Myles Garrett Wants to Put Aaron Rodgers in His 'Graveyard'

Player Outlook
Robert Woods signed with the Steelers this offseason, and he could be a starter opposite DK Metcalf. We don't recommend drafting Woods in the majority of leagues, but he could be a waiver wire option during the year in deeper formats. It helps Woods that Aaron Rodgers will be the starting quarterback in Pittsburgh this season. But we need to see what Woods' role will be behind Metcalf. His top competition for playing time is likely Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III, and Woods could easily start ahead of those guys, even though he's 33. Woods spent 2024 in Houston and finished with 20 catches for 203 yards and no touchdowns on 30 targets in 15 games. He's scored fewer than seven PPR points per game in each of the past three seasons with the Texans and Titans and hasn't been a solid Fantasy option since his last year with the Rams in 2021. Maybe he can turn back the clock this year, but we need to see it first before trusting him in most Fantasy formats.

  • Steelers' Robert Woods: May end up starting

Woods has improved odds for a starting job after the Steelers traded WR George Pickens to Dallas on Wednesday, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports. Even if the 33-year-old ends up starting, it'd likely be in a similar role to what we saw last season from Van Jefferson, who got 40 targets on 721 offensive snaps while starting 12 of 17 regular-season games. While he had some prolific seasons earlier in his career, Woods mostly is valued for blocking and leadership at this point, having averaged 31 receiving yards per game or less in three straight seasons since leaving the Rams. As things currently stand, his main competition for snaps behind DK Metcalf would be 162-pound slot man Calvin Austin and 2024 third-round pick Roman Wilson.

  • Steelers' Robert Woods: Signing with Steelers

The Steelers plan to sign Woods, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Woods is coming off a 2024 regular season in which he recorded 20 catches (on 30 targets) for 203 yards and zero touchdowns in 15 contests for the Texans. With the Steelers, the 33-year-old will add experience and depth to a wideout corps currently led by DK Metcalf and George Pickens, with Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson, among others, also in the mix for targets.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Minimal role in playoff exit

Woods was not targeted and did not attempt a punt return in Saturday's 23-14 divisional-round loss to the Chiefs. Woods battled a hip injury all week but was deemed available, though he may not have been 100 percent. The 32-year-old wideout was on the field for just six offensive snaps and twice while on special teams. Woods spent much of the regular season as a depth receiver and only recently was elevated to the top three after season-ending injuries to Stefon Diggs (knee) and Tank Dell (knee). Woods finished the regular season with 20 catches on 30 targets for 203 yards and zero touchdowns, the lowest productivity across his 12 NFL seasons. Woods enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Available Saturday

Woods (hip) is active for Saturday's divisional-round game at Kansas City. Woods was held out of practice all week due to a hip injury, but it won't stop him from being available for the Texans' second playoff outing. In three contests since Tank Dell (torn ACL) joined Stefon Diggs (torn ACL) as out for the season, Woods has hauled in exactly two passes in each of the last three games for a 6-82-0 line on nine targets.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Questionable after another 'DNP'

Woods (hip) is listed as questionable for Saturday's divisional-round game against the Chiefs. Woods was listed as a non-participant in practice Tuesday through Thursday, which clouds his status for the Texans' 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday. If Woods is unavailable versus Kansas City, added snaps would be available for John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson behind top wideout Nico Collins.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Misses practice again

Woods (hip) didn't practice Wednesday. Woods has now had two straight absences from practice this week, making Thursday's session a critical one in determining his odds of playing in Saturday's divisional-round game against the Chiefs. If the veteran wideout is sidelined this weekend, added snaps could be available for John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson behind No. 1 receiver Nico Collins.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Misses practice with hip injury

Woods (hip) didn't participate in Tuesday's practice. Woods logged 51 percent of the offensive snaps in last Saturday's wild-card win over the Chargers, finishing with a 2-22-0 receiving line on four targets. With Woods dinged up and the Texans cutting Diontae Johnson earlier Tuesday, John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson could be in line for even bigger roles behind Nico Collins in Saturday's divisional-round tilt against Kansas City.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Significant run in playoff win

Woods caught two of four targets for 22 yards and returned one punt for 10 yards in Houston's 32-12 win over the Chargers in Saturday's wild-card round game. Woods was part of the Texans' top three wideouts, had a red-zone target, and was on the field for 37 snaps. That snap count tied him with John Metchie behind Nico Collins' 64. Largely an irrelevant figure on game days for much of the season, Woods' profile rose with the injuries to Stefon Diggs (knee) and Tank Dell (knee). The 35-year-old finished the regular season with career lows in catches (20) and yards (203) while never breaking out his touchdown dance for the first time in his 12 NFL seasons. He'll enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, and it's unlikely a team will sign him to be any more than a depth piece/returner at this stage of his career. Woods accepted his role as veteran mentor in Houston and could always return to the Texans.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Paces receivers Week 18

Woods caught two of three targets for a team-high 39 yards in Sunday's 23-14 win over Tennessee in Week 18. Woods received extra playing time as the Texans limited Nico Collins in the regular-season finale. Houston heads into the postseason with season-ending injuries to key contributors at wide receiver -- Stefon Diggs (knee) and Tank Dell (knee) -- and an uncertain status for John Metchie (concussion). Whether Metchie is available or not for next Saturday's home playoff game against the Chargers, Woods will be part of the top three wideouts. The 32-year-old Woods finished the regular season with career lows in receptions (20), targets (30), yards (203) and catches of more than 20 yards (one).

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Two grabs in loss

Woods caught both of his targets for 21 yards in Wednesday's 31-2 loss to Baltimore in Week 17. Woods had the fourth-most snaps (21) among wide receivers, as the return of John Metchie from a shoulder injury pushed the 12-year veteran further down the depth chart. The Texans will operate without both Tank Dell (knee) and Stefon Diggs (knee) for the regular-season finale and through the postseason, when Woods' experience could be useful.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Two touches in win

Woods caught both of his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 20-12 win over Miami. Woods had the third-most snaps (24) among wide receivers, but his production was similar to previous weeks. After Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Woods is looking for leftovers along with John Metchie (21 snaps, four targets) and Xavier Hutchinson (eight, one). Woods has caught 13 of 19 targets on the season for 124 yards and zero touchdowns.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: One target in loss

Woods caught his lone target for eight yards in Sunday's 32-27 loss to the Titans in Week 12. He also returned five punts for 24 yards. Woods, who received a slight bump in targets when injuries hit Houston's WR depth chart, was back to his normal volume in Nico Collins' second game back. Collins saw limited snaps when he returned to duty last week but saw a full workload Sunday, which put a crimp in Woods' usage. His main job these days is as a returner -- 235 returns yards vs. 112 receiving yards -- and he's behind John Metchie and competing with Xavier Hutchinson for fantasy relevancy.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Two catches in win

Woods caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Monday's 34-10 win over the Cowboys. He also returned one kickoff for 21 yards. Woods continued to fill a depth role which affords him a couple of targets per game, although his snap count took a slight hit due to the return of Nico Collins. Since injuries to Houston wideouts started popping up in Week 6, Woods has seen an uptick in activity, although not a enough of a bump to spark fantasy interest. After missing two games himself as part of the injury wave, Woods has seven receptions on 10 targets for 76 yards while averaging 38 percent of the offensive snaps over the last four games.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Two catches as fill-in

Woods caught two of three targets for 44 yards in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9. Woods got the start with both Nico Collins (hamstring) and Stefon Diggs (knee) unavailable. He played 39 snaps and contributed a 32-yard reception to Houston's lone touchdown drive in the second quarter. If Collins returns as expected for Week 10, then Woods would likely return to a depth role. He has seven catches (on 10 targets) for 90 yards in seven games played.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Larger role than expected

Woods caught both of his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts. He also returned two punts for 23 yards. Woods, who returned to action following a two-game absence due to a foot injury, played a larger role on offense than anticipated. That was due to the potentially serious knee injury suffered by Stefon Diggs, who is headed for an MRI and is unlikely to play Thursday against the Jets. Some combination of Woods, Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie will fill the wideout void created by Diggs' injury.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Remains sidelined for Week 7

Woods (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers. Woods will miss a second consecutive game due to a foot injury. Steven Sims filled in as Houston's kickoff and punt returner in Woods' absence in the 41-21 Week 6 win over the Patriots, so Sims likely will maintain those roles against the Packers, while Woods wasn't much of a factor on offense even before his injury.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Still not practicing

Woods (foot) won't practice Wednesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. Woods missed last Sunday's win over the Patriots, and his continued absence from practice clouds his status for this weekend's game against the Packers. If Woods remains sidelined versus Green Bay, John Metchie would move up a rung on the depth chart as the Texans' No. 4 receiver behind Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell and Xavier Hutchinson.
... See More ... See Less
  • Texans' Robert Woods: May be out Week 6

Woods (foot) is in line to miss Sunday's game at New England, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Woods showed up on the Texans' practice report last week due to a foot injury, which sidelined him Thursday, limited his reps Friday and resulted in a questionable tag for Week 5 action. He suited up this past Sunday against the Bills and played 24 percent of the snaps, but he also wasn't targeted for the third time in five games this season. It appears Woods may have aggravated the issue, considering he hasn't practiced this week and now is trending toward his first absence of the campaign. Friday's injury report ultimately may rule him out for Week 6.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Misses another practice

Woods (foot) remained absent from practice Thursday. Woods also missed Wednesday's practice, so what he's able to do during Friday's session will loom larger in terms of his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots. With Nico Collins (hamstring) on IR, Woods is a candidate to see added WR snaps behind Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell, provided his foot issue doesn't impact his availability.
... See More ... See Less
  • Texans' Robert Woods: Starts week with practice absence

Woods (foot) didn't participate in practice Wednesday. Woods also missed some practice time with the same injury leading up to the Week 5 win over the Bills, but he managed to play through the concern and failed to draw a target on his 16 snaps on offense. Based on how the Texans deployed their wide receivers after Nico Collins (hamstring) exited the Week 5 contest, Xavier Hutchinson is more likely than Woods to join Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell in three-receiver sets Sunday against the Patriots. Collins was placed on injured reserve Wednesday and will miss at least four games, allowing Woods and each of the Texans' other receivers to move up a spot on the depth chart.
