loss. Woods has seen at least five targets in each of his last five games, though that hasn't translated to much production.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Contract restructured

Woods agreed Tuesday to restructure his contract with the Titans by converting $2.6M of his base salary into a signing bonus, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Tennessee gets more room to maneuver in-season due to the transaction. Woods' contract carries a 'dead cap' number of just over $2 million for the 2023 season, per Spotrac.com. Now one year removed from his ACL injury, he has 32 catches for 351 yards and one touchdown on 56 targets across his first 11 games with Tennessee. The veteran wideout has mostly worked as a short-area target through the early stages of his Titans tenure, and further contract talks could have to be carried out this offseason if he is to remain with the team.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Wastes six targets

Woods recorded two receptions on six targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Bengals. Woods tied for the team lead with six targets, yet he averaged only 2.7 yards per target to turn in a disastrous performance. Positively, he's seen at least six targets in three consecutive games, though he's combined to post only 95 yards on 20 targets in that span. Unsurprisingly, Woods has completely lacked any big-play ability, as he has only three receptions of 20 yards or more and one score for the season.

  • Titans' Robert Woods: Non-factor in win

Woods recorded two receptions on seven targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Broncos. Woods tied for second on the team with seven targets, but he failed to show any rapport with Ryan Tannehill. While lack of a passing game offered some explanation for Woods' slow start to the season, volume was not an issue for him Sunday. Instead, he simply couldn't do anything with his opportunity, and he has surpassed 40 yards in only one game this season.
