Mark Barron: Cut loose by Broncos
The Broncos waived Barron on Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Barron battled a hamstring injury and a strained pectoral muscle this season, and he never played in a game for the Broncos as a result. The 31-year-old linebacker will now focus on getting healthy for the 2021 season. He last played in 2019 when he suited up in 15 games for the Steelers and posted 82 tackles, three sacks, three pass breakups and an interception.

Broncos' Mark Barron: Returns from injured reserve
Barron (pectoral/hamstring) was activated from injured reserve Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
The veteran linebacker landed on injured reserve with the hamstring issue in late September, and his recovery was delayed after suffering the pectoral injury in early October. Barron had 82 tackles for the Steelers in 2019 and is set to make his debut for the Broncos.

Broncos' Mark Barron: Receives return designation
Barron (pectoral/hamstring) was designated to return from injured reserve Friday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
The veteran linebacker has been sidelined since early September with the hamstring injury, and his recovery was delayed in early October by the pectoral injury. Barron can now return to practice and can be activated from injured reserve within the next 21 days. He won't be retaking the field Sunday against the Falcons, but there's a chance he's ready for next week's matchup with the Raiders.

Broncos' Mark Barron: Rehab delayed
Barron (hamstring) suffered a recent pectoral injury that will delay his return from IR, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Barron was placed on IR in late September to rehab a lingering hamstring issue, but while attempting to work back he's now sustained a completely separate pectoral injury. Though he'll technically be eligible to return as early as Week 6 versus Miami, it looks like Barron could be in line for an extended stint on IR.

Broncos' Mark Barron: Heads to IR
The Broncos placed Barron (hamstring) on injured reserve Wednesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Barron signed with the Broncos last August and looked as if he would have a consistent role on defense. However, this hamstring injury held him out of the first two games and now he'll miss at least the next three contests as well. Barron is eligible to return in Week 6 versus the Dolphins.

Barron (hamstring) has been ruled out for Denver's Week 1 contest against the Titans, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
Barron was considered unlikely to play even early in the week after he suffered a hamstring injury during practice Sept. 4. He did not practice Thursday or Friday, so it's unclear when he may be able to retake the field. Josey Jewell should be locked into plenty of snaps at inside linebacker in Barron's absence.

Barron missed a second straight day of practice, and he's in danger of missing Monday's season opener versus the Titans. Alexander Johnson and Josey Jewell were named the starting inside linebackers anyway, but Barron is reliable depth that could help shut down RB Derrick Henry.

Barron is managing a hamstring issue sustained during Friday's stadium practice, per Mike Klis of 9News Denver. The 30-year-old veteran saw some reps with the first-team defense last week, so, if healthy, he could be a candidate to help fill in for the recently released Todd Davis.

Only a few days into his tenure with the Broncos, Barron worked with the first-teamers in nickel packages, perhaps forecasting Friday's move by the team. With Davis out of the picture, Barron and Josey Jewell seem to be the top options to replace him. Jewell has a year of experience in the defense, which may give him a leg up in the competition, but Barron is no slouch as a tackler. In his eight-year career, Barron has two 100-tackle campaigns and recorded 82 stops in 15 games with the Steelers last season.

Barron signed with the Broncos on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Barron played 15 games for the Steelers in 2019, averaging 51 snaps per contest, and he recorded 82 tackles, three sacks and three pass breakups. He was cut loose in March with a year left on his contract, but he found a new landing spot where he's slated to make an immediate impact. With Justin Strnad (wrist) out for the season, Barron will work in a backup role, although he could get starting reps right away if Todd Davis (calf) can't play Week 1 versus the Titans.
